Can you still go to work when you have asthmatic bronchitis?

pFriday the 23rd I started feeling like I was getting a cold, sore dry scratchy throat. So I rested up that weekend to start a new job Monday. Sunday and Monday I had no voice at all, but overall, didnt feel bad. I started work with no voice. Tuesday I felt worse, but voice was coming back some, started working night shift at the jail. Wednesday night I woke up prior to going to my third night at work, and couldnt breathe, my chest was so tight, and burning. I went to ER and called out sick. The ER gave me breathing treatment, did lung xray and said I had some congestion behind my heart. So she prescribed zpak antibiotics, inhaler, prednisone, and gave me some Tylenol wcodeine for cough. Next day I started running a temp of 100. So went back to ER, and she just said everything was the same, continue with treatment. So I called my regular Dr and went to see her on Friday. She advised to continue with medications, and told me I shouldnt be at work. However, I am concerned about my new job! I called my boss and she asked me to bring in my medical notes, which I did. But I havent heard anything further, if this is going to impact my ability to continue working. My regular Dr told me to come back on Monday if I wasnt feeling better. So over the weekend, I tried to rest, and developed more wheezing. My chest makes gurgling sounds and feels like a sponge being squeezed, but never gets dried out. I am not coughing up a lot of much, or having much of a runny nose. Just sound bad when breathing, and if I do too much I start getting light headed, coughing, and cant catch my breath. I went back on Monday, as I havent been able to sleep much, and still having hard time breathing. The Dr gave me another inhaler, more prednisone, more antibiotics, and said I have quotasthmatic bronchitisquot. I have had seasonal allergies that cause asthma symptoms in the spring, like hay fever, but never had actual asthma. I have no idea how this came on or what caused it. It is dry here in Colorado, and been cold, but not too cold. Monday the Dr said quotno wayquot when I asked if I should try going back to work. She was concerned this would get worse, or I would end up in the hospital. So I dont know what to think about my job I called my boss again, Monday, and told her my Dr advised I stay home till Wednesday and go back to see her again. All I got was voice mail. My Dr said she would be happy to fax documentation to my work if they need something else. Dr decided to have a home nebulizer sent to me yesterday Monday to do breathing treatments every 46 hours at home. That was basically all the hospital, and Drs were doing anyway and you can rent the nebulizer by the month for cheap. Today is Tuesday, Feb 3rd. It has been about six days since I started having the wheezing symptoms. I havent had any more of a fever, but I do notice that my face gets red, and feels hot yesterday and today. I am tired, but I cant sleep, when I lay down I just feel like my chest is tickling, and have to cough. I still sound wheezy, even with the breathing treatments today. Does anyone know how long this takes to get over Do you get over it Will my chest sound normal again Is there anything that helps or that I can do to keep it from getting worseWhat about working I dont think this is contagious from what I read, but I also dont want to pick up some new germ from someone, and make it worse.p
