We apologise to all artists for the bugs they’re facing on the
registration page. We racing to fix them.
We also thank you for the feedback that you’ve given to us.
Together, we can work towards a perfect platform.
We also realise that there is some confusion in the approval process. Please note that all applications will take at most a day for us to look at as we want to maintain the quality of the artists onboard.
In addition, we still maintain quality control by approving every art piece that you upload. In some cases, we will edit your descriptions to correct spelling errors so again, it will take one day.
We ask for your kind understanding and we apologise for all inconveniences caused!

We’ve just put through a dashboard. This will help all members
keep in touch as to what’s happening and also allow you to PM
artists and professionals easily. Its still kind of buggy
so we’ll absolutely need YOUR help in
letting us know where the bugs are and even what you’ll like to
see that will possibly improve your Artyii experience!
Have a great weekend to all! and thank you for the tremedous response on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bestofasianart where we’ve hit 10,000 members!

This is us:
Do you see the teeth, or lack of?
We’ve got teething problems, as with any new platform. But thanks to you guys, artists! you’ve made our job so much easier! You highlight bugs to us and take the extra effort to re-upload your art (brillant stuff by the way) so that we’re able to continue to innovate.
Just a shoutout to the artists who have spent time chatting with
us. Thank you and here’s your chance to tell us what you
want!..we’ll literally build it for you
Isagani walks away with a brand new Ipod touch! Congrats!
The toughest part is to know when to say ‘Stop’
After weeks of war
We had to pull the plug
While we are fortunate to have great support from the government
and investors
The venue was a major problem
Venue for SAA is decisive
It’s the one thing that differentiates SAA entirely
Otherwise SAA would be just another exhibition, boring
We were stubborn, appealing against this ‘conflict of interest’
reason given by venue managers who rejected our proposal
Meanwhile, we sought alternative venues tirelessly
None suit well
In the end, we had to call it quits
Currently, we’re pursuing other events
Well, never stop trying
Just like how our artists are pursuing their passion despite
greater challenges

Most of us artists rely on an explosive inspiration, or a mused moment, to create something new. At the end of an eventful Wednesday, when we feel pain, we are urged to create, to express ourselves. When we are happy, likewise, we want to immortalize it. You dance in your studio, your body moves when your brush moves. But what do you do when the feeling is suddenly gone? In the middle of your usual Tuesday evening session, suddenly you find yourself uttering, “Oh no, something is missing. I’m not enjoying this as much anymore.”

If you have been following my articles so far in this website or others, then I’d like to tell you that this is going to be my first article where I write quite a personal story about my friend. He is a vocalist, and he plays the guitar while singing. He is called Cote.
Cote lost it during his performance in this café in Orchard. Orchard is a main part of town where he lives, a long road with the most number of shopping malls. He was in the middle of his 7 – 8:15 pm set, and then he realized that he was bored and numb. He didn’t have enough Muse to perform wholeheartedly. The audience didn’t notice anything wrong, apart from a tad of nervousness. He kept trying song after song, but something was just missing. He was quite in fear because he thought that was what he really wanted: performing. The café owner lady didn’t notice anything different, she kept paying as much as usual. He thought that was his passion and his dream, the one hobby and part time activity that he has been doing since 10 years ago and the one that he thought to be the love of his life. “Why am I suddenly losing interest?” Cote contemplated. By the end of this article, you would more or less know whether I have helped him found the explanation, and whether he has met his Muse back.

So here are some ideas why you have lost it, and how you can get your inspiration back. The tips are slightly more complex and less random than the ones you might find elsewhere on the web, because sometimes the reason is not that random.
1. Art is play
Maybe you’re doing it too seriously and you lose your funk. Maybe you’re taking it too seriously and you lose your grace. Even though life is not completely play, art is. If you’re portraying so much intensity, that’s better be for a reason, what do you believe you’re going to get out of it? (Or give). You can’t be intense just for the sake of being intense.
2. Unexcitement is part of growing
Dormant period is essential. If we always experience new things every day, there will be a lot of new pages to learn, but very little skills to master. Idle sessions are part of growing, the time when the creativity cells regenerate themselves, and warm us up for the next best work.

3. Go out
Go to a completely new destination or just your favourite hangout place. Kidnap good friends along, or take a lonely stroll. Be there. Bring a sketchbook with you. Sometimes we know what we really want, when we stay away from it, even for a while. Or maybe you just need to meet people. Don’t be alone. Because maybe you’ve grown out of the loneliness and you need some other fuel to feed your creativity.
4. Look back
Keep in touch with your past. Listen to all your favourite music. View all your favourite paintings. It gives you meaning. ABBA might tell Chiquitita to sing a new song, but sometimes to keep in touch with ourselves, we need to sing an old song.
5. Variety
Be quite versatile. Sing from an emotional love song to a cool rigid rock. Paint from a real still life to a multifaceted abstract.
A work by Everett
Spruill – Is this abstract or is this still life?
6. Have you stopped fantasizing?
When you paint, don’t just sit or stand in this world. Be somewhere else. Allow yourself to be taken away by the painting, to a different dimension where all your dreams and ideas come true. See that special person finally smiles at you. Yield to your brush and your imagination.
7. Realize that you are unique
Whether you are sure or unsure of whom you really are, believe that you are in some way unique. There is no other artist in this universe that is like you, who has your stories, and who can create exactly like you. Express it on canvas.
It comes as a surprise to many
to know that Artyii doesn’t have a permanant art space
The place we call home is a cozy office, right at the heart of
Singapore’s art district
Given our central location, tea breaks (if there are any) are
usually at one of the cafes outside
Today is however special
There was a chocolate spread
Like to view our offices?
Spring cleaning starts next week to welcome Chinese New Year
So we’ll be less embarrassed to showcase our space after that
Currently, the tech guys have snacks and sketch paper littered
around
The only tidy corner is where our recycling box resides
As our cleaner is an old lady, we wouldn’t want to give her the
trauma of rummaging through stacks of untidy recyclables
I can’t remember how I spend my last 23 birthdays
But this year is one that I’ll never forget
Shannon threw a surprise party - Nico strum the guitar while other colleagues sung 'Happy Birthday'!
My big day in brief
Kicking off with an important investor meeting at 10am
Completing with a sumptuous dinner with our advisor at 11pm
Business talk – around the clock
By the time I reached home, everyone was asleep
They’ve probably waited too long for my return
Guilt gripped me
Fortunately, my parents weren’t hopping mad over my absence
A cake was in our fridge overnight
The next evening, we cut the cake together
And I had three servings!
I’ll remember this year, not because of my workaholic habits
But because I realised the importance of family support
Without which, success would be a step further
I’ve just submitted the National Arts Council Grant Application
online
Phew!
Paperwork is tedious but nonetheless necessary
Here’s what you’ll expect
FYI: It took me a half a day to complete the registration
We’ve spoke to the helpful folks at NAC, Philip and Sophia
Their response have been encouraging so far
Now’s it’s waiting time, hope we’ll receive a positive reply
quickly!
SAA is happening today because of an insult
‘Your Sundays are a routine, what a bore!”
He was referring to my weekly gallery-hoping habit
Before I could defend myself, he added
“Can’t art be found somewhere cooler? Like outdoors, casual, like right here at Dempsey! Why should there always be four walls and a ceiling?”
I enjoy visiting galleries, but I had to agree, sometimes the environment can be a tad stifling
Refusing to feed his ego, I ignored him and secretly gave the idea an extra thought
Till today, he hasn’t claim ownership of this idea
Simply because he doesn’t know that it is taking off
