It's Official: PS3 Has Best Software Library of 2010
…According to Famitsu's review pages, anyway.
By Kevin Gifford, 02/09/2011
All console warriors, lay down your weapons and surrender at
once: It's been scientifically (?) proven by Famitsu
magazine that the PlayStation 3 had the highest-quality software
library for the year 2010. (Assuming you trust Famitsu's
reviews, that is.)
The Japanese publication made this conclusion by crunching the
scores on the 516 games it reviewed last year and seeing how many
titles scored at least a "Silver" award by getting 30 out of 40
possible points. The resulting numbers speak for themselves, at
least if you're a Sony fan — a whopping 77 out of 103 PS3 games
in 2010 netted a Famitsu award, nearly three-quarters of
the entire release lineup. Two-thirds of Xbox 360 releases in
Japan (65 out of 97) got awards, and 27 out of 43 Wii games
scored at least 30/40, a ratio of 62.8%.
As you'd figure, the percentages weren't quite so hot for the
portable systems. 58 out of 117 Nintendo DS games (just under
half) got rewarded by Famitsu this year, and the numbers
were even worse for the PSP, with only 56 out of 130 titles
(43.1%) making the cut. The PlayStation 2 fared worst of all,
with only 6 out of 26 releases (20.1%) making the grade.
In case you're interested, the 289 games that earned
Famitsu awards in 2010 would cost you a grand total of
1,824,684 yen (about $22,136) if you purchased them all at list
price. If you stacked all the boxes on top of each other, you'd
have an unstable tower of plastic reaching over 160 feet into the
air. Also, if you did either of these things, chances are good
you would have trouble retaining a girlfriend.

Playstation 3 Energizer Power & Play Charging System
Review
For me, the PS3 is a home for action games. I can’t play an
action game unless my weapon is ready to go. When a group of
friends gathers together, I want every controller fully charged
and ready to host the people that are around it.
I don’t like relying on batteries to make sure that the game goes
on. I want to know for myself that the controllers are fully
charged.
The Playstation 3 Energizer Power & Play Charging System fits
my needs. It charges up to four controllers at the same time. In
two and a half hours, I have four fully charged controllers ready
to arm me and three other friends for an evening of video game
fun.
You can buy the charging station cheap online
through Amazon.com here.
This charging system is one of the most highly revered systems
out there. It charges multiple controllers at once, and it has a
green light alert to let you know when it’s completely charged
and ready for play. To me, this was exactly what I needed. The
charger is compact, too. I’m a space-saver no matter where I’m
at, so this is a must with any PS3 hardware that I purchase. The
price is what tops it off.
When something this functional and clear comes for a price I am
more than able to afford, I go for it. I recommend this product
for its simple functionality, clarity in letting a gamer know
when the controllers are fully charged, and ability to charge
more than two players at once. This charging system gets a whole
army of gamers ready for their next adventure and it does so for
a price that lets even the most frugal of gamers own it without
having any buyer’s guilt. My favorite part: Messy,
time-consuming, unreliable batteries can take a backseat. For
serious gamers, a charging system like this is a must.

First off, I would like to welcome you to my new blog that
covers how to download PS3 games and other media
like movies, music, skins, etc. When I bought my PS3, the first
thing that kind of annoyed me was the fact that new games were
costing $60 instead of $50. I have noticed this rising trend
amongst other systems ever since ps3 introduced the $60 intro
titles. After dropping $500 for my new system, I had no money to
get the 3 game titles I was most interested in. AFter searching
the internet, I found a really cool service that lets you
download hundreds of ps3 games and movies.
Where to download ps3 games and movies?
This ps3 game download website I found is great. I
signed up and I downloaded 2 out of the 3 games that I wanted.
The cool thing about it is I didn't need to download any special
mod chip to play the game. I simply connected my PC and PS3
together, ran the software the download site provided and the
game started transferring right from the DL site to my ps3 hard
drive.
Is it worth it to sign up?
I've used this service for about a week now and I am pleased with
it so far. The downloads are fast, the games are easy to get
working. They also have some good movie titles available to
download as well. So as of now, I do recommend you at least try
it out.

Geohotz lawyers himself up in PS3 legal wrangles
14 January, 2011
The legal team representing George Hotz, the 21-year-old
computer prodigy who left electronics giant Sony with egg on its
face after he disclosed the key used to lock the DRM in the
PlayStation 3 console, has declared his intention to fight Sony's
lawsuit.
George Hotz, also known as geohot, came to Sony's attention by
publicising the signing key used to lock
down the digital rights management system in the PS3, which
Sony uses to prevent third-party software – and illegitimately
downloaded games – from running.
Despite publishing a third-party
firmware signed with the key, which has since
been used to run pirated games on Sony's flagship
console, Hotz has always insisted that his work is simply to
restore the 'Install Other OS' feature that was removed by Sony
– leaving many who had bought the PS3 to play with Linux ports
on the IBM-designed Cell processor to choose between no Linux
or no new games.
Sony, for its part, launched its cadre of attack lawyers at the
problem, targeting Hotz, a pair of hackers working under the
codename fail0verflow who first discovered the weakness that allowed
the key to be derived, and a hundred 'John Does' who had
discussed the key and its implications on Internet forums.
Hotz, sensibly, has lawyered up himself, and is being
represented in the case by Stewart Kellar – a self-styled
'e-ttorney at law' – and Yasha Heidari of the firm Heidari
Power Law Group, who state that the case will be vigorously
defended.
Kellar claims that Sony's actions in filing the case
demonstrate the company's true intentions: "This case is not
about Sony attempting to protect its intellectual property or
otherwise seek bona fide relief from the court.
Rather, it's an attempt to send a message that any individual
using Sony hardware in a way Sony does not deem appropriate
will result in harsh legal consequences from a multi-billion
dollar company, irrespective of any legal basis or authority
for such action."
Heidari adds: "I think it is quite telling that Sony, [which]
is legally required to provide notice to Mr. Hotz before
seeking any special relief with the Court, decided to e-mail
Mr. Hotz a copy of [its] motion at 7 pm when a hearing was
scheduled for the next morning at 9 am in California, while Mr.
Hotz does not even live in California. Sony is seeking various
unreasonable relief, such as seizing Mr. Hotz's personal
property and computers. Luckily, the Court postponed the
hearing."
It's not just Hotz who should be worried about the outcome of
the case, however. Heidari claims that Sony's actions could
have major implications for general consumer rights: "While
most companies issue firmware upgrades to increase a product's
abilities over its life cycle, Sony has taken the unacceptable
and draconian approach of decreasing the PS3's capabilities by
actually destroying a core feature of the PS3.
"Imagine taking in your car for an oil change and having the
manufacturer remove your car's air conditioner,
radio, and half its horsepower because of
fears that other hypothetical individuals might abuse their
vehicles. It just doesn't make any sense, and it's a slap in
the face to the consumers that put their support behind the
product."
Kellar is confident, however, that the court will deny Sony's
motion, stating: "This case rests on Sony's misguided belief
that it has the unfettered ability to control how consumers use
the products they legitimately purchase."
With the hearing postponed due to Sony's 'unreasonable' demands
on Hotz's time, it could be a while before we find out if the
hacker – and his compatriots – are off the hook.

For those of you who use all of the ps3 capabilities, I'm sure by
now you have found it quite annoying switching back and forth
between your keyboard and controller.
Luckily, Sony made a sweet little device that combines them both
into one nice compact unit.
If you want to buy the Wireless Keypad,
you can buy it at Amazon here.
In comes the Playstation 3 Wireless Keypad This
is one accessory that I have boughten that I use all the time.
There are very few accessories that you need for the ps3, and I
think this is probably the most useful one of them all. If you
use features such as web browsing and texting, I highly suggest
you buy this wireless keypad. It is so convenient that it is
definitely worth the $45 price tag.
Let's look at the specs of this keypad:
- Turns your regular controller into a texting device – also
has mouse input capabilities.
- Attaches to any DualShock 3 or SixAxis wireless controller
- QWERTY keyboard designed for thumb only typing
- Touchpad mouse pad.
- Charges up right through the controllers USB port.
Only minor things that I don't like about it.
The only real thing wrong with it is that it doesn't have a back
lit keypad – makes it hard to figure out what you are pushing if
you like to game in the dark. However, after a month of practice
you can type without looking so it's not the biggest deal. Want
to buy the PS3 Wireless Keypad?
