(More customer reviews)I got these boots primarily for work and I've been very happy with them.They were comfortable from the first time I put them on, and they've been very comfortable walking briskly over moderate distances.I hope to try them out for some long distance trail hiking soon.The product description isn't very clear on this, but these do have an ASTM-rated safety toe.These boots are cut quite a bit smaller than my other work boots (Wolverine).They also have a 1.5" high sole, which feels like a large lift compared to regular shoes.It also means there is a little less ankle support than a similarly tall boot with a thinner sole.

The only worry I have is with the plastic "quick-laces".The opening is smaller than a metal quick lace, which makes them slower to lace, and I wonder if they'll last as long as a metal one would have.But I can attest to these being all non-metal; I got through metal detectors in them every day at work.

Oh, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on these boots since buying them.

8" "Forced Entry" Side Zip Tactical Boot Review

(More customer reviews)These boots are excellent for their price. They do everything they say that they do. The side zip is very convenient and makes putting them on or off a breeze. However, they have one downside- they can let water leak inside the shoe. I took these shoes for motorcycling in the Himalayas and they stood the test. We had to go through many water crossings- they stayed dry only initially but often water would seep from the top. I took them because the description said that it had a waterpoof lining but it worked only in light rains. These were xcellent for long treks too and had really good grip.
After two weeks of putting it in water, sun and rains, a bit of seams where the sole meets the top hascome off but not in a big way. I feel that having holes rather than the eyelets would have been better and faster to lace up. The quality of laces could have more waterproof/nylon materials for durability. A bit of stitching has come off around the nylon-leather meeting point- nothing major though. I should have followed instructions and ordered a half size smaller but it fit me well once I put an extra orthopedic insole in each shoe.
For this price these are good combat boots- waterproof capabilities should be enhanced further- maybe have a gusseted tongue at the zipper too? I took a street-bike and it handled vibrations, rocks and tarmac equally well. It has all day comfort and with slight improvements, it can be a very good boot.

I bought the leather brown ones and the leather is pretty sensitive to scratches and such but that comes with the territory with buying that type of material.Overall it is very true to it's size and width, and my calf is small but there is probably quite a bit of room even for a larger size, due to the stretchy fabric in the back.I would recommend these to anyone!
