RV Camping: Older in Age, Young in Adventure When you were younger
and could take the back-crushing weight of a camping backpack, you
woke up a bit stiff, stretched for a few seconds, and headed back
to the trail. Today, though wiser in years but still hankering for
adventure, you may consider moving from that cramped tent to a
classy RV on your next camping holiday. Here are ten reasons why RV
camping may be better than that old tent (starting from 10 to 1).
10. If less is no longer better for you—or your spouse—then RV
camping allows you to bring all that stuff you used to have to
leave at home. Want your umbrella, wine carrier picnic basket or
beach chair? What the hay, bring it along. RVs have more storage
than any camping gear or backpack you can haul, mush, pull or drag.
9. RV camping takes you to more places. Think about it: You used to
have to trudge in those hiking boots all day long. You may have
gone 12 to 20 miles, but what did you see? RVs give you access to
several hiking trails in a matter of minutes or hours. You’ll see
more in less time, plus be able to come home and take a hot shower.
8. RV camping gives you a queen or king size bed. No more sticks
jabbing your back, rocks needing dug up or timid woodland creatures
hanging outside your thin-walled tent. 7. RVs can be cleaned. Face
it, if your tent or sleeping bag starts to smell bad a couple days
into your Colorado hiking vacation, for instance, there’s not a
whole lot you can do. 6. You can have lasagna, wine and cheese.
Carry any of these perishables in your camping backpack and you’ve
got a lot of weight or a moldy mess. Recreational vehicle camping
allows you to eat those yummy home meals while still blazing down
the trail with simpler day hiking gear and food. Besides, carrying
and eating off a camp stove and grill can get old over weeks at a
time. 5. You can still sleep under the stars. RVs these days come
with skylights over the bed and kitchen. You can still find the
milky way while watching your favorite DVD sitcom series. 4.
Camping with your RV is more fun with neighbors. You can make more
friends and play games, music and cards. If you’re alone in the
woods, then the only music you’ll be playing involves two sticks
and a log. 3. Camping with a RV is climate controlled. You can
sleep with a fan, air-con or heat. In your tent, you can unzip it
if it’s hot or zip it up if it’s too cold. That’s not really
climate control but climate confined. 2. You don’t have to set up
an RV. Well, you have to plug it in, balance it out and connect the
water source—then you’re done. Setting up a tent, canopy, beach
chair and lantern all the while rationing water from your canteen
for another pasta dinner takes hours longer. 1. RV camping is
always an escape from the elements. If you’re stuck in hail,
drizzle or snow while tent camping, then you must face the
elements. An RV allows you to escape into or from nature and back
to home. What a nice treat. Related posts:Camping Trailers: Four
