BrainThe Einstein Aging Study, summarized in June 19, 2003 New England Journal of Medicine, found that dancing helps prevent Dementia. Dementia in the study refers to both Alzheimer's disease and Vascular dementia. Vascular dementia is the 2nd most common form of dementia after Alzheimer's.

The study included participants in six brain-stimulating hobbies - reading, writing for pleasure, doing puzzles, board games or playing cards, group discussions and playing music. The study also included participants in 11 physical activities including team sports, swimming, bicycling and dance. Dance was the only physical activity found to benefit the brain. This was attributed to the cerebral rather than the physical aspect of dance.

Researchers found that the relationship between the mind-stimulating effects of dancing, as well as in the above six types of hobbies, and the lowered risk of dementia remained strong, even after they allowed for variables such as age, sex and education. Frequency of activity was also important 63% lower than that among subjects in the lowest third.
We believe this emphasizes the importance of engaging in a regular program of dancing. The need to learn and remember numerous dance movements produces a constant and very beneficial challenge to the brain. The social aspects of dancing whether latin dancing or ballroom dancing, the relaxation it produces and the joy of dancing also is involved. The sense of accomplishment and confidence acquired by successfully completing a dance with a partner are beneficial, as well.

Fitness, both mental and physical, often begins with one's state of mind. Mental acuity comes from mental exercise and if you're dancing, you're not sitting at home watching TV or feeling sorry for yourself. This applies to every one of all ages. Among mind stimulating activities, dancing is unique in that it also provides beneficial physical exercise.

Many people have gotten the message. That's why we see increasing numbers of people of all ages having the time of their lives on dance floors all over the country. They are receiving a couple payoffs, mental and physical.

The Sexiest Dance In Cuba - Salsa, Mambo, Rumba, and Cha Cha Cha

People dance for different reasons: for competition, to keep fit, meet new people, or simply to have a little fun. It?s even become a way of visiting new countries, as shown by the growing popularity of dance holidays in Cuba, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Egypt and many other countries. But, whether they like to admit it or not, most people would in some way agree with the definition of dancing as ?a vertical expression of a horizontal desire.?

Let?s face it, out of the list that I started with, all except the first have probably got some link to feeling sexy or meeting people to feel sexy with, and nowhere is this more apparent than in Cuba. Salsa, Mambo, Rumba, and Cha Cha Cha are some of the islands most prominent styles of dance, and each one is intimate, flirtatious and an important part of traditional courtship rituals in Cuba. Salsa may be the most well known of the island?s dances, but which is the sexiest? Decide for yourself..

Practicing is the most important and usually the most underrated aspect of becoming a good dancer. It does not matter how much you learn, if you do not practice you will improve very slowly and and possibly even forget what you’ve learned in class. In fact, a good time to go out to a club and practice is right after a salsa class so that you can practice what you’ve just learned. We cannot overemphasize the importance of practice! Practicing is not only limited to dancing at the nightclubs though. You can practice turn patterns at home by yourself or with a partner (real or imaginary). You can practice spinning almost anywhere there is a good spinning surface i.e. wood or hard tile. When practicing you will get better results if you do it in front of the mirror so you can see how you’re doing. This is especially important when practicing styling, so you can judge what looks good. The best way to improve your dancing besides taking classes is by practicing as much as possible. The salsa dance videos are a great way to help you practice. In fact, videos and dvds are a great way to remember and practice your steps. It’s been proven that consistent practice will help your salsa dancing more than just about anything else (and it’s fun too). So stop wandering what you should be doing or what can you do, start practicing and be what you wish you could be, a great dancer.
