My 8 year old struggled with it and was never able to get it to fly. It really needs to be launched from adult height, but my kids had just as much fun watching me do it. I had to spend a good deal of time adjusting the flight surfaces to get a successful launch. Luckily there are flaps on the wings that are adjustable. When you use this make sure you are in a BIG open field. If a breeze catches this thing right it is gone, gone, gone as we sadly watched one of ours disappear into the horizon today . The plane also seems to have a natural attraction to tall trees, roof tops and unscalable fences, so be aware of your surroundings. The very cool thing about this plane is that on several launches we have gotten it up to 50ft.
