(More customer reviews)This grill really
is fantastic.I've had it for 2 months now, with absolutely no
buyers remorse at all.
Pros:
1.Excellent heat control with a 3-zone heating system.Turn off the
middle zone, and you go from direct heating to convection style
grilling.I'm finding the capability to switch from direct to
convection-style heating to be useful for cooking things like fish,
chicken, and ribs without scorching the outside.
2.Fantastic temperature control from 250 degrees F, all the way up
to 600 degrees. The temperature gauge on the front is really
useful.
3.The fuel indicator is a nice feature.
4.It's very simple to remove any parts that tend to get messy and
put into the dishwasher.Cleanup is a snap. The parts fit in the
dishwasher without taking up all the space.
Cons (really just a few minor annoying things):
1.The lower cabinet is not water proof.Anything left in it will get
wet in the rain.
2.My lower cabinet doors tend to swing open too easily.I added a
magnetic door latch to deal with the problem.
3.The sideburner does not put out that many BTU's.It's more of a
warmer than a burner.I ussually have to light the sideburner with a
match, as the lighting switch doesn't seem to consistently work for
the sideburner.
4.This grill is really heavy.Don't expect to throw it in the back
of your pickup and take to the park. It's a 2-man job to move it
around.
Overall fantastic grill, with a few minor annoyances.I give it 5
stars, mostly for the excellent temperature control, and the fact
that I've gone from a grill meister that scorched the outside of
the meat 50% of the time (with my previous grill), to perfect
consistent results everytime.

(More customer reviews)I got lucky on my
purchase of the 2005 Genesis Gold B. Apparently the store I
purchased it at put Genesis Silver B barcodes on the Gold B boxes,
so I ended up getting charged 499 instead of 599. The grill is
worth every penny so far. It's a miser when it comes to gas, and it
heats up to 550 degrees in about 5-10 minutes! That's amazingly
fast. New to the 2005 models are the doors, and it's apparent,
because they're my only complaint about the design of the unit.
They just don't open and close perfectly. Also be warned that Weber
Grills in 2005 no longer ship with a propane tank. You must have
one or buy one seperately. I wish the burners were further apart
for indirect cooking of large pieces of meat. I had a large rack of
ribs, and the edges got charred while I had the middle burner
turned off. Next time I'll use foil. Chalk that mistake up to not
knowing better.
Make sure you have someone around when you're putting this grill
together. Step 3 requires you to put the top onto the legs, and
this requires 2 people. Other than that, I was able to quickly put
everything together and was grilling within an hour of starting the
project. I really wish Weber would start using words in their
instructions rather than just try to convey all the instructions
with pictures. But like I said, I was able to easily get everything
put together. I also bought the appropriate grill cover from Amazon
and it fits like a glove. Great investment.
I owned a Weber Baby Q while living in an apartment, and loved it
to death. It's now relegated to beach trip duty while my new
Genesis Gold B is the workhorse of the house. Good job Weber!

(More customer reviews)I have used a Weber
One Touch Gold for many years, but the truth of the matter is that
in Northern Michigan winter, it is frequently more than I care to
attempt to try to get the fire going. Nomatter whether I use the
chimney or parrafin starters, that cold wind does not get me
enthused to charcoal grill in January.
So my sons gave me a Performer as a surprise gift (Bless those
lads!!)! And, like most Weber products, it's a winner.
ASSEMBLY: It took less than twenty minutes for my older son and I
to assemble it. The directions are crystal clear, the parts are
well and carefully packed, and the only item not included is the
small propane container, which is readily available at hardware
stores. (Our local Home Depot had four packs for just under
$10.00.)
QUALITY: This is a solidly built unit. The kettle bolts to the
frame with four large bolts, and the adjoining work surface is
similarly attached. While some have complained that it is not as
good as its predecessor, I can vouch for the overall quality of
design and construction.
PERFORMANCE: With the gift came a demand for "RIBS!!" There were
enough people here to warrant a comparison test with my old One
Touch Gold. The Performer had a fire ready to go about 8 minutes
before the One Touch was ready, and the fire was hotter by over 50
degrees as measured on the thermometers in the handles. (I believe
that the air vents at the bottom are larger in the Performer, which
would account for this.)
The work surface adjacent to the kettle is worth the additional
cost of this unit over the One Touch. No longer is there a need to
balance a tray of goodies on the rim of the kettle with one hand,
while trying to place food items on the grill with the other. The
tip out charcoal storeage bin is another neat feature.
CONCLUSION: I am an admitted Weberholic. I don't think that they
make a grill that is less than excellent, and I cannot imagine any
feature that a charcoal griller would want on a grill that this
unit lacks. So, now there are four Weber Grills on the deck, and
while I will still use the gas grills a lot, I know that this
coming January will see charcoal grilling in Northern Michigan.
Thanks, Weber!!
ADDENDUM: I got some hardwood charcoal (not briquets!) and have
done burgers, chops and steaks. The fire is super hot and lasts
about 40 minutes, but the flavor of the meat is superb!!

order when Amazon kept pushing my delivery date back. I still
bought the genesis gold B from my local hardware store. It cooks
great and has all the features I was looking for. It heats up and
is ready to cook in a couple of minutes.
I upgraded to the gold because the grill, flavorizer bars ( those
things the juice drips on and gives the flavor to the meat) and
burners are stainless steel instead of porcelin coated steel.I
really like having a second side table instead of side burner.

(More customer reviews)Have been running
it for a week. Here are my observations:
1) This unit is loud. I mean it, it's LOUD!!! Even when running at
minimal speed, with "energy saving" mode on. Not sure how many
decibels (db) it pumps out, but it's pretty close to my vacuum
cleaner. In a 200 sq.ft. room, you won't be able to sleep or watch
TV or conduct a conversation with this air conditioner on,
granted!
2) It doesn't cool our room (280 sq.ft) well. They say it's 8,000
BTU. Well, I would subjectively say it's closer to 6,000 than
8,000. The outcoming air is just marginally cooler than the room
air. Also, the internal temperature sensor is off by about 5
degrees. Right now it shows 68'F, perhaps to look good and show
that the A/C is doing it's job... However my wall room thermometer
stands 72'F! Well, here in the U.S, we call this cheating. Big
no-no.
Bottom line: we're returning this one back, even though we got it
cheap, with 30% off the price sticker. Well, now I know why... you
get what you pay.

(More customer reviews)If you don't like
using a computer to get fancy up-to-the-minute personalized weather
forecasts, then you may prefer this to the TV, newspaper, or
radio.
But it is disappointing that the outdoor temperature from the
wireless sensor that they give you (the most basic of information,
that changes the most quickly) is the least convenient piece of
data to get out of the system.
You know the old joke about the weatherman who predicts a warm
sunny day and doesn't have the sense to look out the window and see
the cold rain falling?
That's what I'm reminded of, after spending an hour trying to
discover a convenient way to find out what the temperature is
outside with my fancy new wireless, internet-connected "weather
direct" device.
I finally read in the manual how to get it to show me the indoor
temperature all the time on the display (use the "+" key...).But to
see the outdoor temperature, I either have to wait up to 40 seconds
for the right text to scroll by on the display, or I have to reach
over and press a button on it and look quickly before it goes
away. And you need to brace the unit to press the button since it
doesn't come with any mounting screws.Sort of a pain if it is in an
awkward place. That is still better than when I started on the slow
scroll speed - it was 60 seconds then.
Next I thought, hey - they say this thing lets you find out your
own outdoor temperature via the internet (e.g. if you're on
vacation). So I should be able to write a program to do that and
show it to me on a corner of my computer screen.
But sadly, the web site only shows it to you via a proprietary
"flash" plugin. That means that you can't see it on even the
fanciest of mobile phones like the iPhone, Blackberry or Android,
or via a number of other common internet devices either. And you
have to share your own temperature with [...] in order to see it
yourself.Or so I' told - the Weather Direct tech support person
couldn't log in himself and said it looked like the site was "being
updated".And he confirmed that there wasn't an easier way to get
the outdoor temperature.
I think I'll go get a simple wireless indoor outdoor thermometer,
since the current temperature is what I look for dozens of times a
day and there are so many ways to get the forecast.

(More customer reviews)We looked for about
a year, comparing ranges, and finally decided on the Bertazzoni. We
couldn't be happier.
What we love:
Stove top - It has 4 different burners, which allow you to simmer,
heat fast, use small or large pans, and really regulate the heat.
The double burner (one burner inside the other) comes in handy to
evenly heat larger pans -- I can hardly wait to try to make some
paella.
One feature we really like is the "reverse" regulation with the
knobs. If you want really low flame, you crank the knob to where it
stops. In most ranges it works the other way around - the low flame
is in the lowest position - with gas ranges it is really hard to
find the precise spot between having a low flame, and having no
flame. The way the Bertazzoni is designed, your burner is on and
you are sure you have it at the lowest setting.
It is well built, and sturdy. The guy that installed it thought it
was a Viking from the weight and way it feels -- but it is about
1/3 of the price of a Viking.
It has a 2 year warranty. We needed some adjustments and the
lighting mechanism of two burners was failing a few weeks after it
was delivered. I called Bertazzoni - the parts arrived in a few
days, and the technician was here the day after the parts arrived.
Excellent customer service.
No digital controls!!! When looking for ranges, we found most of
them have digital controls. I had heard that some of these ranges
(especially in the $1000-$3000 range) have very noisy fans. After
talking to a few sales people, I found out that since the digital
controls are not supposed to be exposed to the heat, these ranges
need an additional cooling/fan element to keep the digital controls
from getting too hot. At that point I was on a mission to find a
good range with manual knobs.
It has a beautiful design! We didn't buy it for the looks, but it
is certainly a bonus.
FEATURES WE LIKE, BUT MAY NOT BE FOR EVERYONE
The oven is relatively small, as ovens go. It is wide, but not very
tall. You can fit 2 pyrex with no problem, but you probably
wouldn't be able to fit a turkey and a pyrex. Since we seldomly
need that big of a volume in an oven, we solved the problem by
buying a convection-microwave for under $300 for the rare
occassions when we need more oven volume.
On the positive, since it is a smaller oven, it takes less energy
to heat up, saving up on gas usage.
When the oven is on, the sound of the fan is noticeable. We don't
mind it, but it is something you may want to consider.
SOME LIMITATIONS
The minimum theoretical temperature of the oven is 275 degrees - so
if you often cook or bake dishes that require much lower
temperature, this may not be the oven for you. We recently made
some dishes that required the oven to be 250 degrees. We found we
could achieve this by having the oven at the lowest setting, and
setting the trays in the top oven shelf.
Since the controls are not digital (see above), it takes a little
getting used to the oven knob to get the precise temperature
control. We have a $5 oven thermometer, and that works very
well.
For the price and the quality, we couldn't be happier.

(More customer reviews)I'm a licensed
poultry technician with many years of incubation & hatching
experience, with units large and small.I am often asked for advice
on which table top unit is best.I'm happy to endorse this
particular design.
There is also a video demonstration of this unit available on
YouTube if you care to search it out.Step by step, including all
optional components.I do not have any part in selling this unit,
only endorse it as the best hobby level table top unit available
today, for the money.
You will see many table top incubators, all appearing very similar
in style and composition. So what makes one better than another?
The Genesis Hova-Bator Model # 1588 is my number one choice when
recommending a unit to teachers, pre-school directors or other
small scale hatching projects.
Things which make this unit a "stand-out"
First, the basic design...
The top inverts and nests neatly into the bottom for storage,
requiring less space when not in use. When the top is in the
operating position, this incubator has plenty of space for larger
eggs, without the extension ring offered by some other
manufacturers/models.It's not sharply squared.. this appears
cosmetic, but actually, allows air to circulate more efficiently
than sharp cornered units do.
Efficiency, this unit has the heating coil neatly wrapped on the
fan unit, rather than spread out over the interior top surface like
others. This is a plus when it comes to cleaning between
hatches.
There is a large viewing area. This is a great advantage when you
are explaining the hatching process to lots of little people who
"want to see"...other units often have two smaller viewing
windows. The top window is very clear, without distortion.
Another strong feature is, the digital thermostat does not have an
external adjustment for little fingers to fiddle with.It comes
pre-set from the factory and is ready for chicken egg incubation,
right out of the box.You unpack the unit, put the elements
together, plug it in and you're off and running.24 hours later
(after temps stabilize) you put in the fertile hatching eggs and
incubation begins... it's THAT simple.
I tested the interior temperature (factory set) with a
certified/calibrated digital thermometer and found the unit I
received to operate at 99.8 deg. F.this is a very good temperature
for forced air incubators. This temperature was held to a "T".No
further adjustment was necessary.
IF you are hatching something other than chicken eggs, you can
indeed adjust the digital thermostat from inside the unit top. There
are very detailed instructions on how to do this, with the
unit.
One of the strongest features this incubator offers, and why I am
so enthusiastic about it, it the fact that it runs on 12V DC
current. The plug goes through an adapter for your 110v wall
socket. Why is this important?Well, because if there is a power
loss, due to a spring storm, you no longer have to worry about
losing all your developing embryos.GQF offers a 12V DC adapter with
the unit, which can be clipped onto a battery... car batteries, for
example, are 12V DC.This allows the unit to keep running, warming
and circulating air, in the event of an outage. When power comes
back on, simply plug it back into the regular plug in adapter. This
is a BIG advantage over other units.
Accessories I recommend with this unit are:
1- The automatic egg turner... you don't have to worry about
weekends, or forgetting to turn your eggs.It runs on a 4 hour
cycle.
2- Definitely get the optional 12V battery adapter, because you
just never know when your power may go out.
If you are a teacher, about to begin an incubation unit in your
class... this is the one I would use for the class room. You don't
have to worry about little Johnny touch-touch, altering the
temperature when you are not looking.
For the hobbyist or home school educator, this is a sort of sure
shot incubator.42 chicken egg capacity.... if you are into quail,
then quail cups come with the automatic turner kit.. with a
capacity of 120 quail per hatch.
The owner's manual is detailed and well presented, complete with
photos and illustrations.Get the entire kit, you won't be
sorry.
There is also an optional goose egg set for the automatic turner,
holds fewer than the chicken egg set up, but the unit is more than
large enough to accommodate goose or swan eggs.
One of the Sponsored links for this listing is for
www.Strombergschickens.com this is where I obtained my unit as
reviewed, with all the mentioned accessories.A flawless
transaction.
Enjoy...Fred,Fred's Fine Fowl

(More customer reviews)I purchased this
model because it is one of the few available which can measure both
indoor and outdoor relative humidity (RH%) and indoor barometric
pressure without too many other unecessary features. It also had a
nice stainless steel/champagne color, matching well with our
kitchen decor. Setup and initial programming was easy, however,
batteries (3 AA in the main unit and 2 AA in the sensor) were not
included. There is a similar model, WS-9035U, which has a wind
meter--recommend you pass on it, because anemometer placement is
tricky. Wind speeds are highly dependent on neighboring structures
and trees. Basically, wind meters want to be on a pole in the
middle of an empty field. There are also some other (more
expensive) "Weather Channel" branded models which have Heat Index
or Wind Chill capability. (I guess if you live in Arizona you'd
choose the Heat Index model...) The only other model I would
consider buying is WS-9018U, which has identical features as the
WS-9032U, but has a disctinctive oval shape. Bear in mind that you
will pay more for that shape, and the display items appear smaller.
I found the TX4U remote unit to be accurate and well calibrated,
revealing errors in my plain ol' outdoor temperature dial. The
instructionsdon't say a whole lot about locating the TX4U, but you
must keep it out of direct sunlight. Overall, I'm very pleased with
my purchase and am spending hours and hours staring at it!(-:

(More customer reviews)I you're of average
or above intelligence and haven't dropped out of high school this
is a great little product. You can heat your hot chocolate or tea up
just fine.Don't leave the house with it on, however.A third grader

(More customer reviews)Bottom line:
professional results were very different for pH, Phosphorous, and
Potash on the same sample of dirt. But the cheap kit was much
faster.
I did an experiment with the same sample of dirt to determine if I
could trust these kits. The Ferry Morse pH test takes < 5
minutes. Four portion color scale for 5.0 to 8.0 was easy to read.
Some interpretation is necessary for colors between the scales.
Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potash tests require about 30 minutes to
complete all three simultaneously. The color charts were much more
difficult to discern than the pH test after 10 minutes. The actual
results became more clear after ~ 2 hours. Still, much faster than
the 3 weeks it took to send off for lab results.
Results below: Ferry Morse test kit vs Colo State Professional
Labs
pH = 7.8 vs 7.1
N = Very Low vs Low (this was accurate)
Phosphorous = Very Low vs High
Potash = Very Low vs High
I was about to buy some product to lower pH and raise all levels of
fertilizer by huge amounts. But this would have done more damage
than good. Glad I waited for the professional results.

(More customer reviews)I have been using
this oven for several months.I'm a serious amateur baker and I use
it quite often for baking breads and pastries. It has its strong
points. It is quiet, holds its heat well and bakes evenly,
especially in Convection mode. It seems well built and the controls
are not overly complex. The hidden lower element makes cleaning the
floor of the oven a snap. But it does suffer from some serious
problems--design flaws--in my opinion.A relatively minor complaint
is that when broiling, the oven cuts off power to the elements
whenever the door is opened.I often use the broiler for browning
the tops of casseroles, pastries etc. and I like to be able to
observe the browning process directly, not through the oven
glass. But as soon as the door is opened, the power to the elements
is cut and they cool down. It's an unnecessary, CYA sort of safey
feature.
My major complaint though is with the temperature regulating system
on this oven. Most reasonable people would assume that when you set
the oven to a given temperature, and when the oven beeps,
indicating that it has preheated to the set temperature, it has in
fact reached that temperature. With this oven that assumption would
be a serious mistake. For example, if the oven is set to 350

(More customer reviews)I bought this item
twice. Once for a friend who recently graduated from a meteorology
program, and the second time for a father's day gift. My weatherman
friend likes it a lot because it almost does his job for him. It
shows outdoor temperature, barometric pressure, indoor temperature,
time, and predicts the quality of the weather by measuring all
those things. My friend enjoyed it so much that I got one for my
dad with two extra sensors. He now uses it at his lake house in
Maine. The three sensors were placed down near the lake, in the
woods, and right outside the house. Each of these sensors took
about 10 minutes to set up, but it works wonderfully. The station
predicted sun, and we had sun. It predicted rain, we went fishing
and got lots of fish, and it rained. This is a really great station
and works very well and has kept two people very happy.
