symmetry, so the Zome System was right up my alley.
I bought it for a big kid--me!
I also recommend getting the book "Zome Geometry",
which provides exercises, directions, and "challenges"
to really get you experimenting and thinking
analytically.Apparently Amazon only offers the
Pioneer Kit, and I noticed many reviewers suggesting
the purchase of multiple kits.Hopefully, Amazon (Toys
R Us) will start offering some of the larger kits;
beyond the Pioneer kit (121 pieces), you can also find
the 242-piece Adventurer kit, all the way up to the
1308-piece Advanced Math Kit (which also includes
advanced "green" struts for constructing truly fantastic
shapes).

Zome allows you to build an endless variety of figures:
pyramids, cubes, prisms, dodecahedrons (12-sided ball),
and far beyond--whatever your imagination comes up with,
while giving you the chance to learn geometry in a
"hands-on" way.

I highly recommend this "toy" for kids, teachers, or
anyone fascinated with geometric figures.

(More customer reviews)Quick Review:I have both this version and the DVD version, and this board game version is much more like the actual TV show.This one has the Yields, Fast Forwards, etc... and in the rules, it is spelled out just like on the show.In the DVD version, it is more stiff and fixed in the way the game is played, but this one brings the full excitement home to the players with tons of questions that will not be repeated often.This version is for the show purists, and the DVD version for those that want the footage and music of the show while they play.

(More customer reviews) I've played this at least a dozen times, and have to admit that the game itself is imperfect.However, it HAS taught me a number of things which Kiyosaki does not make clear in his books, and is essential practise for anyone wanting to take the next step after first having read the book.

My tips:

1.Read the book first before playing, otherwise it will probably all seem boring and too weird.

2.The game makes clear:The way to make passive cashflow is NOT on the positive cash flow from rental properties. (Suprised?)The rental income only secures the property, which you must be able to sell for a profit.The money made on the gains from selling the houses is then used to buy businesses - these are what give you the passive cashflow to finally "get out of the rat race."

3.Take the income statement sheet you've used playing the game and fill it out for your own life.You'll be surprised how little your free cash flow, and passive income really is.Use the excel worksheet to track your progess month to month.An excellent motivator.

Game Design Problems (and Fixes):

1.The cards which allow you to buy insanely low priced shares of stocks for $1, which you can be certain will go up to $20 or $40 later when the right card comes up.Life is not that predictable. Remove these cards from the deck.

2.Other players will frequently advise on what is a good deal or not.This is a mistake, because it doesn't allow other players to MAKE mistakes, and takes much of the fun out of the game.Instead, allow each player to make their choice to buy a property (or not) WITHOUT input, and only after let the other players give their opinion on this course of action.

3.The game takes a loooong time with 5-6 players.Since the players actions don't really affect each other, it is advisable to play with 3 players.

4.The game seems to suggest that the bank will allow you to borrow to purchase a business, this is usually not the case. Make it a rule not to allow this.

5.The interest rate charged on loans is excessive in the game.Set a more moderate rate of 1 % a month on all loans.

6.Don't get stuck playing this game over and over again, too afraid to apply the lessons in real life.(I've seen people paralyzed by fear, who keep playing the game instead of applying its lessons).Use it as a teaching tool, not a substitute!

(More customer reviews)The photograph does not do these blocks justice!!!I was hesitant to order them due to the high cost, but was delighted when I received these absolutely beautiful wooden blocks in the mail.The blocks are larger than what you typically see in the USA, around 2" square.They're well sanded hardwood with gently rounded edges (just enough so the little ones won't get splinters, but not so much that they do not fit tightly together when stacked).One side has carved letters so the child can feel how the letter is made, while another side has crisply printed letters or numbers.The little animal pictures on one side are sharply etched and the animal names are clear and easy to read (unlike most blocks that have fuzzy printing on them).I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for high-quality blocks to introduce the alphabet or stacking to their little ones.

You will need the Mind Station to do this and a membership to the never ending learning club ... .So consider buying the package mind station+turbo twist to save money. It is a much better way to study spelling than pen and paper and sheer memorization.

My mother is the one who went against my wishes and purchased this for my daughter Christmas 2008, that's right 2008. Knowing my feeling on this subject my mother came armed with newspaper articles, e-articles, and an educational magazine. Due to my stubbornness it was an entire year before I loaded the software on my computer. With that being said I am glad my mother purchased this for my daughter (age 8) as I never would. Didj is not a hand held game or video game, it is an awesome educational tool. I love it! The Didj includes a feature on its "Leapfrog Connect" in which I can upload her spelling words and choose her math facts and language arts skills by grade and then again by specific skills. In order to continue to the next level she must answer a series of educational questions, this motivates her because she earns micromods. Micromods are equivalent to money/tokens in which she downloads "extras" for each game. For example, she has downloaded a pet for Sonic and a new computer for Nancy Drew and a Karate move for Spongebob. I have purchased another six educational tools; Nancy Drew, Nicktoons, Neopets, Tinkerbell, Super Chicks, High School Musical and a free download from Leapfrog Jet Pack Heroes. I can't seem to say enough about this valuable educational tool. My daughter is studying her math facts and spelling words without me telling her "It's time to study".

(More customer reviews)I just got this as a Christmas gift for my little boy.When I looked at the product in the store I was amazed that for under $35 it came with over 100 interactive questions and included 3 different shows and cards of Spongebob, Dora and Elmo to start out with.My husband and I did a test run with it to see what we thought of it before I made a decision to buy any extra dvd's to go along with it for Christmas.
The setup took about 15 mins.we had several different codes to try out with our dvd player, but once we got the right code it was simple from there.We tried out the 3 different cards that came with the Interact Tv.
The first card we tried was the Elmos World and it starts out just as if you were watching Sesame Street and then you get a chance to answer questions on the cards- its simple to use!Its a fun interactive way to teach your children.The controller was far off from our dvd player and it worked fine.I did'nt even have it pointed directly at the dvd player and each time I pushed a button on the interact tv controller it worked.
My husband did'nt like the interact tv as much as I did.He likes the Vsmile much better- as do I, but the Interact Tv is a little cheaper and would be great to take to Grandmas house since it has 3 different codes you can store in the interact tv controller for 3 different tvs- smart idea for Fisher Price!The controller is simple to use, just touch the cards on the controller.The questions is simple for children 3 and up.
All in all for $35 I think its worth every penny. A surprise to me when I opened up the package to try it out, I found a nice hard plastic case to hold the dvd and the cards that came with the system. That was a nice extra that came with this product. Its a great way to let your child sit and watch tv without them just sitting there, they actually get to answer questions and learn at the same time.A great product for winter time during snow days or days to Grandmas house.

Arduino Duemilanove Starter Kit Review

(More customer reviews)Hacktronics starter kit is a good inexpensive way to start getting familiar with the Arduino. There are other more expensive kits available with more items included, but if you are unsure of your level of interest or ability this is a good place to start. I already have a fairly well supplied 'junkbox' so this was adequate to get me started.

The only issue I ran into was with the version of software I downloaded. I went to http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software and downloaded the Linux version listed near the top of the page. I would have figured it would be the most current version, but what I got was arduino-013 and appearantly that was the wrong version for the Duemilanove with m328p. After a week of trying to troubleshoot it with no success and asking several people what the problem may have been I ended up back on IRC Freenode #arduino and after a brief conversation with TheMadEngineer. I found that I had the wrong version of software. I quickly downloaded arduino-015 and all is well. For the sake of information I have yet to get the Windows version to run. When you try to open it in XP it just goes off into oblivion and never does anything. It may be the machine it is on, but it was a complete waste of time to download.

(More customer reviews)I first played this game at my buddy's house over the summer, and after a few questions about Pearl Jam, 90210, MJ, and "Wild" Bill Clinton, I was sold!This game is great to play before you head out or if you have a bunch of friends over and just want to have a great time reliving the glory days of the 90's.The questions are perfect -- not too easy and not too difficult -- so that the game moves at a fun, rapid pace.I'd highly recomend this game to anyone who remembers Jump Around, Melrose Place, Magic Johnson, or Monica Lewinsky.And for those who dont...it's never to late to live the 90's!

Not very difficult at all, the most exciting part is doing the excercises. You just keep spinning the spinner card and pick a food card of the same color of the color youspun. Then you either do the excercise or pick a food card of the same color. It is a little educational, but would be more effective if you had to get points for a food group, like more points for a healthy food group and less points for picking, say, candy or cake in the oils food group. All in all, I guess it's okay. I expected more of a learning component to be honest.
