Audio learning with ADD has to do not simply with hearing the words but listening to the volume, the style and the intonation of the words. If your child has a teacher that is very quiet, they may not be responding as well as they could be simply because of the volume and the delivery of the material.

Once you realize that your child does well with audio learning with ADD, there are multiple exercises you can do to help promote learning. In English, learning with ADD using tactile cues can involve cutting out words and having them reform them. A magnetic board can help you tremendously. There are various topics within these kits filled with words so that you can have your child create sentences that involve physically moving the words around.

In Science and Geography, you may want to spend some money on globes, microscopes, chemistry sets and other fun props so that they can get involved. You may even show them a whole new world of learning with ADD that they will begin to excel in the classroom because you are teaching them so much outside of the classroom.

• Have regular meetings with your child’s tutor to keep abreast of your child’s progress or any difficulties that the tutor or your child might be encountering.
• Do not expect overnight improvement.  This is an unreasonable expectation.  Be patient.
• Not all learning disabilities are equal.  Some are easier to deal with than others. Tutoring for students with learning disabilities will open doors for them that might otherwise have remained closed.
