time to make sure the ground you place the pool is ABSOLUTE LEVEL
as indicated in the manul; HINT - use a laser leveler(Costco or

pool you can call Intex from Monday to Friday, give it a little
time, but you will reach a live customer/product person to answer
all your questions. Out the box you can tell the product/all the
parts are made from first class materials and workmanship. If you
can go for the Intex 2500 GPH water pump, and the
Chlorinator(it REALLY does work - GREAT)make the purchase,it makes
a world of a difference. Please be careful about the chlorinator
try and find POOL salt, ask around, but try and not go for regular
salt, the pool salt seems to be the best. P.S. - the Intex pool
night light is awesome, it maybe a little expensive after you add

(More customer reviews)As a previous
poster noted, Amana does not acknowledge the existence of these
rebadged Haier units on its site. Unfortunately, Haier also does
not seem to acknowledge them, making support put-near impossible.
The a/c unit does require a small window (or a large one largely
blocked off) which can take some work if your windows are not the
right size, but that's true of any unit like these. It is a very
handy unit, without the need to empty buckets. It is also fairly
noisy, with odd controls that require the remote. It was great the
first year we had it, less so the second despite careful storage.
You'd probably do better with a domestic-production (or European,
or Japanese) unit if you can find one.

(More customer reviews)I love this
refrigerator. I have owned it for a year and a half (with no
problems). Below is my opinion based on each feature:
1. French Doors. I love them. THe left door has a flap that sort of
flattens out as you close the door to seal against the right
door.Because of the little flap, the right crisper drawer does not
pull all the way out if the left door is closed. Alternatively, you
CAN keep the right door closed and pull the left crisper drawer all
the way out. Anyhow I usually end up opening both doors when i go
to the fridge, so it will take 2 hands, but i still love the french
door look.
2. Inside water dispenser. Love that too. THe only bad design is
the button to get the water is a few inches above the actual
dispenser. it is difficult for me to get a glass of water with one
hand; i usually hold the glass with one hand and press the button
with the other. But i do like this design much better than the
'outside of the door' water dispenser; i think this fridge has a
cleaner look. I didn't even notice the inside water dispenser at
first, it takes up VERY LITTLE room which is great!
3. Drawer freezer. I like it enough for what I have (bachelorette
food like hot pockets and lean cuisines). I expected it to hold a
bit more than it really does. I do like the fact that it's wire
baskets that hold my food rather than a solid surface; sorta
eliminates cleaning.THe reason i don't TOTALLY love this freezer is
simply because if I had a bowl of liquid, i would have to be VERY
CAREFUL to freeze it (such as an extra water bowl for my dog).
Anything you want to be in the freezer will need to move/slide to
get it in there - i have to only fill the bowl 1/2 full of water or
else it will spill when i close the freezer door.
4. Adjustable "no spill" shelves. These are great. Everything is
adjustable which is perfect for me. I adjust them quite a bit
actually. Also there is a small lip on each shelf so if something
leaks, it won't drip down the back wall of the fridge. I like this
idea. Also the shelves pull out a few inches in case you have
something in the back you need to reach.
Overall this is a great fridge. It also beeps after a few minutes
if you accidently don't close a door all the way. Temperature of
both the fridge and freezer are displayed at the top inside of the
fridge. Very easy/intiutive to adjust. Those small flaws listed
above are very easy for me to live with; i would buy this
refrigerator again. And, i love the stainless steel look!

(More customer reviews)You can't get more
for your money than one of these pools, period. If it lasts 2 or 3
seasons so what. I replaced an Aqua Leasure after 2 or 3 with an
Intex 15X42. Both worked very well. The sides of the Intex are a
little more upright so you have more usable area inside the pool
which I like. This makes the sides a little less stable but even
with 9 year olds jumping over the sides you don't lose any or
hardly any water unless they a couple of them lay on the upper air
ring and try to push it down. The Intex and Aqua are both very
sensitive to level ground. Mine is on the patio concrete which
slopes away from the house for rain run off purposes. Even this
causes considerable uneveness in the water level. I added some
carpet pieces to the "low side" just under the outside edge. Helped
a little I think. Again, so what. Water is full on one side a few
inches low on the other. No one but me even notice. But don't try
to set up on more slope than I'm discribing. Filter works fine.
Skimmer pole is very sturdy. Ladder works fine and does not rust
for some reason like the Aqua Leisure did. I use clorine strips to
test water. Just dip and read. Very easy. Be sure to keep clorine
level up. I added clorine after tester showed white or none. Wrong,
add before clorine goes to zero level or you will get dark emerald
green swamp water as a surprise one day. Triple clorine or so
solved problem. Leslie pools were very helpful and refused to sell
me more expensive fix I was demanding."Just try the extra clorine
first, sir". Intex comes with nice cover too. Helps keep pool
clean, but if dirty you can do two things. Put garden hose in pool
with a weight on the end and run water to fill the hose. Turn off
and remove from hose bib and take quickly to lower ground setting
up a siphon. Get in pool and "vacume" up the dirt with slow even
strokes. On a hot day, if you like to keep a clean pool, very
pleasurable job. Oh, before the vacume get in and run around the
pool creating a spinning vortex or what ever you call it. In 30
minutes or more the dirt will consentrate on ridges in the bottom.
(hard not to have some)
Setup is of course much longer than the 15 minutes or so
advertized. The reason is because it is a little hard to spread the
pool out evenly. The warmer the weather the better to soften the
plastic. And once you get a inch of wate in the pool it becomes
VERY heavy and hard to change. Use the plastic tarp for sure so you
don't slide the pool on concrete or something abrasive. Infact try
not to slide the pool at all. Lift and fold instead. I had to move
the pool once this year (Wifes idea)folded and placed on piano
mover (lowboy with casters). Left in the sun and when I went to
move it, sides had fallen down and were scraping on concrete for
about 10 ft of travel. Yup, three holes.(Wifes fault) Used the hole
patch stuff from the inside and no leaks. Here in southern Cal I
keep it up for maybe 4 month per year. After that kids don't seem
to use it and water is not near as warm. My child loves it,
neighbors love it. Neighbor put in pool so it got lots less use
this season but they still come over to both houses. I paid $210 at
Leslies Pools in Fontana CA location (big selection)Have seen them
less and 50% higher other places. These are real pools by the way.
You'll want to spend a little time with them cleaning and checking
clorine, using filter etc. But after 4 months my pool is in the
garage waiting for next year and there "real" pool is in need of a
pool boy all year with all the other costs. Ok, their pool looks
nicer with all that concrete and faux rock and plants and lighting.
But for $200 bucks this pool is a deal. If I have the time I'll try
to upload some video later.

(More customer reviews)I gave this one a
chance after wasting $100 on the Krups Espremio, and I'm glad that
I did. I was initially impressed by the weight of the Mr Coffee in
the store; it seemed to be solidly constructed, so I tried it out
even though I had learned that Mr Coffee is now a Sunbeam company.
I'd had such terrible luck with Sunbeam products that I wouldn't
buy anything from them. I guess that's not true anymore.
- Others have complained about having to use demitasse cups with
it, but I sometimes use regular coffee cups and just remove the
drip tray--not an issue. My hands are a little unsteady (too much
coffee?), so I use pods to make sure that I don't get grounds on
the edge of the holder.
- The pods that I get at Starbucks fit just fine, so the poster who
had a problem with that might try buying them there.
- It's a little noisy, but not a LOT noisy like my old Maxim and
that Krups.
All in all, I'm very pleased with it.

(More customer reviews)First, let me say -
I am NOT a coffee snob.I just like what tastes good to ME, and this
Saeco makes it!
OK, that out of the way - my first foray into espresso makes was
the inexpensive Mr. Coffee pressure-driven espresso maker for about
$60.It worked OK, but only lasted about 6 months or so - at the
end, it took the poor thing AGES to make my shot!
So, I started checking reviews of all the machines in my price
range, which was $300 or less.
I finally decided to go with the Saeco Gran Crema.Couldn't be
happier! It's pretty automatic - you fill the reservoir with water,
turn it on, put your grind into the appropriate filter, or use one
of those single-serve pods if you want, attach it to the machine
and about 25 seconds later, I have enough to make what I like -
Cafe Americano with some heavy cream.I get plenty of nice thick
crema and good-flavored, but not bitter, brew. It's easy to clean up
(knock out the old grounds and you're ready to go again!) and has a
decent-sized drip reservoir.
I don't use the wand - what I do is heat up some water, fill my mug
half full, add 2 teaspoons heavy cream, and then my espresso. So I
can't speak to how it does frothing milk or dispensing hot water,
which I gather from the instructions it will do.
This machine sells for between $250 and $300 - I managed to score a
refurbished model for about a hundred bucks - IMHO it's WELL worth
that and I would have been happy to have paid the $250 for it!

Saeco 00126 Gran Crema Traditional Pump Driven
Espresso Machine
Product Description:
The Saeco Gran Crema is a machine built for simplicity and
durability. A pressurized style portafilter makes the Gran Crema a
great starter machine, reducing the amount of control the user
needs to have over the grind setting and tamp pressure. In
addition, its 5oz boiler ensures lasting steam power that is
dispensed through Saeco's signature Pannarello wand to take the
guesswork out of frothing and steaming. The Saeco Gran Crema is
both stylish and resilient, providing cafe quality espresso for
years to come. There are two types of portafilters: pressurized
style and commercial style. The Gran Crema uses the pressurized
style, which is easier to use than the commercial as it is more
forgiving. The portafilter is made up of three parts, the handle,
the filter holder, and the filter basket. Under the filter basket
is a small spring-loaded valve that will not open until the
pressure in the portafilter has built up.

(More customer reviews)After coming to
Amazon and reading the reviews (good & bad), we took a chance
and bought 3 of these washers. I should say we own another 3000 psi
washer from another manufacturer, the minute we tested these we
knew they were not putting out the advertised 3000 psi, long story
short....we did what none of the other reviewers here have done, we
installed a pressure gauge on each of them and guess what, the
pressure output is 1800, 2100 and 2400 psi respectively. So to all
the "Happy" and "Pleased" reviewers, try this test and you may find
out that you did not received what you paid for. While these
numbers may be enough for most homeowners, this test tells me 2
things, 1) these machines are not really refurbished but rather
just repaired, cleaned and repacked, a refurbished machine is
supposed to be brought up to factory specs., not only cosmetically
but also mechanicallyand 2) the pump on them have a very short life
left, by nature any pressure washer output will decline with time,
I personally think these are almost at the end of their lifespan.
Did we just got lucky?, maybe, I don't know, but if this would have
been just one machine I would say yes, we were the lucky winner,
but we are talking 3 different machines. In all fairness, I must
say they started quickly and with no effort, were not damaged, as a
matter of fact, they look new and all included items were inside
the box. I have taken 2 of them to the local service center,
hopefully they will bring the pressure to the 3000 psi level,
however, I'm not holding my breath...personally I don't think the
engine has enough power to go past the 2500-2700 psi output. If
they don't fix them, we'll see what other recourse we have. Will
update accordingly, in the mean time, be warned....you may not be
getting what you expect and are paying for.

(More customer reviews)Where to begin?
This machine can do it all, from a strong shot of espresso to a
flawless cappuccino, all in under minute. If you can tie your
shoes, you can use one of these machines.
I looked in to this machine after using an older Capresso model at
a friend's house. I was always impressed by how easily and quickly
he could make a variety of drinks for guests, not to mention the
quality of their appearance and flavor.
This machine comes with two different frothing systems, one is a
more traditional bullet style frother, while the other can
automatically steam or froth milk. This is where the J5 really
shines. In no time you can froth yourself milk that would make the
most seasoned barista jealous, and then push a single button to
instantly brew piping hot coffee.
The machine starts with whole beans of your choosing and grinds
them just for the drink you are making. This ensures that you'll
get the freshest tasting coffee cup after cup.
What I like most about this machine though is the variety of drinks
it can make. If you have a guest over who isn't a big coffee
drinker you can use the machine to make instant hot water for tea,
or my favorite trick: run chocolate milk through the steamer for
instant hot chocolate. Of course for the rest of us, the pressure
brewing system in this machine will allow you to say goodbye to
expensive coffee drinks, and become your own favorite barista.

Jura-Capresso 13333 Impressa J5 Automatic Coffee and
Espresso Center, Piano White
Product Description:
Equipped with an 18-bar pump and 1450-watt stainless-steel-lined
thermoblock heating system, this automatic coffee and espresso
center can produce cup after cup of coffee with no down time in
between. The machine's unique two-step pre-infusion cycle ensures
every brew delivers optimal flavor extraction and a creamy crema
layer. In the first stage, freshly ground coffee gets compressed,
then injected with a small burst of hot water, causing the moist
grounds to expand. In the second stage, brewing water courses
through the engorged coffee grounds.
This user-friendly appliance combines not only powerful
performance, but also a simple, elegant design with easy-to-use
controls. Its front panel offers six buttons in the shape of a
ring: two buttons for espresso (single and double), two for coffee
(single and double), one for hot water, and one for steam. All of
these functions are individually programmable. For example, the
strength, temperature, and size of each of the coffee buttons can
be set, as can the amount of water delivered in a hot water cycle,
and the amount of time a steam cycle lasts. The 10-digit
alpha-numeric LCD display clearly communicates all functions and
settings in any one of five languages. The top of the unit provides
three more controls: two buttons (one for power, the other for
maintenance) and an illuminated rotary control dial for overriding
any settings for coffee and steam. Choose from 11 programming
options by pushing the integrated rotary button.
The coffee and espresso center also showcases several other
innovative features. Its new ceramic-valve technology shortens the
flow of coffee, resulting in a hotter temperature and more crema in
the cup. The machine's three hot-water temperature settings produce
a hotter Cafe Americano, pre-warm coffee cups faster, and
accommodate a larger variety of tea preparation. It also provides a
dual, butterfly, coffee-spout design that moves up/down and in/out
to accommodate a larger range of cups.
Other highlights include a commercial-grade, solid-steel conical
burr grinder with six fineness settings and low-noise operation; a
9-ounce bean container with aroma cover and low-level bean
indicator; a self-adjusting brewing chamber, which holds from 5 to
16 grams of ground coffee to make up to two 8-ounce cups of coffee
at a time; a sensor-activated pre-ground coffee funnel; a
clock/timer with programmable auto-on and auto-off capabilities;
and a 71-ounce removable water container with a Clearyl
water-filtration system and low-water indicator. Even more, the
machine provides two interchangeable frother systems, which include
a Dual Frother Plus for manual operation and a frothXpress for
automatic frothing and steaming. A concealed compartment neatly
stores the measuring scoop and the Dual Frother Plus attachment.
The coffee and espresso center measures 16-1/2 by 11 by 13-1/4
inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

(More customer reviews)I have two of the
Haier 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioners, each with a heater and
three speeds. Have been using them for three seasons and really
like them. It takes less than 15 minutes to snap hoses on
connectors, place in window, add foam strip to prevent air &
bugs from coming in. No heavy lifting!I suggest putting some no
odor silicone spray [food grade from Amazon or Grainger Industrial
Supply] or Armor All which has some silicone in it, on the parts
that snap together. It makes it easier next season to put on and
remove the hoses too. Also, run a bead of silicone sealant around
the tiny space between the hose connector that fits into window
adapter. No air or bugs can get in that way. I'm writing almost
everything that isn't in the owner's manual.
Fortunately there are two collapsible 5 ft (1.5 M) tubes/hoses--one
for air intake and one for heat & humidity exhaust.Note: one
tube portable ac units are much less efficient than this Haier and
draw hot, outside air in thru cracks or openings somewhere in your
home or apartment. They also take longer to cool than this two hose
ac. Haier did it right with this product. One improvement needed is
a 24 hour timer instead of the 12 hr one at present.
If it is very humid often (59% INside!) this Haier unit may
occasionally require draining from a plug in the back near the
bottom into a flat pan. I usually wheel the unit on its easily
movable casters to the top of stairs; then, put a pan on the next
step down; untwist the drain plug and let the water fill the pan.
Otherwise, you need to use a flat, two inch high pan to collect the
water. Although we have 88%+ humidity here in the Northeast, my
draining of the water has been usually limited to at the end of the
season. Some humidity does blow out the exhaust hose. One thing:
the window adapter fits windows up to 36 inches. One of my windows
is 38" which means I have to fill in the extra space with cardboard
or foam. The D.I.Y.'er might get some longer plastic, heat-bend it
and make it fit better. We have double-hung windows (lift up
&/or pull top one down) with screens & storm windows
(insulates somewhat in winter). I set the window adapter with
snap-on/off hoses to blow through the screen. It adds some security
as the storm window is locked in place above the screen opening.
You should put a bolt locking device (see locksmith or hardware
store) above or beside the opening to prevent a thief from opening
your window from the outside. It should be instantly openable in
case of fire and need to escape.
Don't expect a portable AC to do as well as an in the window or
wall unit. 12,000 btu portable AC = about 8,000 btu in a
window/wall Air Conditioner (by experience). And, it will not get
as cold. Although Imeasured the temperature (digitally) coming out
of the unit at 61 degrees F (16 degrees C) it will not make the air
in the room as cold as a regular air conditioner. The heater
setting for the cooler or cold winter isn't worth the money. Better
is a $20.00 ceramic heater with fan from one of the stores or
Amazon. I don't use the built-in heater as it doesn't produce much
heat and is noisier than the ceramic one. The unit has a setting to
use alone as a dehumidifier,However, a separate 40+ pint (19+
liter) a day dehumidifier is a better choice. I use one of those in
our basement with a 15 foot garden hose attached to the drain plug.
Without a dehumidifier things get mildew, smelly and moldy with 70%
humidity.A word to the wise!
If you live in some dry areas of the country, a "Swamp Cooler"
(love that name) is the item for you. It cools by evaporation of
water and adds the humidity to the air. Others may prefer a central
air conditioner with the addition of an in-room humidifier for
those desert areas of the country. Remember that a humidifier in
the winter (used October thru May, in Northeast USA) prevents dry
& cracked skin, cracked wooden furniture, needless coughing.
And, if you get a cold/flu or pneumonia,it makes it much easier on
your lungs, pain, energy [coughing lowers energy], let alone skin.
A humidifier even helps keep a piano in tune longer. Add a air
purifier with fan & filter for best results. Those ozone units
are bad for your health; but, that is another review to write! The
Haier remote works fine, although its buttons aren't clearly
labeled as to what each does. Save your owner's manual in a zip
bag. At the end of the season remove the hoses and cover your Haier
with a large plastic bag to keep the dust off/out. Hope that helps
you.

(More customer reviews)This is my first
self-propelled mower. I'm coming from a basic, no-frills machine
that I bought some years ago when I just wanted something cheap
that would do the job.
I bought this mower at the local Depot, cheaper than the advertised
price here even after tax was added. I brought it home and unpacked
it.Setup was done in just a couple of minutes -- unlike my previous
mower, this one is almost entirely assembled in the box. All you
need to do is put the handle on and attach the blade clutch lever
to it.No tools required.
Next, add the fluids. The mower comes with the right amount of
30-weight oil. Then fill up the gas tank, and you're off.
The mower has an engine kill switch like you'd find on a
motorcycle. Switch to "I" (Ignition). Pull the starter cord.Mine
fired up on the first pull! The engine runs smoothly (and much
quieter than my old mower). You don't need to have the safety bar
pulled in at this point -- the engine will run, but the blades will
not spin.
Pull the safety bar in and the blades start spinning. Release it
and they stop, but the engine keeps running. Kill the engine by
flipping the ignition switch to OFF.
That's cool. With my old mower, every time I let go of the safety
bar it killed the engine and I would have to pull the starter cord
again to get it going.
The propulsion is really nice. The upper section of the grip is
spring-loaded and slides up and down the vertical handlebar rods
slightly. The more pressure you apply to the handlebar, the faster
the mower will want to move.Release the bar, and the mower stops
moving. There is another, secondary handlebar underneath that can
be used to circumvent the propulsion entirely, if desired.
There is also a large lever that allows you to change between
mulching and bagging. This can be done at any time. With the bag
attached, pulling the lever to the rear will start bagging, while
pushing the lever forwardwill close off the opening to the bag and
start mulching instead. The mower also comes with the side discharge
attachment, which installs easily and is very effective.
When you're done mowing, there is a port on the side that accepts a
standard garden hose. Attach a hose to the mower and turn it
on.Then start the mower and start the blades spinning. It does a
really good job of cleaning out the mower for you. When the water
coming out starts to run clear, just shut off the hose and let the
blades keep spinning for another few seconds until the mower is
dry.You will still need to clean out some of it, though, like the
bag port, which the hose doesn't reach.
The Briggs & Stratton engine seems strong, easily handling
whatever horrible things I threw at it (with a caveat, explained
below). Propulsion was also strong, and even going up a steep
incline behind my house required only about 5% of the effort
required with my previous mower. The overall build quality is
excellent, and it's a real looker to boot.
There are a couple of minor quibbles, but nothing significant
enough to merit the loss of a star. I'm not a huge fan of the white
wheels, which were already turning green after the first mow. And
the wheels themselves don't turn as freely as those on my old
mower. Presumably this is because of the propulsion mechanism, so I
guess that could be the case with any self-propelled mower. And
finally, when in mulching mode, the mower seems to stall more
frequently than my old mower when it hits the hard stuff. I live in
Florida, and it rains a lot in the summer.Sun + lots of water =
grass that's sometimes a foot high in a week. So if the grass gets
too long in between mows, this mower will sometimes stall because
there's way too much material to mash around. However, switching to
side discharge or bagging solves the problem immediately, and the
mower will cut ANYTHING.

(More customer reviews)This pool is
great!Setup was relatively easy but you do need a helping hand (my
13 y.o. helped me) and there are some things you should be aware of
before you purchase it.
1. If you purchase the 18' X 9' X 52" pool with saltwater filter,
you'll need 115 pounds of salt which cost me $30.00 at a local pool
supply store.I bought 4 bags (each bag weighed 40 pounds) and used
slightly less than 3 to start the system. You'll need to add more
salt occasionally (30 pounds or so) when the code on the filter
tells you to do so.
2.5-6 feet of free space is required around the perimeter of the
pool.(I didn't have this space available and had to change my
desired location for the pool.)This is because the U-shaped metal
supports, attached to the top rail, lay flat on the ground
outwardly during setup. Then you pick the top rail off the ground
which makes the U-shaped supports slide into place. This starts
holding the pool up and in place.Your helper then attaches the pool
liner to the bottom of each support.I hope this makes sense. You
definitely need that extra space around the pool!
3.Your area should be very level.Take the time to clear rocks that
could puncture the liner and to prep the area well.I think the best
place for the pool would be on level cement.

(More customer reviews)We have owned
several home espresso machines and this is by far the best one
ever. The ability to froth milk automatically just before or just
after making coffee or espresso is unique. In most other units it's
necessary to purge the water system before steaming milk and then
purging it again to regain brewing temperature. In this unit you
just press the button and frothed milk foams out into your cup, and
is pre-programmed to stop at the right moment. The milk unit can be
removed and stored in a refrigerator and the parts are easy to
clean. It even tells you when to run a cleaning or decalcifying
session. Programable in English and several European languages.
It's also easy to make hot cocoa by frothing chocolate milk.
Electronic controls dose out the amount of coffee or espresso from
a short shot of espresso (single or doppio) to a mug of coffee. It
turns itself on and off and pre-measures the coffee you grind and
the strength of your coffee. This is an electronic wizard that does
lots more than brew a great cup of coffee. This is an ideal machine
for an office or a household with a big entertainment kitchen.

(More customer reviews)We tried "Pool
Perfect with Phos Free" this year for the first time. We've had this
pool for 30 years and it's NEVER BEEN THIS CLEAR! No doubt that
Phos Free deserves much of the credit.
We also installed a Hayward/ Gold Line chlorine generator this
year.(Hopefully I will find time to review that product too). That
may deserve some of the credit. We like that product too, but if I
had to choose which product to try, I would try the phos-free
first. Why?Because it does not require an up-front capital
investment, nor installation. You just add to your pool.
Let me tell you about our experience and what we've learned.
A clear understanding of how this product works will help you
succeed with it.You pour a small amount of Phos-Free in your
skimmer. It scavenges phosphorus from the water so that algae has no
phosphorus.
Why phosphorus?Phosphorus is one of the essential macro-nutrients
that plants need. That's why they put phosphorus in fertilizer. If
you buy 5-10-5 fertilizer, it's got 10% phosphorus; the middle
number refers to the amount of phosphorus.Somebody figured out that
phosphorus is the easiest nutrient to remove - and starve the algae
- and they created PhosFree to do the job.Their web site [...] has
a lot of info about this. I found the web site to be informative
and credible.I majored in chemistry in college so I'm pretty well
prepared to judge its credibility.
Even some pool professionals don't understand this product.PhosFree
can't kill algae. It can only prevent it from growing. Some pool
guys told me that they had tried a phosphate scavenger once in a
pool that was green, green, green, and chlorine would not fix
it.They tried their brand of phosphate scavenger (not Phos Free)
and the pool was still green. They might have had more success if
they understood phosphate scavengers. They used a phosphate test
kit and they swore that there was no phosphorus in the pool (the
test kit can detect as little as 100 parts per BILLION).They did
not understand that the phosphorus was already in the algae. So if
you can vacuum away any algae (or leaves) before you start, that
will help.Leaves (or grass, etc) can release phosphorus and other
nutrients as they decay, feeding the algae.
The pool guys also might have had more success if they had used
enzymes. This product also includes an enzyme that they call
PoolPerfect. It breaks down organic matter, including dead algae,
releasing the phosphate so that the PhosFree can scavenge it up.The
pool guys might have had more success if they had used this
combination product.
How did I use it?I bought a phosphorus test kit to monitor
phosphorus levels so I could tell what's going on.I learned a
lot.You can do this too, or you can just add a little bit every
week.I noticed that as it scavenges phosphorus, it also raises the
pressure in the sand filter. So I guess that the phosphorus is
captured in the sand filter until it ultimately gets backwashed
down the drain.Using PhosFree I could keep the phosphorus below 100
ppb.The aforementioned web site states that algae cannot divide
with less than 125 ppb of phosphate in the water.
I have read everything on their web site [...].I've used the
product for a full season, and our pool is CLEARER THAN EVER, even
though we're using less chlorine, and we stopped using other
algaecide completely. We like having less of that other junk in the
water.
What about cost?We found that a maintenance dose of 4 to 8 ounces
per week is sufficient for our 25,000 gallon pool.So a two liter
bottle of "PoolPerfect plus PhosFree" lasted us more than 8
weeks. That comes down to about$5.00 per week or about $100 for the
pool season. But we're saving money by using less chlorine, less
algaecide, and running the filter for fewer hours per day.We like
the fact that we don't have to handle as much chlorine and we've
reduced our environmental impact. And we're using the pool more.
We'll definitely be using this product again next year.
Addendum (August 2010):Now in our third season using this
product.Still happy with it.Still recommending it to friends. One
thing that I've learned:use a paint stirrer stick.The phosphate
scavenger settles to the bottom of the jug.Shaking doesn't stir the
stuff off of the bottom because it makes too much foam.So I use a
paint stirrer stick - like they give you when you buy a can of
paint. This works well to stir the stuff from the bottom of the
jug. Also:next year I plan to try a related product called Pool
First Aid when I open the pool. One last thing: I called their tech
support line and found them to be competent and helpful.

Saeco S-TT-ST Talea Touch Super-Automatic Espresso
Machine
Product Description:
With 15 bars of pump pressure, this super-automatic espresso
machine brews coffeehouse-quality espressos, lattes, and
cappuccinos with minimal effort, in just a few minutes. Its
innovative brewing system makes it easy to create an infinite
variety of coffee drinks from just one machine. Turning the dial
either right or left changes the strength and consistency of coffee
by increasing or decreasing the water pressure moving through the
grounds. The unit's OptiDose system has an adjustable 7- to
10-1/2-gram doser, which regulates the amount of beans to grind per
serving, while its aroma system injects hot water into ground
coffee to maximize flavor extraction. The unit's user-friendly
black-and-white touch-screen technology offers special icons that
give clear, instant details for each function. The unit will
automatically grind the right amount of coffee, tamp, brew, and
dispense used grounds into an internal dregdrawer, all at the touch
of an icon.
The machine also provides an adjustable built-in ceramic disc
grinder, which delivers a more even grind, allowing for perfect
dosing and blending, plus it operates considerably quieter than
stainless-steel grinders. Especially convenient if a guest wants
decaffeinated espresso, the machine comes with a pre-ground bypass
doser. Simply pour the pre-ground decaffeinated or flavored coffee
into the pre-ground coffee funnel without having to empty the beans
in the grinder.
For added convenience, the espresso machine offers a
stainless-steel Pannarello attachment for steaming milk or
dispensing hot water, as well as a stainless-steel boiler system
with Rapid Steam technology, which means no waiting between
frothing milk and brewing espresso. The unit's easy-to-clean system
features a patented brew group that can be removed at the push of a
button for rinsing and chemical-free cleaning. Other highlights
include indicator lights, a cup-warming surface, a removable
57-ounce water tank, a motorized adjustable drip tray, and an Aqua
Prima water filter, as well as an adjustable coffee-volume dial,

worked for about 2 minutes, since then I have not been able to get
any ice or water from the door.Whirlpool sent some parts and
admitted it is a common problem because the waterlines freezes, but
it still doesn't work. I attempted to defrost it with a hair dryer
for 2 hours but that didn't work either. It freezes produce closing
the humidifier slots helps some. The touch panel is fussy it doesn't
always register your preference.2 repair calls and it is still not
fixed this is a high end disaster. This is a new design and
Whirlpool has some serious design work to do on this model.
