(More customer reviews)I ordered this
heavy-duty Spaetzle Maker for use in a high volume German
Restaurant kitchen. The maker itself is constructed well and feel
like it will last a long time. However, it is awful at making
Spaetzle, and pale in comparison to the makers on here for a tenth
of the cost Norpro Stainless Steel Spaetzle Maker. The cup does not
sit flush on the board with the holes in it, causing the spaetzle
batter to get pushed around everywhere but through the holes. This
causes a huge mess and makes this piece of kitchen equipment
absolutely useless to us.Not at all recommended until the
manufacturer improves their design.

(More customer reviews)I've owned more
than my fair share of graters over the years, and I'm always on the
hunt for better culinary products and gadgets. When I saw the
glowing reviews of this particular model in places like Cooks
Illustrated, King Arthur Flour, etc., I decided to give it a
whirl.
THE GOOD:
* Solid 18/10 stainless blade-plates, and handle.
* Wonderfully sharp, and (because they're steel) durable
blades.
THE BAD:
* PLASTIC FRAME:It's hard to tell from most of the product photos
(deliberately, I'm sure), but the frame and base-cap are clear
hardened plastic.Yes, that's correct - only the handle and blade
faces are stainless steel ... the rest is plastic. The plastic frame
has a tendency to form stress cracks over time and with use.
* CURVED FACE:The main grating side is curved, rather than
flat. That's not ideal, because a curved grating surface causes what
you're grating to become curved as well, which makes it hard to
turn or rotate what you're grating in order to prevent `channeling'
... and also, if you're grating something requiring firm pressure
(like cheddar cheese, or potato, etc), and you turn it (after it
picks up the curvature of the face), it tends to skitter and jump -
which makes it very EASY to take divots out of your thumb.
* AWKWARD 3-SIDED DESIGN:Ok, bear with me, and I'll explain why
this doesn't work well.In order to be able to use a `full stroke'
along the full length of a box grater's main side, it's normal to
tilt the top of the grater towards you (so that you don't rap your
knuckles on the counter when you've gone only 1/2 - 2/3 of the way
down).Normally, on a well designed grater, all sides of the base
are flat, so that it's stable when tilted, and you can put a modest
amount of pressure on it.Unfortunately, on this grater, not only is
the main face curved, but even worse, the side opposite the main
blade is triangular (duh), and therefore it's very wobbly, not
level, and unsafe, regardless of which direction you tilt it ...
and because the blades are so wonderfully sharp, it's VERY easy to
take divots out of your tender flesh.A more classic 2 or 4-sided
design, with flatter faces, would have been much more stable.
* LACK OF STAR POINT FACE:This unit has three faces, all of them of
the newer filament style - in other words, it shreds coarse,
medium, or fine ... but it can't produce a true `grit' because it
lacks a star point face.A `star point' is better for grating hard
cheeses (like parm and romano) into sauces, stews and soups, and
over pasta, because the `grit' tends to disperse more evenly into
those mediums, whereas filament shavings tend to cling and melt
together into a skin or mass.Don't get me wrong - I love filament
type blades and use them all the time, and star points tend to clog
and require diligent rinsing with very hot water to clean - I'm
just pointing out that there are times that a grit-grind works
better than filament ... and this unit can't do it.
Bottom line: Not recommended.I'd go with a 2 or 4 sided design
instead.

(More customer reviews)If you are looking
for a good food processor on a budget then this may be exactly what
you're looking for. This beast is very powerful but it really does
fall short in a couple areas so I couldn't give it a perfect score.
Overall I am happy with my purchase. Let me explain...
First the good. Like I mentioned before this baby is powerful. It
feels like you could process a brick in this machine if you really
wanted to. The chute is MASSIVE! I read about this before
purchasing this processor but I didn't realize the chute was
actually this freggin huge! You really can fit good sized tomatoes,
onions, green peppers...etc into this chute. I've read reviews that
said that this processor is hard to put together. I found that it
was a bit akward at first, but once you realize how everything fits
it becomes perfectly natural. Also cleanup really is a snap.
Even though this processor is great, there are a few flaws in the
design that hinder this from getting a perfect score. My biggest
complaint is that there is a good sized gap between the bottom of
the chute and the blade. You don't utilize the entire piece of
food. For example if you put a potato in the chute and slice it,
when you get to the end of the potato it will not slice completely.
Instead it will fall into the gap between the chute and the blade
and it will spin round and round. There is nothing you can do about
this. Sometimes when you shred something, it doesn't come out
shredded quite right. This is pretty rare but it does happen.
One other thing is that this beast is MASSIVE! I didn't realize how
big this processor really is! Sometimes it seems like it's too big
for the job. I don't consider this a good or bad thing because if
you have a larger family then this is definitely a plus.
Overall I recommend this processor. It does have a few minor flaws
(as they all do) which hinder it from a perfect score, on the other
hand it does it's job so well that you can't help but love it. If
you are looking for a good food processor for a good price then I
recommend taking a look at this one. Price/value wise this is the
best food processor i've ever owned.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this
rectangular canister 3/5/07 because I thought the rectangular shape
and locking lid were interesting.I found the locking lid a very
nice touch in two ways...one, it provides a secured lid regardless
of vacuuming the canister or not...second, it provides a
sturdier/more substantial place to grip as you lift/transport the
canister. The round canisters can sometimes require special care and
grip when lifting from the fridge or off the counter...specially if
the contents make it heavy because there is nothing to hold on to
unless you scoot & tilt it so that you can get your hand
underneath to support it.
I liked the 1.5 qt rectangular canister so much...5 days later I
ordered the smaller 1 qt and larger 2 qt w/cheese grater
rectangular canisters. They just arrived last night and to my
surprise (I never saw it mentioned anywhere, either) the lids AND
cheese grater are interchangable between all 3 rectangular
canisters!!8-)Unlike the round canisters that have 3 different lids
for each size canister...the rectangular canisters use the same
lid...their difference is in height only...all sharing the same
size lid/opening etc.And an added bonus of being stackable as
wellwhen storing them WITHOUT the lid attached.
The rectangular and more squat design...as well as the locking lid
also makes this canister more convenient if you want to take your
lunch to work. It gives you more options to store it on multiple
shelves in the shared fridge at work...and if you still can't
finish off what's in the dish, you still can secure the lid because
it's lockable...or if you do empty its contents...you can wash it
out and store your utensils inside, then lock the lid which makes
everything all tidy in one container instead of two halves plus
whatever loose utensils you have.
The only flaw in the design that I see so far (and the reason it
didn't get 5 stars)...they should have designed the lids so that
they were flater...that way you could stack other things or
rectangular canisters on top...similar to how the bulk foodsaver
containers are designed.

(More customer reviews)I have always hated
peeling potatoes and other vegetables, and so when I knew it was my
turn to make Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to see if an expensive
peeler would make a difference.I bought this one and absolutely
LOVE it.I can't believe that a simple peeler could make me so
happy, but after all those hand and arm cramps from my old metal
peeler, this one makes all the difference in the world.I can peel
potatoes in 1/3 or less of the time that I used to, and it requires
absolutely no effort -- the blade is so sharp that if you put
pressure on it, it'll take off more than just the skin of the
vegetable you're peeling. When I had to peel 15 potatoes for dinner,
it took 5 minutes and so little effort. It's also ergonomically
comfortable, and I love the fact that KA includes a plastic cover
for the blade.
This is one of my favorite kitchen gadgets (who would have ever
thought you could get joy from something so simple??) and I'm
constantly buying it for friends who cook because it makes such a
difference.

holds enough peppercorns so that I don't have to refill as often as
I did with my other peppermill.I like that the screw knob is large
enough for my arthritic fingers to grasp easily. I think it's
overpriced considering the materials it's made of and the simple
mechanism.I hope that the price is an indicater of its durability.I
can't comment on that aspect of the peppermill because Amazon will

(More customer reviews)The first time I
used this food processor I found it very hard to latch the lid. The
second time Itried to latched the lid the little, flimsy plastic
catches on the bowl snapped off. This leaves the food processor
absolutely useless as it will not operate without the latches being
secured. This is a badly designed product and if I am still able to
return it I certainly will. If not it will have to go in the trash.
I should have bought a Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart.
