Intention And Self Hypnosis.
The first thing to set in any self hypnosis session is your
'intention'! Create a statement of intent which states your goal
and the result you want from your self-hypnosis session. For the
sake of this article I'll assume that you have the desire to be
more confident and self-assured. This is your self hypnosis
intention.
Now that you know what your goal or intention is for your self
hypnosis session you must get a little clearer on exactly what you
want. Make an affirmation from your goal and write it on paper.
Word it in a way that states the goal is already true or is in the
process of becoming true. "My self confidence is unshakable in
every situation" or "Everyday my self confidence is increasing in
every situation", are perfect examples of good self hypnosis
affirmations.
Make sure you don't include anything that you don't want in your
statement. "I am no longer lacking in confidence" or "My low
self-esteem is getting better" are examples of including things you
don't want, i.e. "lacking in confidence" and "low self-esteem".
These statements are forcing you to focus on the situation as it is
and not on how you wish it to be. So, in self hypnosis, always keep
the statement positive by including what you do want and not what
you don't!
Now that you have you affirmation outlining your intention it is
time to make it more real in your mind. Create a mental picture of
yourself already possessing all the qualities that you want. Run a
mental movie of you being confident and imagine how that would make
you feel in real life. You will use this mental projection later in
your self hypnosis session so don't skip this exercise!
Induction For Self Hypnosis:
Now you can enter self hypnosis and begin to reprogram your
subconscious mind. Sit or lie down and take deep breaths. Look in
front of you at the wall or ceiling and, without moving your head,
gaze up slightly.
To begin the self hypnosis induction, relax all the muscles of your
body. Begin with your feet and move up each of your muscles until
you reach your head. While performing these self hypnosis
relaxation exercises allow your eyes to close when they want.
Deepening the Self Hypnosis State:
For deeper states of self hypnosis simply mentally picture a set of
stairs that lead down and walk down them.
Continue to breathe deeply and begin to mentally recite your self
hypnosis statement of intent.
Deep Self Hypnosis Mind Conditioning:
Now that you are well into your self hypnosis session imagine there
is a door that appears in the darkness. Behind this door is a movie
theatre. Up on the massive widescreen you can see the mental movie
you made earlier playing out in bright Technicolor and stereo
sound. It seems to be on loop!
Enjoy the scene as you see and hear all the people applauding your
creation.
Allow yourself to fully enjoy this experience. You have entered a
deep trance state of
Self Hypnosis.
Now imagine that you start to float towards the screen. The
audience is going wild as they know what is about to happen. They
are cheering you on! Imagine that you enter the screen and become
one of the stars of the movie. You land just behind the movie
'you'.
Take a step forward and enter the movie you. You immediately
experience this movie you as yourself and see what they are seeing
and hear what they are hearing.
You get an influx of positive energy as you realise what it is like
to feel that level of confidence. This is NLP and self hypnosis at
its best!
In the distance on the other side of the screen the audience are
going wild with delight as you perform and act as that confident
you would act. Feel how good that feels.
Again recall your self hypnosis affirmation and imagine you are
speaking it aloud. How does that feel saying it inside that
confident you?
Coming Out of Self Hypnosis Trance:
Once you feel all those confident feelings merely allow the mental
images to fade. To come out of self hypnosis start to become more
aware of your physical surroundings as you count from ten to one.
Open your eyes and allow yourself to hold onto those positive
feelings. After several self hypnosis sessions you will begin to
feel like this all the time. However, continue your self hypnosis
routine everyday for at least 30 days to make the changes
permanent.
