i've been hearing pretty good things about this rod but i was wondering how an 8 wt would do against a 15 lb salmon or steelhead. i really can't go for anything more expensive so i want to know if i can go after fish that size without breaking it. i've been hearing pretty good things about this rod but i was wondering how an 8 wt would do against a 10 lb steelhead or 15 lb salmon. i really can't go for anything more expensive so i want to know if i can go after fish that size without breaking it.

Here is my two cents worth...I love Sage, I guide proffesionally, fish in tournaments, not to mention all the time out on water with friends and family. The only rod i have liked better than some of my Sages are made by Scott and it was one particular model. But Sage will get the job done and then some, i have never fished the launch series but have heard that they are a great deal for the price, and they do come with a warranty. For salmon/steelhead i use a Sage Z-Axis 7wt and it holds up perfectly, you will have no trouble with 8 weight as long as you dont try to horse those huge fish right in. I would get the launch and see for yourself, if you absolutely hate it then just sell it again, there is no shortage of people looking for Sage rods. Just take care of it, treat it nice and learn proper fish fighting techniques and you wont have a problem. Mistreat it, use it wrong and your better off just going for one of the cheaper brands.
