Book Review: From Fat to Fit
A book by Carole Carson Everyone should read this book. Everyone probably all ready knows and has heard Carole’s very sensible message: eat less, exercise more, there’s no such thing as a diet; it’s a complete lifestyle change. She’s not writing anything new, but it’s inspiring how she inspired the entire state of Nevada to join her in weight loss workshops. One depressing morning Carole breaks her own bathroom scales and makes the decision to lose 60 pounds before her 60th birthday. She shares her journey with a local newspaper which then morphs into more publications and eventually this book. I can really relate to this book. Carole and I are same age, the same body type and height, except I wanted to shed 30 pounds, not 60. We both play tennis and practice yoga. I set my bar lower than the author. I knew it was a lifestyle change and I decided on reduced meal portions, increased exercise and my goal was to lose a pound a month. An inspirational tale of one family’s love, devotion and faith When I arrived, I approached the figure in the wheelchair. I asked him who I was but my father-in-law did not recognize me. When I tried to help him, he became angry and violent. He tried to get out of his wheelchair and away from me. He yelled, “No! You are not taking me back to Germany! You are all Nazis! You are all trying to kill me.” Dad won a Bronze Star Medal for his service during WWII. It took three of us to get him outside to the car. Dad had his fists to me, a growl on his face and threatened to kick me. Then the swearing began . This is a book about the daily trials and tribulations of taking care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease. In this Journal I share the feelings of confusion, frustration, and blessings I experienced during my ordeal.
