Have you always wondered what a dental crown is? 3348

Dental crowns are tooth caps made to replace teeth that have experienced cavities and usually are made to look similar to natural teeth. They are often placed atop teeth that are weak, broken, decayed or damaged in any number of ways. There are more than one variety available which we will go on to talk about here. One of the most common designs of these is metal crowns. The appearance of small children's mouths will not be affected since most of them will be used on the temporary back teeth. They are usually gray in color and can be made of nickel or chromium. Most people are more familiar with porcelain crowns than any other types of dental crowns. Created with porcelain, these have been manufacturer to mirror the teeth you were born with. They are attached to a base made of metal. Their color can also be made to blend in with your other teeth. They are frequently used to replace front teeth in the mouth. Occasionally, the porcelain tends to chip off in due course and may require a replacement. Resin crowns are also very commonly used. In addition, they can be colored to match the neighboring teeth. Resin implants, as opposed to those made of porcelain and fused with a metal base, are not as widely used because they are simply not as durable. Dental Implants, what are they 1858

Dental implants are considered the new way to permanently and efficiently replace a missing tooth or teeth. Porcelain crowns simply are not as durable or long-lasting as these. Because they function so much like natural teeth, most people find them a much better choice than dentures or partial plates. In order to have implant dentistry performed to replace missing teeth, a consultation must be made with a dentist to make sure that the patient has adequate bone and gum tissue for the material to be attached to the jaw bone. We can make an appointment to implant a titanium screw in the jaw bone once we have finished this. Then it is covered with gum tissue and given an opportunity to heal. A crown can be temporarily put in this location after a certain time. Healing can take a few months and then a permanent crown or tooth material can be placed on top of the dental implant. Multiple visits to the dentists office are necessary in order to complete the dental implant procedure It can, however, be a wonderful alternative to dentures or missing teeth which, of course, can greatly affect one's appearance and ability to chew properly.
