G.I. Joe is a line of military-themed action figures produced by the toy company Hasbro. The name G.I. Joe was created by David Breger when he was asked to do a comic strip for United States military magazines during World War II. Breger came up with the title "G.I. Joe" from the term "G.I." His strip debuted June 17, 1942 in the military's YANK magazine and Stars and Stripes newspaper. In 1945, United Artists released a movie titled The Story of G.I. Joe, directed by William Wellman and starring Burgess Meredith as acclaimed war correspondent Ernie Pyle. In 1964, the character G.I. Joe became a series of military-themed 12" articulated action figures produced by the Hasbro toy company. The Hasbro prototypes were originally named "Rocky" (marine/soldier) "Skip" (sailor) and "Ace" (pilot), before the more universal name G.I. Joe was adopted. The initial product offering featured members of the four branches of the armed forces as follows; Action Soldier, Action Sailor, Action Pilot and Action Marine. The name G.I. Joe no longer referred to one specific character but to a toyline brand. G.I. Joe was also directly responsible for coining the term 'action figure'; when the toy was designed, it was considered 'inappropriate' for a boy to play with a doll, and parents would be resistant to buying them. According to company lore, anyone who used the 'D' word in reference to the toy was in very serious trouble, indeed.

Straight razors were the most common form of shaving before the 20th century and remained that common in many countries until the 1950s. Barbers were specially trained to give customers a thorough and quick shave, and a collection of straight razors ready for use was a common sight in most barbershops. Straight razors consist of a semi or full hollow-ground blade sharpened on one edge. The blade can be made of either stainless steel, which is slow to hone and strop but dulls more slowly, or high-carbon steel, which hones and strops quickly but requires it more often, and will rust if neglected. At present, stainless-steel razors are easy to find but expensive; carbon-steel razors are nearly as expensive but quite difficult to find. Do you like this page? Stumble It!

Collecting arrowheads is a lot like metal detecting. To the average person, it sounds boring and time consuming. But, there is no greater thrill then bending over to pick up an arrowhead that was made over a hundred years ago by a native american. I have a modest collection of arrowheads that I display with pride. All of them were found in Arkansas by my daughter or myself on private property. This lens is all about tips for the beginning collector and stories from veteran collectors.

According to Chinese Astrology, a person's destiny can be determined by the position of the major planets, along with the positions of the Sun, Moon and comets and the person's time of birth and Zodiac Sign.
The Chinese zodiac refers to a pure calendrical cycle; there are no equivalent constellations like those of the occidental zodiac. In imperial times there were astrologers who watched the sky for heavenly omens that would predict the future of the state, but this was a quite different practice of divination from the popular present-day methods.
In Chinese astrology the zodiac of twelve animal signs represents twelve different types of personality. The zodiac traditionally begins with the sign of the Rat, and there are many stories about the Origins of the Chinese Zodiac which explain why this is so.
A laborious system of computing one's fate and destiny based on one's birthday and birth hours is still used regularly in modern day Chinese astrology to divine one's fortune. Scroll down to learn your sign and more! As there is not enough room on this lens for a complicated subject like Chinese astrology, I only cover the basics here. Almost everyone enjoys roller coasters and building a model roller coaster is the next best thing to having your own. If you're a model railroader, there's nothing that will make your layout stand out more than a model roller coaster.
But, you don't have to be a model railroader to enjoy building a roller coaster. They are facinating enough to stand on their own, and anyone with basic modeling skills can build one. Advanced modelers might like to build one from scratch such as the one from wikiHow described below, while beginners might buy one of the kits from our "model roller coasters and more" section. No matter which way you decide to go, you'll have a model that everyone will love. Thanks to Gobbo1000 and wikiHow for the picture!
