Items We Accept

We have joined the popular social networking website Pinterest. It is a website where you can make photo collections of products you like, your favorite photographs, your favorite movies, etc. and you pin the pictures onto the board you have created, sort of like an online photo album.

We will be using the website to post pictures of items we accept in our pawn shop. The board will show examples of the items that you can bring in for a loan or sell to our shop. It has items such as laptops, instruments, cameras, and much more.

You can browse through the products on our Pinterest page to see examples of items we accept and see if your item matches or is similar to the items on our board. It can be found here: Crown Royal’s items we accept board.

Review Us on Yelp

If you have a few extra minutes, we would appreciate it if you would write us a review online on websites such as Yelp or Google Places/Maps.  We would like to hear from our customers and would like to know if you were happy with the service we provided or if you got a great deal on merchandise.

Of course, positive reviews are welcome. And if you had a less than positive experience, give us a call and let us know before posting a negative review. We are open to constructive criticism.

Unfortunately, because of the reputation and nature of the pawn industry, people might leave our shop disappointed because they expected to get more money for their items and will be quick to go online and write a negative review. They may think that we were trying to take advantage of them, which is not the case at all.

Keep in mind, we give loans based on the used resale value of your item, not what you paid for it brand new in a retail store. If your item is worth $75 used, we won’t be able to give you $75 for the item. This is because if the customer does not come back to redeem their loan, we need to re-sell the item. So if your item is worth $75 on the resale market, we may offer a loan between $30 – $50 based on the condition and completeness of the item (accessories such as a remote, software discs, etc.).

Jewelry Repair and Resizing in Chicago

If you have a ring that is too small and needs to be re-sized or a gold chain that needs to be repaired, stop in to Crown Royal Jewelry & Loan and we can help you. We send out jewelry every week for repairs. We do not repair jewlery in-house, but we do send it out to a professional jeweler that will re-size your jewelry or fix it if possible.

We send the jewelry to our repair professional every Friday morning and it returns the following Friday afternoon. So if you bring a piece into our shop on a Monday, your jewelry won’t go out until that Friday and it won’t return until the following Friday afternoon.

If you want to purchase a piece of jewelry in our shop but it doesn’t quite fit your finger, you can always leave it with us and we can send it out to be re-sized after you purchase it, too.

We will be extending our business hours for the holiday season. After Christmas Day, we will return to our normal business hours. These will be the new temporary December hours:

What to Expect When You Call Our Pawn Shop

We get a lot of phone calls from people asking if we will accept their stuff for a loan. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for us to tell you over the phone whether we will take your items because we cannot see them. We need to see your items in person before we can tell you if we will accept your items for a loan.

Even if you call and we tell you to bring something to us, that does not guarantee that we will give you a loan for the item. We are only telling you to stop in with your stuff so we can tell you if we will accept it or not.

Also, we cannot give prices over the phone for items you may be bringing to the shop. We also don’t give price ranges over the phone. When we determine a price to pay for an item, it is based on condition, accessories, etc. We need to see the item and its condition in person before we can give you a price, even if you tell us over the phone that it is in perfect condition.

You can call and ask if we will take your items before coming in to our pawn shop, but we really can’t give you a definite answer over the phone. You will just need to bring it to us so we can see the item before we can tell you if we will accept it or not.

By now, most people have probably heard of the Google+ social network. It was mostly created to compete with Facebook and Twitter, and it was meant to be used only by individual people, not businesses.

Now, Google has recently launched Google+ Pages for businesses. This is good news for businesses that want to keep up with social media and stay in touch with their customers via Google.

You can also search for companies that have a Google+ business page by putting the plus sign in front of the company’s name. For example, you can go to Google.com and search “+pepsi” (without the quotes) and it will go straight to Pepsi’s Google+ page.
