Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Musical Activity Mirror Review

Fisher-PriceOceanWondersMusicalActivityMirror
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this toy for my six week old baby. She's too little to really care about toys, but she loves to look at the colorful blinking lights and seems to enjoy the music. She lays on her tummy and spends good 10-15 minutes being entertained with this toy. I think that it's quite a miracle that anything can hold her attention that long. Pretty soon, she'll start enjoying the mirror too. I like that this toy uses normal batteries, as I found out that lots of toys use of this type use non-replacable batteries.

Product Description:
Lots for Baby to see and do! A large, shiny mirror to play peek-a-boo, plus three fun ocean friends to play with. In the crib, Baby can tug at the toys to activate lights and music. Baby can also play with the mirror on the floor -- batting at the toys makes the lights "dance" and music plays. Ocean friends include crinkle, peek-a-boo and teethable characters. Two fun tunes and three aquatic sound effects. Requires 3 "AA" batteries, not included.

Safety 1st Air Protect On Board 35 Infant Car Seat, Ella Review

Safety1stAirProtectOnBoard35InfantCarSeat,Ella
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this seat after having graco carriers with our older kids. Since all our kids have been early and small I liked that this seat could safely hold a four pound baby. The base is sturdy and has a great slide out feature to help get the angle correct without having to use rolled up towels under it. The base also has a belt lock area which helps keep the base in place. Installation of the base was quick and easy using the latch belt. The handle is very comfortable. The shade is large and covers well. It appears to be plenty large enough to hold a 35 pound baby as it says it can but I can't imagine how heavy that would be! The print and colors are cute, don't show dirt, and washes easily (and air dries quickly too). The cover is reasonably easy to get on and off for washing and the belts are easy to adjust. It's also fun to have a seat that everyone else doesn't have. It clicks into the base quietly.

The downsides: It was very pricy for a carrier seat and the price dropped by $30 a few days after I bought it, try to watch the price for a few weeks before buying to get the best price. The infant support is not great and has funny extra pillows in it. The support is so small that I had to remove it for my five pound baby to be able to fit. The lowest belt height is not needed, even with a five pound baby I had to use the second one up. The air filled side impact area is high up and would not provide any extra protection for a small baby. My 18 month old would be in the correct place for it but the new baby is way to small for it, it was one of the reasons I sprung for this seat so it would be nice for this feature to be available to a baby under a year old (which is when we will likely switch to a convertible seat anyway). The seat overall is larger than others (likely because of the high weight limit) so even in the second row of our minivan the front seat must be slid almost all the way forward to make room for it. The belt clips are very large as well, it is still difficult to get our now six pound baby strapped in because of the size of the chest clip (much wider than her body) and the lower clip (so wide that she seems uncomfortable). She is unable to move either her arms or legs because of the size of the clips and she gets mad because of it. In all fairness, this would likely not be an issue with an average sized newborn but this seat is advertised as being for tiny babies.

Joovy Room2 Portable Play Yard Review

JoovyRoom2PortablePlayYard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We started off with one of the more expensive brand play pens from a local chain store that I probably shouldn't name, so I also won't talk about their red bullseye logo, just in case it would give them away. Anyway, my confidence in cheap Chinese manufacturing was soon shattered when this play pen fell apart soon after it's first day on the job. I guess it couldn't handle the stress of being set up and folded back together more than the 3-4 times that we used it. After my more financially secure outlaws purchased an expensive Joovy, and I set it up for the first time at their more expensive than mine house, I decided that this was a case where I could justify keeping up with the Joneses. Being of high enough status to be a Prime Amazon member, I naturally went straight to Amazon in my search of the perfect play pen that I wish would come in blue. The only gripes I have about the Joovy, are the fact that it first smelled like somebody farted in the bag before they closed it up for shipping, and the sides aren't tall enough to prevent my wife from crawling out. Other than that, we absofreakinlutely love it, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a play pen that is built to last. Buy cheap twice(or more), or quality once.

Ergo Baby Carrier Review

ErgoBabyCarrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have a Baby Bjorn (Original) as well as an Ergo baby carrier.I think both have their advantages and disadvantages, which I will try to explain below.

We purchased the Ergo carrier before our daughter was born based on the recommendation of a friend. However, we found that she could not sit in it comfortably at first. Before your baby can straddle your torso (until about 4 months/15 lbs), you have to put both legs on one side.I watched the instructional DVD several times and tried to place her into the carrier as comfortably as possible, but she did not like it at all.It didn't look comfortable either with her back twisted and body squished. This is when we decided to try the original Baby Bjorn carrier.

Our daughter loved being in the Bjorn (facing in or out). This carrier is easy to put on and take off and quite compact. However, it was not very comfortable for me (especially as she got heavier) since it put a lot of pressure on my back and shoulders. The fact that there is no waist belt and little padding on the shoulder straps probably contributes to this. The newer Baby Bjorn Active carrier with lumbar support may alleviate some of these problems.(I haven't tried this product though, so I'm not speaking from personal experience). We used the Bjorn until she turned 4 months (about 15 lbs).

I was so relieved when she could finally fit into the Ergo properly (with one leg on each side). It is so much easier on my back and shoulders. With the Bjorn, I could maybe last 15 minutes (at 15 lbs). With the Ergo, I can comfortably go for an hour or two (at almost 20 lbs now).I go grocery shopping and on longer walks this way.She seems very comfortable in it now. She's happy whenever I put her in it and will even go to sleep in it.(Sometimes, this is the only way I can get her to sleep). It looks a lot more comfortable than the Bjorn since she's sitting in it as opposed to being suspended from her crotch.I also don't have any trouble nursing discretely in the Ergo.

Around 6 months I also began carrying her on my back in the Ergo, which was even easier on my back.I have found this to be really convenient when doing things around the house such as vacuuming, doing laundry, cooking etc. It's also nice for outdoor activities like apple picking, strawberry picking, hiking etc.I find these activities somewhat more difficult when carrying a baby in front. While it is easy to put your baby in the front carrying position by yourself, it takes some practice to wear your baby on your back.At first, I needed somebody to help me get her situated on my back, but now I can easily do it by myself. Some may not like the fact that you cannot face your baby outward in the Ergo (and some babies may not like facing inward). This has not been a problem for us.While our daughter loved facing outward in the Bjorn, she did not object to facing inward in the Ergo.Rather than being pressed up against me, she's sitting in it, so she can still look at things to the sides. One more thing about the Ergo - I would recommend purchasing the sucking pads (ERGO Sucking Pads - Cream). Our daughter loves sucking on the straps and it's just much more convenient to wash the sucking pads rather than the whole carrier.

In summary, I think that both, the Bjorn as well as the Ergo, are good carriers, each with some drawbacks. The Bjorn is wonderful for a newborn up to about 12-15 lbs.Being able to have your baby facing in or out is a nice feature.Because of the strain on your back however, I would not recommend using this carrier with older/heavier babies. The Ergo is great for babies starting at around 15 lbs or when they are able to wrap their legs around you.It is much easier on your back and being able to carry your baby on your back can be convenient. For us, the Ergo was not very useful before our daughter turned 4 months as she was not comfortable with her legs on one side, but this probably depends on the baby.

I would rate the Bjorn 3 stars (because it's so hard on your back and we could only use it for a few months) and the Ergo 4 stars (because we couldn't use it with our newborn). My recommendation would be to get one of each if you can.We bought a gently used Bjorn for less than $10, and I have seen a lot of these on Ebay as well as Craigslist.Maybe you could even borrow one from a friend. It just seems like a lot of money to spend on something you aren't going to use for very long. However, I loved carrying my newborn around in it, so I wouldn't have wanted to do without it.

Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone Review

BrightStartsBounceBounceBabyActivityZone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this for my 4 month old daughter because she loves to bounce. You'd think with the word "bounce" in it's name TWICE, the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone would be at least a little bit bouncy. Not so. There is virtually nothing bouncy about this thing, it just has a little platform held on by elastics that gives a little under her weight.

The colors are appealing and she seemed to like the toys but I bought it so she could get some exercise and that just wasn't going to happen with this product.

I ended up returning this and getting the Fisher-Price Precious Planet Jumperoo and, even though it's twice as much, she seems to actually have fun in it.

I searched all over for an infant carrier at a reasonable price. All the stores were well over $100.00 for nice seats. I got a great price on amazon and this is the cutest girlie seat ever. It has bright and beautiful colors and make you smile just to look at it. If you are having a girl this is the best product I have found and at such a great price. I ordered this item on a SUnday and received it on the following Tuesday. I was very impressed.

Booginhead SippiGrip Cup, Bottle and Toy Tether Review

Bought this because my 14 month old LOVED to toss cups and such overboard while shopping, and we would often lose items due to her "game." Now we strap the juice or snack cup to her stroller or the shopping cart, and we don't worry about losing it! And, it's an even better "game" for her now because she can throw something over, and then retrieve it herself!

Manhattan Baby Whoozit Cosmic Teether Review

My son is OBSESSED with this toy.He sees it from across the room and immediately wants it. The toy is easy for a little baby to grasp, has black and white pattern on the side opposite the "face", can be chewed on, and "rattles" when shaken. We lost this toy on a trip to Hawaii, so I am buying a replacement. When I recieved this item (origonally as a gift), I thought....what a demented looking rattle, what was she thinking......but now I understand. The people at manhattan toy company know there stuff.I still refer to the rattle as the "demented rattle", but hey....if my son likes it...I am happy to buy it.We also have a few other "whoozit" items....my son loves them all.

Graco Contempo Highchair Review

GracoContempoHighchair
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Reasons we chose this highchair:
1. Folds up
2. Color/design
3. Extra seat cover
This purchase was a truly pleasant surprise among the many not so pleasant surprises when it comes to baby gear! The reasons we chose this highchair lived up to our expectations and beyond.
The Contempo models (we bought the Birkshire color which doesn't seem to be available but was brown like the Kasbah one) fold surprisingly flat. And they fold easily.I was worried folding would be a chore and therefore wouldn't happen, but it's easy enough that it happens after every use at our house. It is not a one-handed process, but it is quick and easy.In its folded position, this highchair would slide along side a fridge or into a pantry or broom closet. We keep ours in a small space next to our pantry cabinet.
We liked the colors and designs of the Contempo models because they weren't cutesy and bright and fit better into our kitchen and dining room and didn't stand out like the uninvited elephant in the room.
I loved the idea of having an extra seat cover when I read about the Contempo and I have found it very convenient to always have a clean one ready, since you KNOW they are gonna get messy.I was a little dismayed the first time I tried to switch the covers but after doing it a couple of times, it is plenty easy and convenient.I guess I should note that I strayed from the recommendations of only wiping these covers and spot cleaning and I have been throwing them in the washer on a cool/gentle cycle. They seem to come out great!I just hang them to dry and it doesn't seem to take long because of what they're made of.I also admit that I didn't really read the instructions for removing the seat cover the first time and so I probably could have had an easier time.
My ONE complaint about this chair is the tray insert....ours came with an insert that goes on the main tray which is smaller and easier to put in the dishwasher or sink than washing the main one, BUT my baby figured out the first time in the chair (at 10 months) that she could lift it off and throw it on the floor.I thought it would get forgotten and she would get used to it staying there but she didn't and after a month or so I gave up and put the insert away.
I haven't had any staining problems some people mentioned in reviews of the Graco chairs - the tray being easily stained by colored food - but I also wipe or rinse the tray immediately after a meal and don't let food sit on it at all.
As a side note, for cleaning baby items like this with a lot of spots where food and stuff get stuck and hidden, I have a steam cleaner with a little power nozzle that focuses the steam and it works great!Plus, the steam sanitizes surfaces - although I still use a germ spray for in between major cleaning.
One concern we've had as parents is the possibility of a baby pulling the folded chair over on top of themself. It is skinny in its folded position and could topple over if left in the open or unprotected on one side.
Overall, we are very happy with our Graco Contempo highchair!

Jollybaby Interactive Crib Mobile with Lights, Music and Remote Review

JollybabyInteractiveCribMobilewithLights,MusicandRemote
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
-This mobile is large, colorful, and easy to assemble.
-It seems sturdy and well-made.
-The arms of the mobile raise and lower, rattling the attached rings and giving an extra dimension to the action.
-The remote control is handy for changing the music, lowering the music volume, and turning the mobile off.
-The remote is designed so that it can be hung on a doorknob, which will (maybe) make it less likely to get lost.
-The little animals on the mobile rattle when held and shaken and are attached to the strings magnetically, so when baby gets bigger it can become a more interactive toy.
-The lights around the mobile's globe are neat!
-There are three music choices, and the twinkling lights can be turned on or off using the controls on the main unit.

Cons:
-Although easy to assemble, the packaging this thing came in was a nightmare! Every piece is held in with several twist ties. Give yourself 20 minutes to get the parts out of the box and less than five to put 'em together.
-The music is quite loud, and there is no volume control on the main unit. The only volume control is on the remote, so if the remote goes missing or you run out of batteries, you're stuck with the loud music.
-Even with the volume control (three settings), the music is still pretty loud. I put some clear tape over the speaker and it reduced the volume significantly. I'm happy with it now, but I can understand how someone wouldn't want to have to modify something for which they paid upwards of $60.
-The remote will not turn the mobile on. It will only change the settings or turn it off if it is already on. It also will not turn the light display on or off.

Some basic useful information:
-The mobile takes three C batteries, and the remote takes two AAs. Have those and a small phillips head screw driver ready! That is all you will need tools for, though. Everything snaps together easily.
-In the stock photo, at least to me, the legs of the animals appear black and white. Be advised that they are not; they are navy blue and white. They're still nice contrasting colors, which is what I was going for, but just so you know.
-The sound quality is decent. If you're expecting Bose clarity to the music or something, you'll be disappointed. But I think it is sufficient for its purpose.

Hands Free Baby Bottle Holder-The Baba Buddy Review

HandsFreeBabyBottleHolder-TheBabaBuddy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not sure why so many people are rating this product when they obviously have never used it..I guess you all think that we 'neglectful' mothers are throwing this thing around our baby's necks, tossing them on the floor flat on their backs, and leaving the room so that they can choke to death, right? Are you KIDDING me????!! Geez...
I use the baba buddy once a day, when I'm cooking dinner. I put my daughter in her high chair (slightly reclined), and roll her into the kitchen with me. I love that I get to spend that extra time with her, and she loves watching mommy move around the kitchen. I am never more than 5 feet away, and I'm constantly watching her if she happens to cough or gets full. I have'nt yet needed it on an outing to the mall or a long car ride, but its great to know that help is there if and when I need it!
That being said, the only thing I dont love about this product is that they are designed for straight bottles. If you use Ventaire, or other curved bottles, you will need to adjust the incline for proper flow, but this is easily solved with a folded handtowel under the pillow. Also, it would be nice if the fabric were removable, rather than machine washing the entire pillow (it takes a pretty good while to dry), this way you would have interchangable designs also..kind of like the Boppy!
Overall, this product is very helpful for the busy mom who wishes she had another set of hands, but like any product, it has its flaws. At the end of the day, I would definitely recommend the Baba Buddy to other moms!

BABYBJ?RN Soft Bib Review

BABYBJ?RNSoftBib

Baby Bjorn did it again. The Soft Bib is the very best bib that we have found. We went through alot of bibs (and $) before we found the Soft Bib. I was orignally reluctant to buy the Baby Bjorn because I thought it would be too small, and I thought it was a bit pricey. I therefore bought a cheaper brand of the formed bib, but it's hard plastic edge dug into my son's neck and left red marks. When I finally got the soft bib I was so impressed. Well worth the money.

It is so well designed and durable. It catches EVERYTHING! and is very comfortable for my son. The plastic is very soft and flexible. And it turns out the size was not an issue at all. My son is large for his age (97th percentile), but this bib still fits him just fine at age 2 1/2. And it is a snap to clean. Just rinse under the faucet. If I was designing the perfect bib, this would be it.

This latch assist tool created the necessary suction to help my baby latch on much easier. Compared to the other methods I tried, like pumping before offering the breast, this was more effective.
