(More customer reviews)The job I did was
for a ceramic tile shower with 1/8" grout lines. I wanted to
completely re-grout the stall. This tool was only useful after I
used a dremel tool (1/16" bit, which also burns up too quick) to
route out the lines. The diamond shaped bit easily "pushes" the
remaining edge grout right off. Don't think you can use it to
remove to a decent depth without small chipping of the tile edges.
Also Horizontal lines are harder to do with the knife edged blade.
You have to pull it across the line. What happened to me was I hit
a pocket in the grout line which caught the blade and chipped a big
piece off. Now that tile needs to be replaced. Luckily I have an
extra from the previous homeowner. I would imagine the "lathe"
style triangle bit would perform the same in a 1/4" line. In a
perfect world, it might work fine. But then again... Definitely not
a tool for pro's. Here's my advice: Hire a pro with a Fein tool,
rent one, or re-tile. Re-grouting is a dusty, sucky and time
consuming job.

(More customer reviews)I have 1" square
porcelain (ceramic) tile, about 1/4" thick, on my bathroom wall
that I was having problems drilling.I'm guessing it has a Porcelain
Enamel Institute (PEI) rating of class V (class 5) and would rate
at least a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, since I couldn't scratch
it with a normal high speed steel drill bit.I tried masonry bits, a
Sears Craftsman Glass and Tile Bit (with a carbide tip shaped like
an arrowhead), and the similar Black & Decker Glass & Tile
Drill Bit, 5/16", but after a half hour was able to penetrate a
single tile to a depth of only about 1/8".
So I bought this ingenious bit, which is 2-3/16" in length. The 1"
chuck end is smooth and round (which can slip if not seated tightly
enough). It's 3/8" in diameter, so check that your drill can accept
this size. The 1-3/16" length working end consists of a hollow
cylindrical barrel tube. The far end of the barrel has diamond
powder sintered onto its edge; the next 3/8" of the barrel has
reverse flute threads on the outside; and the near end of the
barrel has a 5/8" long slot on the side for "core removal
ejection."
The back and the front of the package have two important
notes.First, the package states "only for use in cordless
drills."Although I used a cordless drill, you could probably use a
grounded or double insulated corded drill that can rotate at low
speeds. Second, "for best results the drill bit requires water
lubrication."Hitachi offers a Drill Guide and Water Cooling System
that I didn't buy; I simply dipped the tip in a cup of water every
10-15 seconds.Per the manufacturer's Web site, water on the outside
allows "the reverse flute threads... [to] continuously supply water
to the cutting edge, cooling the bit tip, and extending its
life."
You start by placing the drill head at an angle to the wall to
create a crescent-shaped sort of "pilot hole" in the tile, then you
gradually tilt the drill bit perpendicular to the wall to finish
the job.WOW!After I got the hang of it, it took me only four
minutes to drill through each tile.I'm not sure how many times the
bit can be used, but I notice only very light wear on the diamonds
after drilling six holes. This bit is worth every penny!
BTW, unlike the reviewer who complained that the Hitachi 729404
5/8-Inch Diamond Core Bit was actually 15mm instead of 5/8" (i.e.,
was almost a full millimeter less than 5/8"), this 8mm bit is only
0.063mm larger than 5/16".

(More customer reviews)---> Click on
the comments and you find a link to my web page where I show
digital pictures showing a real world example of mounting it to a
drill - I used nylon zip ties to strengthen it. <---
TIP: buy two, if one splits then ready my review! Also, look at the
pictures on my website that show how it is installed.Older packages
showed a picture back.
TIP2: Pictures on my website show you how it looks and works AND a
scan of the old packagethat featured a how-to picture!
Background: I bought this chuck key holder because I bought a
special "close quarters" 90 degree drill for working in tight
spaces like under a shelf on harbor frieght.I was worried about
loosing or misplacing the key which would make the drill
useless. The key was also a non-standard size making it hard to
replace.
Keyless chucks are great but traditional keyed chucks don't let the
drill bit slip in the chuck but the key can get lost. Thus the
universal key holder.
PROS: Works with most drills/keys -up to about 3/8" chuck, not 1/2"
unless the key shaft is thin enough.
CONS: It is very easy to split the rubber making it useless and
will likely need modifications to improve it.
In my comment on the first review you can see the picture scanned
from the original package and I wrote a step by step how to
install.Extra tools / parts:
1. Dremel Rotary tool or a drill, common black rubber fuel hose,
hose clamps, extra thin/small nylon wire zip ties, electrical tape.
Overview
Some drills use non-standard chuck-keys. There are two common
styles of drill keys: L and Tee shaped. I have a T shaped key. If
your chuck key handle is more than 3/16" thick the two small holes
in the rubber chuck key holder must be enlarged with a Dremel
(rotary tool) or a drill bit to prevent spliting. Directions1. Take
Drill power cord and wrap the holder around the cord by Inserting
the end with a slit and two holes through the large hole (see pic's
001 & 002).
2. Insert one end of the Tee into a hole and slide towards the
center and then insert the other end into the remaining hole. For L
style keys insert the handle through both holes.
3. Option1: slide the key so it's about a 16 inches from the drill
handle and tighten the loop around the cord without over
tightening. To prevent the key from sliding down the cord, wrap the
cord with: electrical tape or a piece of black rubber fuel line
hose and a very small hose clamp (don't over tighten & cover
sharp edges with electrical tape)or a nylon zip tie.
4. Option2: reinforce the rubber key holder with nylon zip ties.
For the L style key use a piece of fuel hose attached with a nylon
zip tie. For extra strength, I drilled two holes and added a zip
ties (see pictures 001 & 004). TIPS

(More customer reviews)I needed a
miniature drill press to drill the barrels on a 1/350 scale ship
model. The Proxxon looks great but at $200+, it was out of the
budget.
Then I searched Amazon and what did I find- a perfectly workable
drill press for less than $100.
In short, it works as advertised. The slots in the base for a vise
are kind of rough, no dovetail for a machinist wise. But the speed
control works well, the plunging mechanism is smooth and wobble
free.I'm glad I got it.

(More customer reviews)The D-Vise has
become one of the more useful pieces of equipment in myDremel
arsenal. Sometimes you need both hands to work the tool, and
youneed something to secure your crafting piece. Although I feel
that justabout any good vise would do an adequate job holding my
work pieces, theD-Vise does have a few advantages to it that most
bench vises lack: it'srelatively small, and it can swivel to just
about any desirable angle andelevation.
One drawback is that, despite it's relatively small size, theD-Vise
wasn't made to be portable. When I'm doing Dremel tool craft work
atvarious locations, that can be a hindrance. I'vegotten around
this bysecurely mounting it to a wide, sturdy two-by-four, and when
I need it, Isecurely vise-grip it to a temporary workbench.
`Late!

(More customer reviews)Good for a few
holes if you are very careful and slow. The thin wall of the bit
means it's easy to bend the shaft and the tip wears quickly.
The Hitachi bits are much better and not much more if you search
for a good price. Instead of the plastic drill guide with the
Plasplugs kit, you can easily make one with a small piece of
plywood. A spray water bottle keeps the bit cool.

(More customer reviews)Like many others I
purchased the Porter Cable profile sander on the reputation of the
company. I owned it about two hours before I returned it.
The tool is powerful enough though rather bulky. The problems with
the sander stem from the poorly designed profile material and the
pressure sensitive adhesive used to hold the paper to the
profile.
The profiles are made of the same rubber your mother hated for
putting black marks all over her kitchen floor.
At least she could remove the marks. Ever try to get a rubber mark
off bare wood in a tight place?
With profile sanding it is a given that the sandpaper is going to
be fit to a small contour or a point and therefore will wear out or
clog very quickly.
With this sander quickly literally means seconds!
It is an enormous waste of time and sandpaper to change paper after
every 30 seconds of use.
Machines should be time savers, not trouble makers.
Dremel makes a profile sander that is much easier to use. The
profiles do not make black marks as the paper does not wear out so
quickly. The paper is industrial quality cloth backed which helps
greatly.
The paper is in the form of a hollow sleeve attached only by the
form of the profile.
You simply pop the profile off the machine ,roll the sleeve a
little and pop it back on. Ah fresh paper cuts so well!
Like the other reviewers I own other Porter-Cable machines which I
like very much. PC circular saw,the router/plunge router combo,4" x
24" belt sander and a biscuit joiner.
Please save yourself the trouble and frustration of the Porter
Cable profile sander.
If someone gives you one as a gift, smile, thank them, and as soon as
you can sell it!
