December 14, 2010 – John Whitmarsh, Technical Service Manager of
ESL Europe, is recognized as a member of Emerald Who’s Who for
Executives and Professionals Inc. for his extensive experience,
leadership and dedication.
Retaining an HNC in Applied Physics from Slough-UK in 1975, Mr.
Whitmarsh worked in the production of II-VI semiconductors (with
Mining and Chemical Products Ltd) and researched into platinum
group metals (with Johnson Matthey), and spent a short period of
time producing thick film hybrid circuits for Waycom (now Corintech
Hybrids). For the past twenty five years he has been Technical
Service Manager at
ESL Europe, manufacturers of think film pastes for
the microelectronic industry. This involves supplying technical
information to Sales staff worldwide, solving processing problems,
and building prototypes.

Mr.
Whitmarsh relates his responsibilities to the applications of thick
film materials, involving a large sum of engineering and problem
solving. He considers the most important and crucial part of his
job to communicate what is to be done as well as what has been done
so that problems are solved and no work is repeated by careful
planning and organization. This necessitates a great deal of
thinking, listening, reading as well as talking and writing. Mr.
Whitmarsh is dedicated to the uses of thick film pastes in any
electronic circuitry, the support of sales to this end, and the
development of new technology within the ESL group.
“My responsibilities have included a certain amount of fire
fighting…” Mr. Whitmarsh humors, “but these days more and more time
is spent on information dissemination especially via the website
www.electroscience.com.” ESL ElectroScience has continuously
supplied materials for the fabrication of thick film circuits since
its formation in 1962. Having many years’ experience in thick film
materials and their applications, Mr. Whitmarsh is able to answer
queries about traditional uses of thick film materials and has run
many courses to teach newcomers the basics of the technology. Many
of the traditional products are processed at 500°C or 850°C but he
notes with great interest the move towards plastic electronics (low
temperature processing) and high temperature cofired ceramic
(HTCC). Articles on these technologies, and others like aluminum as
an alternative to steel as a substrate and flexible polymer silvers
for smart card, touch panel display and thin film solar cells,
appear on the ESL ElectroScience website.
Along with his affiliation with
Emerald Who’s Who
for Professionals and Executives, Mr. Whitmarsh is also a
member of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society
(IMAPS), and has received an Emerald Literati Network 2010 award
for a paper that appeared in Microelectronics International. He is
looking to network with all kinds of professionals, especially
those in emerging and green technologies as “there is so much to
learn”.
Emerald Who’s Who is a service-oriented company that prides itself
in helping professional individuals from all industries around the

What mobile provider do you have? I have heard only good things
about Verizon in NY over the years, while all other carriers are
sub-par, with dropped calls, dead zone and the lot. I have heard
that now that Verizon will start to carry the IPHONE soon, AT&T
will need to come up with the next big thing in order to
compete.
Interestingly, AT&T has spent billions on revamping their
infrastructure according to the article. Perhaps they are waiting
to unveil it, I guess this is something we have to see.
So you have an IPHONE now? Would you move over to Verizon when they
begin to carry it... Just make sure you check out the prices first
if it matters to you. Verizon will be releasing it's 4G technology
early next year, and they might be charging extra from this
one.
Good Luck!!

Some unemployed may never work again.... an interesting phrase from
this article is "Job Skills Atrophy". For those out of the work
force a long time 12 months plus, you need to make sure you keep
you skills sharp if you want to get back in there. Another worthy
note, those who are out for too long, may milk the system... for
more paid time out of work. As a colleague of mine stated recently,
he took a job, and is now being paid less than he was when on
unemployment. Quite disappointing.
http://www.kiplinger.com/columns/dekaser-p...work_again.html
More folks than ever before have been out of a job for a year or
more. The prognosis for them isn't good. And that spells bad news
for the economy.
By Jerome Idaszak, Associate Editor, The Kiplinger Letter
November 3, 2010
It's likely to take five or more years for the ranks of the
long-term unemployed to return to a more normal level. With the
unemployment rate remaining stubbornly high and job creation
anemic, the number of would-be wage earners who have been out of
work for a year or more is ballooning. It's risen from 668,000 when
the recession began at the end of 2007 to the current tally of 4.3
million -- nearly 3% of the labor force and almost three times the
previous post-World War II high of 1% in 1982.
That time, it took about five years for the number of long-term
unemployed Americans to recede to its prerecession total. This
time, there's reason to believe the tide will take longer to ebb.
One reason: In the roughly 60 months since the inflated housing
market crested, about 2 million jobs in construction have
disappeared. Although housing construction will gradually recover,
it won't return to bubble levels for a couple of decades, at least.
As a result, many of today's unemployed construction workers may
never earn a paycheck again. Moreover, the longer someone is out of
work, the less likely he or she is to return to the workplace. Job
skills atrophy, especially in fields that require computer use or
other rapidly evolving technology.
What's more, following this recession, the spectrum of workers
finding themselves out of work for a prolonged period is broader
than in the past. Just 35% of those now counted among the long-term
unemployed were working in factories before the recession. In the
downturn of the early 1980s, 55% of those with no jobs for a year
or more came from factories. This time, a greater portion were
earning their livings in finance, insurance, real estate and
business services. The ratio of college graduates is higher now,
too.
The fact is, "natural unemployment" has probably crept up in recent
years. In the late 1990s, many economists considered the nation to
be at full employment with a jobless rate around 4% -- just enough
to account for folks moving between jobs plus enough slack to
prevent wage inflation. Now economists figure that the benchmark is
about 5.5% unemployment, maybe even 6% -- closer to what had been
considered natural unemployment through most of the previous two
decades. Odds are it'll stay near that higher percentage for years,
long after the economy is operating at full steam.
That's a bum deal on two scores. Having a larger share of the
workforce unable to find jobs at any given time keeps pressure on
government to spend more on the social safety net -- not just
jobless benefits but also Medicaid, food stamps and more. And more
long-term unemployed means millions of shoppers staying away from
malls, auto dealerships, restaurants and other businesses.
The outlook isn't good. Almost one-third of today's jobless have
been out of work for more than one year. Even though the economy is
improving, job creation remains sluggish. It will be several months
before employers can be counted on to consistently add 130,000 net
new jobs a month, and that will only match growth of the labor
force from immigrants and young folks just starting out. To bring
the unemployment rate down will take sustained net job growth of
much more than that.
Why are there so many long-term unemployed this time around? First
and foremost, it's because this recession threw a whopping 8.4
million people out of work -- compared with 2.9 million in the
early 1980s. In addition, hiring in this recovery has been slower
than in all other postwar economic recoveries.
It's also possible that extending unemployment benefits beyond the
standard 26 weeks -- as Congress has done several times --
discourages people from trying to find work. Critics of lengthier
benefit periods cite the national average of 90 weeks of benefits
in the current recession and recovery versus an average of 55 weeks
in 1983. But Federal Reserve economists say that even without the
extended benefits, the number of long-term unemployed would total
at least 3 million, still a record.

FLOCKMAN and Mini-FLOCKMAN are the world’s two best forms of
farming equipment to raise and feed chickens. The innovator of this
system and newest member of Emerald Who’s Who for Executives and
Professionals inc., is David Filmer. Mr. Filmer is being recognized
for his innovation, perseverance and true dedication to his
business and for the welfare of birds and the benefit of the
farmers that raise them, along with his keen business sense. We
welcome David into our esteemed group of professionals.
Mr. Filmer has successfully served as managing Director of FLOCKMAN
for 22 years when the company began. Today, together with his son
Bob they developed a revolutionary, inexpensive system that most
farmers can afford and use to raise chickens in a more humane and
more profitable way - “Mini-FLOCKMAN”.
David has a plethora of experience working at several prestigious
universities in the United Kingdom, including London and Cambridge,
where he taught Poultry husbandry and statistics to degree
students. He also worked in leadership positions at high profile
organizations such as Silcocks, Dalgety Agriculture and Unilever.
To add to his repertoire, David Filmer has educational degrees in
Agriculture from London (Wye) and Cambridge Universities.
When he became Animal Nutritionist to Silcocks in 1961, he was
responsible for all cattle, pig and poultry feed specifications as
well as research and development. One hundred trials were set up,
interpreted and acted upon each year. He became Technical Director
to Crosfields, then to Dalgety Agriculture and finally headed up
Unilever’s BOCM Silcock’s Nutrition department.
David’s interests have been in Digestive Physiology across the
species in conjunction with Nutrition, which was led by a study of
the Indian Jungle Fowl to the recognition of the limitations of
industrial broiler developments. He devised systems capable of
improving bird health and welfare as well as digestive efficiency,
by providing environments and feeding systems to produce more
natural ways of keeping chicken in modern industrial
accommodations. His studies have proved that modern “typical”
feeding has reduced the quality of life, quality of health and
substantially increased the cost to raise birds. In essence, he
found that some pre-war methods were lost through mechanization,
and “going back to basics”, how things once were, was actually
better overall.
FLOCKMAN (the Original) has been in existence for over 20 years.
The system has won several awards and has been featured in a recent
MAFF LINK project, “Integrated Management Systems for Poultry”.
This project enabled birds to be automatically steered along a
pre-determined growth curve to reach the desired weight on the
correct day.
However the system has proved to be too complex and expensive for
most farmers, as it requires automatic feed and bird weighers,
water meters and a computer. Mr. Filmer has created a simple system
that has most of the functions of FLOCKMAN, but without climate
control, feed and bird weighers, water meters or a computer. The
result is the dynamic “Mini-FLOCKMAN” that requires no daily
attention and is a fraction of the cost of FLOCKMAN, while
retaining all of the bird performance benefits.
Mr. Filmer has won many awards throughout his career such as:
Technology Transfer Award, British Pig and Poultry Fair: 1996
ROCHE Award for making an outstanding contribution to the knowledge
or practice of livestock nutrition during the preceding five years.
(David Filmer was the first winner from the commercial world. Past
winners were all academics or research workers from universities
and institutes): 1998
HGCA Enterprise Award for increasing the proportion of home grown
cereals (primarily whole wheat) in the diet of domestic poultry:
2002
Website Award for Excellence and the high standard of workmanship
achieved: 2010 http://www.flockman.com
We recommend all to go to

Mr. Filmer’s products and research to learn more about this
revolutionary system. We also encourage you to go to

other successful executives and professionals to network with.
After all it’s not only what you know, but who you know.

Forrest Wright is the Chief Administrative Officer of Beaver
Regional Waste Management Services Commission.
At its inception the Commission operated a small regional landfill
at Ryley, taking in approximately 5000 ton per year. Commencing in
1993 the Commission undertook to obtain approvals for the expansion
of the facility to take large volumes of waste. By 1995 the
approvals were in place and Laidlaw Waste Services from the City of
Edmonton hauled their first load into a newly engineered cell in
early October of that same year.
The Beaver Regional Sanitary Landfill Class II now accepts
approximately 1/3 of the municipal solid waste from the City of
Edmonton.
Through the acquisition of adjacent properties to the landfill, the
facility in terms of capacity is one of the largest in North
America, if not the largest. The operation benefits the entire
region through reduced dependence on taxpayers to fund the facility
and the implementation of the most advanced automated waste
collection system on the continent.
Wright's specialization is Executive Management, and his expertise
is in Waste Management. He is looking to network on a national
level.
His education includes in BA in Political Science and Economics. He
is affiliated with the SWANA group.
For further contact, you can reach Forrest Wright at Beaver
Regional Waste Management Services Commission on

networking on a professional level. You can view his profile at
