works for me
by .. G. M. Brinkman (Rochester, NY)
First off I love the Flip video camera. It is small, easy to use,
and takes remarkably good video for the cost and size. Recently
purchased the underwater case in spite of the bad reviews I read.
It worked quite well albeit the controls are a little difficult
to work. Bottom line it kept the camera dry and functional down
to 25' and I got some great shots under the sea on San Salvador.
Love the little bugger. Just keep it scrupulously clean.
Works perfect

http://www.amazon.com/review/R3U73TMP64J4CH I tested it with
tissue underwater before going on vacation. Sometimes the
buttons don't work just right. Have to fiddle with them some. But
the outcome is well worth it. The underwater pictures turned out
perfect!!
Scuba
by .. abhi shelat (USA)
In Dec 2008, I went to the Great Barrier Reef on a live-a-board
and shot several hours of footage using this housing. I was
concerned about the negative reviews and leaks, but was willing
to take a risk with a $34 housing and cheap flip camera. Here are the
facts:
(1) On the first dive, I carefully lubricated the seal using
standard silicone grease, carefully removed all lint and hair
from the seal, put a folded up sheet of tissue paper into the
housing, and sealed it (i.e., no camera in it the first time). I
took the housing to a depth ~20m (66ft) for the first dive, had a
very nice 50minute dive, and when I surfaced, dunked the housing
in plain water. After removing gear, etc., I opened the case and
made sure there was no water in it. It was fine.
(2) I started using the housing with the camera on the remaining
dives, and it worked fine. The housing has been taken to a depth
of 33m ~ 100ft with no leak problems. The real issue is that at
depth, the buttons are all pressed in. However, as I mention
below, I used the housing with the Mino HD, which is a smaller
camera, so the buttons did not work anyway.
(3) I used the mino HD camera instead of the original flip that
this housing was made for. The Mino HD is a smaller camera, so it
bobs around in the housing. I used small shims (folded paper, and
pieces of a plastic bottle cap) to hold it in the right place.
The buttons also did not hit the right places, but that is
actually a feature at depth.
(4) I would turn the camera on, place it into the housing, seal
the housing, and then gear up and do the dive. When fully
recording, I could capture about 55min underwater before the
device ran out of space. I would place my palm over the lens (to
make a black image) when I did not want to record in order to
make it easier to edit later, and to presumably save recording
space (if the mino HD uses a variable bit rate ??).
I would have liked to test the camera with a red filter in front
of the port hole. The video looks great, but it has the
characteristic green/blue tint that all unfiltered UW images
have. I did not have a strobe.
Also, the macro capabilities of the camera are weak. You must
have the image 14"+ away from the lens to get a clear image.
Nonetheless, the setup worked very well for me. I did not want to
spend several hundred dollars on a housing that I would use only a few times a
year. I recommend the rig to anyone who is confident that they
can be careful during the setup. You should also be patient and
test the housing without a camera the first time to make sure
there are no manufacturing defects in the seal.
Good luck.

Flip Video Access-Action MountCustomer reviews
Pretty darn neat
by .. S. Banks (Houston, Tx United States)
This rugged little mount works for just about any camera, not
just the mino. As long as its not too big to sit on top. Make
sure you strap it in carefully. I used it over the holidays and
strapped it to a lamp, a stairway, anything I could.
Great Accessory
by .. Aleasha D. Huested (Louisville, KY USA)
Great on a bicycle, child's remote control car, helmet, . . . I'm
looking forward to trying on my motorcycle.
cool idea... not worth the price though
by .. M. Randall (Allen Park, MI)
sure its a cool idea but this tiny gadget is a lot less
complicated then you might think. basically 2 pieces and some
straps. worth around 5 bucks.. not 15. in any case, at least it
does its job pretty well. get it if you want to make videos on
your bike or in the car, etc.
the octopus type mini tripods work much better than this action
mount.
i ended up using electrical tape to hold it on my handle
bars.
i think some of the reviews are for the flip camera here, which
is fine,
the action mount, save your money or be prepared to modify it..

Designer Cables and Good Quality
by .. Dr. Philip Johnson (The South Bay, CA USA)
As Flip becomes an iconic name just as the iPod did, only genuine
accessories bearing the designer label will do for the fashion
conscious user. Luckily, Flip produce their own USB cables in
bright colors. The pack includes three USB extension cables for
all applications. Use a single cable to connect your Flip to a
notebook, use two for a tower with a front port and all three,
connected in a daisy chain, to connect to a rear socket. Put the
cables back in their box when not in use, and put the box on your
bookshelf so it is always handy. Not to mention the cables are of
a high quality, and one gets all three for only fifteen dollars.
Flip USB cables.
by .. O. Sternberg ()
Purchased these for my Flip Ultra camera. This is a package of 3
cables. I really only needed one cable, so I would suggest to the
manufacturer that they reduce the overall price to sell just one
cable. I cannot imagine ever needing 3 of these cables. One is
all that is needed.. Not three.
I suppose with the cost of packaging and the marketing costs,
putting three of these in one pack makes sense, for the mfg.
Overall, the quality of the cable is perfect.
They work for what I use them for
by .. Andrew M. Ogas ()
I should start out by saying I don't have a Flip Camcorder. What
I use these for is to connect protruding usb devices(flash
drives, mice transceivers, etc.) to my laptop. It just prevents
accidental damage from bumps into said devices. To this end, they
work great. I do agree that initially they are rather stiff, but
that fades over time.

Flip Soft Pouch for Flip Ultra
by .. Diane L. Foytich (Honolulu, HI)
When ordering this soft pouch for our Flip Ultra I was looking
for something that offered a little more protection than the
drawstring pouch that came with the camera. This does the job and
is easy to insert and remove from the pouch. Until something
better is offered, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a
protective, easy-to-carry pouch for this camera.

Great Legs
This little tripod is terrific for the Flip Mino camcorder. Its
legs are fexible and steady. A great and useful
accessory.
Versatile Pocket Tri-Pod
by .. Michael P. Kukielka (Rochester Hills, MI USA)
The Flip Tripod is a fantastic investment. Although sold as an
accessory to the flip, it is surprisingly versatile. I have used
it for a host of different cameras beyond my Flip MinoHD;
including a heavy DSLR and Sony Handicam. In-fact, I have
considered buying one to add to each camera bag. Overall it's an
inexpensive sturdy and easy to use pocket size tripod for many
applications.
Flip Mino HD is great in every respect but has
limitations
I have enjoyed the simplicity and incredible quality of my new HD
Flip. I am still trying to figure out how to transfer the
humongous ammounts of data involved with mp4 but I am sure there
is a simple solution somewhere. The image and sound are excellent
and operation is a breeze. My only gripe is that there seems to
be no choice other than a USB port to charge these babies. No
computer on hand means no Flip when the battery dies. This could
be a problem for those who travel or do not own a laptop. All in
all, this is one of the best gadgets I have bought in a long
time. Great price too! The tripod works great! I know this is a
tripod review but what more can I say? It's a simple product!
Perfect little tripod
This is a great little tripod for your small video camera or
regular camera. The legs are bendable so you can balance it on
anything. It was a free gift with the purchase of the Flip Mino
Video Camera so what a great deal!
nice addition
my daughter just loves that you can change the colors of the
"feet". tripod is sturdy enough to hold the Flip video still, and
so small you can put it in your purse with your Flip.

Great Camera - Love It
by .. Dylan White (Dallas, TX USA)

use. I actually bought two more after this one to give to my
family members so we can keep track of each other better from

highly recommended.
Flip Mino HD
by .. TheFourthWish.com (Florida, USA)
The Flip series of camcorders are designed with the ultimate
simplicity of operation in mind. In fact, it is so simple to use,
you won't even need the small instruction booklet that comes with
it. Usually with simplicity comes sacrifice. In tiny camcorders,
that usually translates to lousy image quality. Now the Flip HD
is by no means a true high definition camcorder capable of
creating broadcast TV productions. But it does produce a very
crisp image. So crisp, it puts all the old Hi-8 and mini-dv
camcorders to shame. Normally, when the lights go down, small
camcorders get very grainy and the color gets distorted. The Flip
HD gets grainy too, but not until the light level is so low that
you're straining your eyes to see where you're going. The color
seems natural and true in almost any lighting condition.
Using the Flip to it's full potential requires that
you have a PC or a Mac. It derives it's charging power from the
USB port, and also transfers it's video files that way. If you
are familiar with file transfers, the Flip is a breeze. Just plug
the camcorder into the USB port (no cables needed) and your PC or
Mac sees it instantly as another drive. Simply drag and drop your
files onto your hard drive. Editing and burning to your files to
DVD requires some knowledge. DVD's made from the Flip HD are
stunning, but of course, standard DVD's are not high definition
unless you make a BluRay disc (which is more complicated). You
can use the included cable to connect the Flip directly to a TV
or VCR, but the cable output is not high definition.
The Flip is so tiny you can carry it in a pocket or purse and
forget it's even there. You'll get great video and crisp sound
out of the Flip HD. Voices sound crisp and clear. It's adapted
for voices, so there is very little bass to the sound. So what's
not to like? There is no photo mode. It's just video. There is no
high definition output port. You can only get high definition
quality on your computer from copying the files through the USB
port. The screen is very small. There's no image stabilizer, so
you need to hold the Flip with two hands to get steady video. It
shoots at 30 frames per second, not 60 frames like TV, so fast
motion can look a little jittery. Normal motion like people
walking is fine. There's no autofocus or optical zoom. But the
usable depth of field is so wide from three feet to infinity, you
don't need autofocus. Which is actually an advantage because the
focus is steady. It never hunts for the right distance, so shots
are always clear until you get closer than three feet. The 2x
digital zoom reduces image quality, so use it sparingly, only to
frame out unwanted objects when absolutely necessary.
All in all, this is a great camcorder for vacations because
you'll always have it in your pocket, ready to go. For the money,
there isn't a better mini camcorder on the market that shoots
high dfinition video.

Great Camcorder
by .. Ronald P. Culberson (Herndon, VA United

Not only is this camcorder small, convenient and easy to use, the
quality of the videos is outstanding. A full hour of video can be
stored on the device and transferring to the computer is easy. I
love it!
Man buys Flip, has video epiphany.
by .. Luke (Maine, USA)
You've probably read a few reviews by now and have formed your
own opinion about the video quality, sound quality and what it
does, so I'm going to tell you what I really think of this
camera.
What prompted me to write the review in the first place, after a
month of owning the camera, was a moment of awe when using the
Flip video software. While watching TV, absentmindedly clicking
around and importing video, I looked down and forgot that I was
looking at video. The screen like any other iPhoto or Picasa
application, I was like looking at photos. Scrolling through I
was impressed with the quality of these pictures, some with
really great lighting, others with neat angles. Interesting
pictures that made me think why would I take a picture of tha...
their video. I can PLAY these pictures. A real "Harry Potter
moving pictures" zen moment.
This camera is fantastic. Period.
I've had it for a month and, waiting for that million dollar
moment, I've carried it in the front pocket of my jeans everyday.
It's been ice fishing several times, snowed on and handed around.
I leaned on a pool table while it was in my pocket, heavily, for
half the game before I realized and switched it to another
pocket. It was unfazed. I basically forget that it's there. The
little soft cloth bag they give you is great, if' I'm just
filming something quick I don't even take the camera all the way
out, just open and film.
The comments about lightweight, hard to film with...pffff,
whatev. Unless your Andre the frickin' giant you'll be OK. You'll
quickly learn good technique to getting great video. Smooth pans,
be conscious of keeping it steady while moving, hold shots for a
little before panning or pan extra slow (you can always edit out
later, you might want to use that extra) and try new things.
The quality of the video continually impresses me. The HD picture
is crisp, bright, colorful and it adjusts to lighting conditions
very fast. The sound is also great. I'm very impressed with how
well it works in noisy and windy conditions.

Buy from Amazon HSN won't refund money
by .. Elizabeth (Cincinnati, OH)
This camera is extremely easy to use. I took it out of the box
right before a band concert as we were leaving and was able to
easily record with it no problem. Getting the pictures into the
computer was also very easy. I like that this camera uses AA
batteries. My daughter went overseas and her friend had a camera
which uses a charger. She lost the charger so she couldn't take
anymore pictures. It is also handy if the battery is not charged,
you can just throw in some AA batteries and record. I bought this
camera on amazon astore I need a camcorder that has a more
powerful zoom so I sent it back. They said they never recieved it
so I lost the camera and the money. I sent it priority mail so I
have no "tracking on it" I would recommend if you want to buy it
buy it from Amazon. I've had no problems with returns to Amazon.
I bought the Samsung SC-MX20 Flash Memory from Amazon we are very
happy with it! The zoom is excellent.

Great little video camera
by .. Mac from Mars (Watertown, MA USA)
I now have 3 of these - one of the ones I bought on sale (black
one) has a problem now with uploading (I think the USB output
port perhaps is messed up) However I am still able to use that
one by bypassing the FLIPSHARE utility and simply copying files
directly from the unit.
I love these cameras because they are relatively cheap and I use
them for documenting live performances to upload onto VIMEO and
YOUTUBE.
I'm a little worried that the quality of these might start to go
down (the pouch for this pink one is made from cheaper fabric
than the original white one I bought) but those are the times we
are living in I guess.
