Michael asks:
My girlfriends is at university at the moment but I need to have flowers delivered to her for her birthday. Is it possible to have flowers delivered to a hall of residence? Ideally I would like to order them online from a proper florists but this is all new to me.
I have sent here parcels before but these are usually held at a halls office as is the mail, they never deliver it to her room. I am worried that the flowers will just be left at the mail office. I know that Interflora has a same day flowers service so I have exactly 2 days to work this out. Any help would be very appreciated.
I have had a few emails asking if there is an online florist which does this. I can understand this as same day flower delivery costs can be quite steep compared to the delivery for ordering flowers a few days in advance.
All I can say is I have have spent a lot of time looking at the services provided by what must be almost all online uk florists and I have and I have not seen a free same day flowers delivery deal.
If it is ok to have the flowers delivered the following day (next day flowers) there are a few options :
There are others but these two are the most popular. If anyone knows of any free same day flowers deals please drop me a line at info[at]samedayflowersdelivery.co.uk and I’ll do my best to get the word out.

Same day flowers is not just limited to the UK. People who want to have flowers delivered overseas can also take advantage of it. Many of the florist which deliver same day nationally on the can have flowers delivered flowers internationally just as quick. There is also a alternative to using a online UK florists which may save you money depending on the country.
I have a lot of family in the US – my dad was born there – so my myself and my family have many opportunities to send gifts and occasionally flowers there. Over the last couple of years we have had a spate of cousins becoming new parents. We wanted to send flowers to say congratulations but as you can never plan when a baby will arrive we couldn’t order them in advance but at the same time we needed them to arrive quickly.
The first time this happened I did a little research on the web – and I mean a little, as the clock was ticking and I need to get the flowers ordered ASAP – I found this web site which lead me to some UK florists which do same day flowers. Most of these also delivered to the US same day – yay! We used iFlorist, the flowers arrived within hours of taking our order online and they were beautiful – we were told. On the other occasions since we have used other online florists namely Interflora & Serenata Flowers all delivered top quality flowers on time.
For the most recent newborn I decided to try something different. I was never crazy about spending £7.99 on delivery and I learned that Interflora is just the international segment of and American florist called ftd.com so I tried ordering from there and pay in dollarsignr. They don’t do same day flowers so I had to settle for next day but I saved a packet. All I need now is to find a US florist that does same day flowers before the next baby arrives.
If you need same day delivery of flowers to the US I can heartily recommend the UK online florists I mentioned above and it is as simple as ordering flowers for your mum down the road. If you don’t mind them being next day then use FTD they are indeed cheaper – if I find and use an established and reputable same day flowers US florists I’ll post my experiences on here.

I am a business student in southeast Manchester, and my dream is to have my own flower shop. Ideally I would like to apprentice with a florist, but it is difficult to find those opportunities. What other options are there in order to learn the trade?
I’ve heard you need a degree to be a florist, but I just want to work in one, helping with sales or displays. I can’t find any decent information on the subject, and was wondering if anyone could supply me with their own knowledge. I don’t want to call the shop until I have some idea of what to expect. Could you help?
I want to send my mum flowers on mother’s day, but I always worry that the flowers will arrive wilted and just a badly presented. I heard that the picture you see on the web site is not what is necessaraly delivered – they may change things here and there. Is this true? I would really like to know before ordering my mum flowers online.
I bought some very nice carnations from a florist and I wanted to know if there is any possibility that I could start plants from the flower stalks?
Many thanks

I make nappy cakes and I would like to ask the local florist to sell them for me, Problem is, I don’t know what to offer them. A set fee, or percentage of profits or maybe something else
