You and most other people involved in MLM know the ideal way to build your home business is not only online, but offline as well. Offline marketing is another word for building your business through your local market. Here are ten effective strategies you can use today to market your MLM offline.

1. Donate a high selling product from your business to your local Radio Station; they have numerous contests and are always looking for sponsors! This gets even better when you realize that your donation can be written off as a tax deduction, plus you get free advertising and business exposure for your donation!

2. Call your local Chamber of Commerce and find out about job fairs that will be in your city or county. Get a booth and set up information about your fantastic MLM opportunity!

3. Are there local colleges in your area? If so, great! Call the college or university and find out when their next job/employment fair is. Many times you can get a booth or table very inexpensively ( $30 or less). You can get a lot of great new prospects at events such as this.

4. Just about every area has a local gym. So, what an ideal place to target especially if you sell nutritional and health products! You can get a table space for $20 or less in most cases. Make sure you have three to five products on display, some free samples, plenty of business cards, and fliers. The free samples will be attracting folks like crazy who are starving after their hard workout like!

5. Make sure you network with others in your community who are in home businesses. Find out what events and activities that they participate in. They are good resources to assist you in getting started as you begin to network in your community.

6. Take advantage of all those lunch breaks! Contact companies in your area to see if you can come in and set up a table in the employee lounge or cafeteria. You know, the areas where people congregate when taking a break. These days a lot of companies will allow you to do this if you just ask.

7. Do you have a local cable TV channel in your area that allows business people to advertise? I know I do in mine. You can inquire about advertising. Did you realize an ad on a cable channel could potentially reach thousands of potential buyers for you? It would be best to use your MLM website address for these types of advertising and not your personal home address.

8. Make good use of those small hometown newspapers! Many people do not get a good response when they do a big newspaper ad unless they do a solo ad, display ad, or something along those lines. But, target a small hometown newspaper and you can see your response greatly increase! What you can also do is to inquire about getting your ads on specific pages in the newspaper that targets the group of people in your MLM niche.

9. Pizza anyone? Every town has a pizza place. Contact your local pizza shops, diners, deli?s, and coffee bagel shops to ask them about advertising on their paper placements. Customers do read those ads!

10. Summer is fast approaching. Why not take your MLM home business on the road? Contact your local area parks and community centers to see what their schedule of events are and inquire about setting up a booth or table.

A case study of Facebook’s early stages illustrates the importance of online and offline integration:

Facebook was started by Mark Zuckerberg in his dorm room and originally called Facemash, later The Facebook. The site was intended to be a means of establishing connections between students at Harvard University – previously students had been given a book of photos to get to know one another, from which The Facebook took its inspiration.

Within twenty-four hours of The Facebook going live membership stood at 1500 students and after the first month over half of Harvard’s undergraduate student body was on The Facebook. Soon after its initial success the site branched out to include more universities, then companies and schools, before finally becoming what we know it as today.

Facebook’s offline advertising and marketing was hugely impacted by word of mouth. But it wasn’t only people talking that transformed the site from a college network into a business worth over $15billion. Student centred events were advertised online and held offline, so maintaining a real-world presence for a distinctly online organisation.

In recent years the online/offline integration has continued for Facebook as several companies use television advertising to promote their Facebook pages (Smirnoff and Lynx are two familiar examples).

Facebook is relevant to the concept of integration because without the offline structure already sat in place and supplemented by events and discussion, the online company would not exist. For Facebook the website depends on the offline community, what Zuckerberg calls ‘the social graph.’ This is one of the central aspects of online and offline integration with regards to marketing: one cannot exist without the other and, to put it simply, the whole offer is more than the sum of its parts.

Unfortunately it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking of marketing in terms of online and offline, as if they are two separate entities. To do so in any business is akin to Facebook forgetting that their goal is to establish connections between people in the actual world, rather than making virtual connections only. Though Facebook is clearly a massive online success, without the offline social graph, the website is redundant.

The following hypothetical example of a company’s plan to have a stand at the Motor Show in the NEC demonstrates the various ways to market and promote an event with online and offline integration for an SME:

First on the event organiser’s to-do list is creating an event on Linkedin, inviting contacts and updating their status accordingly. Then contacts will be exported from Linkedin and an email sent to them along with other relevant contacts to encourage visits to the stand.

So far this all happens online.

But next the organiser sends out a press release to industry journalists, writes an entry for the exhibition’s programme and takes out advertising space in specific and targeted publications. Also it is recommended for an organiser to call their key customers to let them know where they will be and at what time.

Then at the event, the combination of a strong and interesting stand, complete with sample products (if applicable), prize draw to attract interest, sponsorship of workshops and/or other material connected to the event and face-to-face meetings will encourage potential customers to give their contact details. Not to mention keeping existing customers interested and excited.

When the organiser is back in the office they make their follow up calls and add the contacts they made at the exhibition to their email address book, make more contacts on Linkedin and make sure new and old customers alike are being kept up-to-date online.

By integrating offline and online like this you get more bites at the cherry.

You will get more opportunities to be seen on different days and times by different people and customer segments of your market. Also always be aware that not everybody in the business world checks Linkedin updates and messages regularly. As research shows, the larger the company, the smaller the current strategy for social media, although it is an expanding platform.

The traditional forms of marketing that establish person-to-person connections via engaging dialogue and meetings are so important that if they are effectively handled, any online work will be made much easier in virtue of them. So the offline is just as important as the online, and by integrating the two and remembering how one relies the other, a marketing plan has a great chance of success.

o Data Entry Jobs:

Data Entry jobs are the most sought after job by work from home candidates. Scammers are aware of this. There are legit data entry jobs out there, but these are far and in-between. Use caution when applying for data entry jobs on and off-line. Ask other home based job seekers what companies they recommend.

o Mystery Shopping list:

Many ads claim to get you started with mystery shopping; you may or may not receive a list of companies. Mystery shopping jobs are very time sensitive. Assignments have to be done on the day specified. So, a list of jobs would not be beneficial. You can find companies and up-dated jobs at mysteryshop.org (Mystery Shopping Providers Association)

o Survey Web Sites:

Despite the hype, surveys are not a quick way to make a lot of money from home; a real research project may take 30 to 45 minutes to complete, paying you a whopping! $5 to $10. The most common method of payment for surveys are– gift certificates, products and points. Cash is seldom paid, if you do receive a check it is not enough to call an income. A lot of survey sites are just companies linked to affiliate companies that pay the web site owner just for you signing up, although you may never receive a market research assignment– you will get an inbox full of solicitations. People usually fill out surveys to get free stuff.

Look for… contact information– phone numbers, email address, and office location. Find out the number of years they have been in business. Identify the owner or President. Look for press information; Press Releases, Magazine Articles, etc…

o Start- up fees is not required, the exception to this rule is, some companies may require a fee for background checks or credit checks. But this usually comes after the interview and you know you have the job.

o Real Companies post jobs on job boards frequently visited by Candidates, they do not send you spam emails about this wonderful position they have. Email from a company, you did not apply for– is a red flag!

In Part 1, we also discussed that the biggest target market of this group is stay at home moms. However, since this group of people has become schooled on scams, Scammers are now trying to slither into the wallets of a new target. Who are they?

That new target is our teenagers. Teenagers are 5th on our list of the most targeted group of people. They are the new generation whom is falling prey to
Wolf Tickets, because of access to the internet our teenagers are being sucked in by scams. They get spam from them in their email box or a Pop- up from a website they frequent may entice them to get mom and dad’s credit card. These wolf tickets are enticing to teenagers because they are eager for Independence, and they believe that having their own money is going to give them that.

TeleRepsathome surveyed a group of teenagers, and the results were unnerving! Either they or their friends had encountered a work at home scam. When asked what they would do with the money– they thought they were going to make, the answers came pouring out; buy clothes, get a cell phone, buy fast food, get cds and the list goes on. When most business owners go out to market their business, they usually don’t know where to begin. Some business owners have heard that cold calling works; that going door to door works, and that they need to start a telemarketing agency to call each prospect that they receive in attempt to sell them on their products.

But all of this is nonsense.

Cold calling is something that I don’t recommend doing. I’ve been on both sides of the field. When I first started my direct mail business a few years back, I had no idea of how to market via direct mail. I would hope that each campaign was going to bring back an influx of new customers, but instead I went an entire month without making any sales.

Then that’s when I turned to cold calling. I would call up business owners randomly out of the phonebook, and try to sell my services to them. This attempt failed for me also. At that point, I was thinking about just going out and working a normal job. But the thought of that made me cringe, but at that point I had no other options.

The job that I would go on to acquire is this collection agency’s call center. The was a fairly large facility, and I figured I could do since I’m sitting down all day and not doing any physical labor. (yeah, I’m lazy like that).

Yet unfortunately, my days as a collections rep were number. After my first 2 months there, they fired me due to lack of performance. So that completely stopped my cash flow, and I would have to develop a plan for getting a job and bring some income back into my life.

But one quick note: While I was working at the collections agency, I learned and heard some of the rejections, questions, and negatively when we would call out to people. They were either busy, had no money, or simply didn’t want to pay at this point in time. I learned alot from that job, but the biggest thing that I learned was that for all of this calling and persuading that I had to do, it was all for just $9 an hour.

I don’t know about you, but in today’s economy, $9 an hour is simply not getting it done. With the rising costs of gas, food, electricity, and other expenses, you need to have a steady, predictable income that is going to last you through tough times.

After I got fired from my collections agency job, I turned back to business because so that I can stay in business for the long term, and not to satisfy a boss who could care less about your interests and goals. That is why you want to do whatever it takes to close someone as doing business with you.

Just like how Kobe Bryant is considered the “best closer” in the game of basketball, you need to be the best closer in your business also. Don’t believe in the hype that having your own business brings upon. Measure your success like I do by the number of leads that you get on a daily basis – because your leads do in fact have a worth. It’s just up to you on how you want to capitalize on this lead.

The only way to make anything successful is having or getting the knowledge, the tools, devoting the time and get to work using them. That’s what separates those who succeed from those who don’t.

If you really want to make money from home, make extra money, earn an income online or improve your income then you have to know the determining factors. You will have to really want it so bad that you are willing to make the sacrifices and put in the time. This is what is called drive! You have to be willing to sacrifice; watching the TV, you have to be willing to tell your spouse, significant other, family and friends to leave you alone while you’re work. As I sit here while I’m typing this out, I look back on all that I know, all that I’ve made the time to learn and do it, I can say with a good heart, it’s worth it. Knowing the reason for financial crisis would help to find a solution to it. Using the law of causes and effects, when the cause of a problem is identified, dealt with and eliminated, there is no reason why the effect should not be eliminated as well. Having known the reasons or causes of the financial crisis the next thing is to eliminate those causes and this requires thinking along this line, ‘What are the things that I should do to start making money fast?’ Take time to think. Get a pen and paper and start listing the things that you can do to make money quickly? Think about this deeply until you’ve written down at least 20 solutions that could help you make money quickly.

For the unemployed who wants to get a job, it is worthy to note that most times, getting an employment ordinarily does not depend on the employee, it may not be a solution to make money quickly. But there are jobs that are considered stop-gaps that an individual could get quickly and use the money earned from it to reduce the pressure that lack of money puts on them. We live in an infant society and with a business like this you can give that to them. If you get yourself affiliated with a health company that has great weight loss products and programs and you need to lose some pounds yourself then you can become a product of the product. Show people what that product has done for you, show them instantly what the results are.

If you have a talent, strategy or a story to tell you can create it into a PDF file to read, make a video or even record audio. The eBook won’t sell itself however. You need to instill marketing techniques in order to make people want to buy your eBook. This is one of the most time consuming of the new business ideas for 2012 because it’s basically two jobs to get one outcome but the outcome can be more recompensing financially.
