John Ruskin was an important member of the
Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society which was founded in 1887. The
Ruskin Pottery studio was notable for the innovative glazes used on
a range of brightly colored pots, vases, buttons, bowls, tea
services and jewelery. The glazes included a misty glaze called
soufflé, an ice crystal effect glaze - 'crystalline', lustre glazes
resembling metallic finishes, and the most popular of all “sang de
boeuf”, which produced a blood red effect. These arts and crafts
style works are very collectible. You can find some great pieces on
eBay. [phpbay]Ruskin Pottery, 48, 20081, ""[/phpbay] [phpbay]Ruskin
