Summary: What have we really learned from WikiLeaks …
There is little or no doubt in my mind that the United States has suffered a tremendous physical and psychological blow in the WikiLeaks affair.
While most of the information that was released appears to portray government officials worldwide as being egocentric a-holes with numerous character flaws, the potential for the United States to engage in “open and honest” dialogue (if there is such a thing in diplomatic circles) with other nations has been severely compromised. After all, who wants their private conversations, some no more than ribald speculation, to appear on a searchable Internet.

the United States to engage in open and honest dialogue if there is
such a thing in diplomatic circles with other nations has been
severely compromised. After all, who wants their private
conversations, some no more than ribald speculation, to appear on a
searchable Internet. The main question is why is Private Bradley
Manning, the alleged source of all this trouble, not being given a
speedy court martial in the nearest military courtAnd why is
everyone concerned with Julian Assanges sexlife when there are
serious and significant issues to be resolved regarding his
dissemination of classified government information to the news
mediaNot to forget a serious exploration of the Constitutional
rights and duties of the domestic media when it comes to knowingly
publish classified information. Is the government worried that
opposing counsel will be hostile to the interests of the United
States, perhaps a civilian tacitly representing the antiAmerica
farleft, and would seek to reveal all of the informationIs the
government worried about being blackmailed by Julian Assange who
has threatened to release all of the material to the public by
publishing an encryption key to a widelydisseminated doomsday file
containing the unredacted raw data filesIs the government worried
about the seeming incompetence of Eric Holder who prefers to give
terrorists the rights of citizens and try them in civilian court
using civilian prosecution procedures The man who apparently and
deliberately declined to prosecute the Black Panthers who
demonstrably interfered with an American electionIn an event, there
are lessons to be learned Lesson One One man on the inside of the
organization with the motive, means and opportunity to commit a
crime is better positioned and more likely to take action than
those outside of the organization.Lesson Two The art and science of
keeping secrets has a fatal human flaw that is not likely to be
overcome as long as one is willing to risk paying the ultimate
price for their actions.Lesson Three Governmentsecrets, classified
by diplomats, by their very nature, are rarely real secrets with
strategic value, but attempts to prevent the embarrassment of the
data collector andor gather information which can be used in
negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.Lesson Four The United
States government, including its military, has become so hobbled by
political correctness and a desire to demonstrate its values to the
world, that it has lost the will to prosecute criminal activity
harshly and in an open and aboveboard manner. Mealymouthed
prosecutors are more worried about their career statistics than
they are justice, so they seek to cut deals with opposing counsel
that reduce the charges for the accused and provide a relatively
easy win for the prosecution.Lesson Five The government assigns
seriously important jobs to people who are extremely low on the
status totempole sometimes with little much more than a cursory
glance as to their mental state or propensity to cause
problems.Lesson Six Some jobs are so tediously boring or
accomplished in the wee hours as to produce a situation where rules
are relaxed and supervision is almost nonexistent.Lesson Seven the
United States appears to be afraid of one man making threats to
release all of the secrets if he is apprehended or charged.Lesson
Eight Julian Assange stupidly placed himself square in the sights
of the terrorists and others who hate the United States by
threatening to release the key to his Pandoras Box of secrets
should he be killed. How easy and convenient would it be for
antiAmerica zealots to kill Assange just to create diplomatic and
military havoc for the United States. Which, perhaps, explains why
Britain has decided to incarcerate Assange over a rather weak and
suspicious sex charge rather than allow him to roam freeLesson Nine
the difference between espionage and journalism is blurred by the
selfinterests of those with a political agenda. Some believe that
the media has an absolute right to print anything the comes their
way and others believe that there are certain state secrets which
should remain inviolate. Unfortunately, our current government is
riddled with people who do not wish the America we know and love
well preferring to substitute their toxic vision of an America
which would be a cross between the socialism found in France, the
Oligarchy found in Russia and the ruling elite found in
Mexico.emstrongBottom line strongemThe United States must
reestablish its strength relative to other world governments. If we
are not to be respected, which is not the most likely scenario, we
need to be feared. Political correctness be damned. We need to
remove those who do not wish America, at least the America
envisioned by our forefathers and loved by all freedomloving
citizens, to be the land of individual freedom and opportunity but
an oligarchy ruled by the elite and the special interests which pay
for their power and in return are given payments, perks and
privileges which are not beneficial to American taxpayers or
citizens.2012 is looming fast. With no apparent GOP leaders other
than the same old go along to get along politicians our toxic
political parties have given us timeandtime again. Making the same
mistakes the GOP continues to make pursuing a political platform
which divides us over social issues, rather than unites us over the
true issues involving the governance of this great nation.Wake up
America. Time for Ronald Reagan to ride again no pastels, only bold
colors. steve
