(More customer reviews)We bought the
Deluxe Hip Hammock when they first came out. I chose the deluxe
over the regular hip hammock because I liked the fabric much
better. The regular has fleece fabric which I do not like. The
deluxe is less fuzzy. The deluxe also comes with a cell phone
pocket and a washing bag, but I don't really use those much. If you
like fleece or live somewhere that doesn't get too hot, then you
could save a considerable amount of money by getting the regular
version.
The first one that we had was part of the recall. I contacted
Playtex by e-mail and they sent me a bag to return it and then they
sent me a new Deluxe Hip Hammock. The whole process only took a
couple of weeks.
The Hip Hammock has worked pretty well for us. My son is very
active and will not sit in shopping carts or strollers. So I needed
a way to carry him while I am shopping and still be able to push a
cart. When we bought it he weighed around 20 pounds and we could
carry him for quite a while. We carried him all over Disney World
in it when he was 16 months old. However, now that he weighs more
than 25 pounds the amount of time that I can comfortably carry him
has gotten considerably shorter. Even though the carrier may put
some of the weight on your waist there is still some pressure on
your shoulder. It does not put the weight on your hip in the same
way that just carrying a baby on your hip does. Pulling the strap
tighter puts more of the weight on your hips, but if you pull it
too tight the shoulder strap rests on your neck which gets really
uncomfortable really quick. So, I have learned to make sure that
the strap is loose enough to stay on my shoulder. (Not too loose
though). The strap has a generous pad, but I think that it would be
improved by making the strap wider, perhaps enough to cup the
shoulder. Also, the pad has a tendency to twist around the wrong
way.
It is really easy to put on and take off. It takes less than a
minute and I have no problem doing it by myself. Make sure you read
the safety information. When not in use it rolls into a little
bundle with the help of the button and loop. It is small enough to
fit in a large diaper bag. I have always used small diaper bags, so
I usually used the key clip to clip it to something.
Overall it has proved really useful and I think worth the money. I
am looking forward to getting even more use out of it with my next
child. Just don't expect it to make your child weightless. It does
still put some strain on your shoulder. And don't expect it to be
usefull all the way to 35 pounds.

(More customer reviews)We started with the
tub to seat bath complete universal bath system by first years, but
it was way too small for our baby and he slid around in it so much
that we switched to bathing him in the sink while we supported
him. When he outgrew the sink, we needed an alternative, so we
bought this bather. It's a lot like his bouncy seat, which he loves
and is very comfortable in.This is much easier than supporting all
of his weight with one arm and bathing him with the other while he
squirms around.I didn't give it 5 stars because I think it's
lacking 2 things that would make it perfect. One is a strap like in
the bouncy to keep him from sliding down, though he doesn't slide
too bad (not like in the tub), the other is that it needs suction
cups on the bottom to hold it in place in the tub better.

(More customer reviews)When our daughter
was born we were given a sling as a gift, bought an Ergo, and were
later handed-down a BabyBjorn. While each has its virtues, if you
are deciding which to buy - get the Ergo.
ERGO:
*Is the most comfortable of the 3, like a good backpack
distributing the baby's weight down to your hips
*It is also the most versatile, allowing you to use the carrier as
the baby moves into the todler stage
*It is hard to get on and it took us a week until we realized that
the back clasp needed to be moved up the arm straps. Be sure to
watch the video or ask a friend who has one for instruction
*Don't waste your money on the infant insert, just use a blanket or
towel
SLING:
*Is perfect for the baby's first 2 months - when she weighs less
than 12 lbs and sleeps frequently and irregularly
*The simple design allows you to easily put the baby down to sleep
when you get home or transfer her to the other parent's shoulder
without waking the baby
*Once she is a bit larger the sling will put too much stress on
your shoulder and back
BABYBJORN:
*Once your baby has good head control and she can ride "face out" -
she has the most fun and can interact with the world
*You can also put her face in when she's tired or
overstimulated
*It is easy to put her in/out by yourself
*Your back will start to hurt when your baby is about 15 lbs (or at
least ours did)

(More customer reviews)We started out with
a Baby Bjorn after my son was born that a relative gave us. It was
fine for the first few months but, once he hit 17 lbs the shoulder
pain was just out of control. We did a bunch of research online and
found lots of positive reviews for the Ellaroo Mei Hip. I ordered
it and have truly never looked back. It is so incredibly
comfortable, even now when he is far heavier. (He is nearly a year
old now.) All of the weight is down on my hip and I regularly walk
the 3 mile path around the lake by my house with him on my hip with
very little effort and no pain. It also packs so small & light
that it is really easy to keep in the diaper bag and pull out
whenever we get somewhere in the car. A great product!

(More customer reviews)I am shocked to see
all the negative reviews of this product!Sadly, it seems like the
bad reviews were written by people who didn't even own the
carrier.Come on...who in their right mind is carrying their car
seats around any longer than they have to?Of course it's best to
hold your baby instead of sticking it in a carrier all day, BUT
EVEN IF YOU ONLY USED THIS PRODUCT TO GET YOUR BABY FROM THE HOUSE
TO THE CAR, IT WOULD BE WORTH EVERY PENNY.It reduces the strain on
my back by distributing the weight between the arms and
shoulders.I'm buying extras for baby shower gifts.

(More customer reviews)I really like this
carrier.I checked out the others but I just couldn't justify the
price. This one is very comfortable and easy to get the baby in and
out of (after the first few times).I've worn it for extended
periods of time and on long walks and it has never hurt my back or
shoulders. It fits both my husband and me and is very easy to adjust
the fit quickly. My son loves it!He is much happier in this than the
car seat or stroller andsometimes falls right to sleep.I even take
him grocery shopping in it.A complaint I have is that the straps
that adjust the height of the seat tend to slip so my son very
slowly gets lower and lower. All in all, this is an OK carrier for
the price.
Revised several months later: This carrier actually ending up
breaking - though I did use it a lot.We got a used Baby Bjorn from
my brother-in-law and it is fantastic.Much more comfortable.

(More customer reviews)My wife and I
recently purchased this diaper bag for use with our newborn. We both
like this bag quite a bit when you consider our divergent
perspectives - this is our first child; I've not spent a lot of
time around small kids, but my wife was a nanny for infants and
toddlers for over ten years. She says it's the best diaper bag she's
used, period.
The bag makes efficient use of space along the sling, making it
seem roomy.I think the picture used for the product description
makes it hard to get a good idea of the scale size of the bag - it
looked small to me in the pictures, but it is not (it's not
humongous either). There's plenty of room for wipes, diapers, butt
paste, change of clothes, etc. and some personal items for the
carrier. However, you are not going to get a lot of extra room in
here for items that some women bring along in their purses. On the
other hand, for women who typically travel light (as my wife does),
or for most guys, there is ample room for your stuff in addition to
the kiddo's.
The sling itself is well balanced and this method of carrying is an
excellent alternative to other diaper bag styles (we've looked at
all of them, believe me) because both of your hands are free and
you don't have to struggle to keep it on your shoulder while you
are trying to wrangle a child, stroller, etc.Stylistically, it's a
nice looking bag - a little out of the ordinary. You certainly won't
look like you are carrying a purse or something froo-froo (if
that's an issue). The bag appears to be well constructed, with seams
between the compartments sewn rather than glued. There is a plastic
quick release buckle on the strap, which makes for easy attachment
to strollers, etc.The buckle appears reasonably durable and simple
enough to replace should it not be.
The bag (and it's variously-colored Logic ilk) is the 2007
successor to the JJ Cole Essentials Sling Style Backpack Diaper
Bag.The Logic bag is five dollars more (at the time of this
writing), but includes a small changing pad.reviews from the
Essentials line had indicated a problem with the separation of
compartments, but it appears that JJ Cole now stitches those seams
and has thus improved the construction of the bag over last year's
model (and perhaps in other areas as well).Having handled or owned
the Essentials version, I cannot say what the other differences may
be, but I greatly appreciate and respect attention to detail and
the effort to improve a good product.

(More customer reviews)I got this in
geobot (black/white)- which is great because that's pretty much my
wardrobe these days anyway (with a six month old, I can't really
care if my tops and bottoms match.)
I love it! Though I still love the bumblebags (which I have in baby
blue,) this black/white bag is just so darned stylish and compact
with so many compartments. The blue interior is a nice little
contrast, the bag comes with a changing pad and a wipes box
(standard issue for fleurville.)
The ONLY -1 star aspect is that, even at this price, the shoulder
strap is an extra $20. SERIOUSLY?? That just rings "we're being
super cheap and going to nickel and dime you for these
accessories". Come now, they throw in the stroller straps but not a
shoulder strap, which I would likely use more often? Odd.
PVC and phthalate free (though still made in China)- and even
though it's plastic you don't smell fumes or anything scary coming
from the bag. This bag packs a LOT for its size. Don't be fooled!
The 2 side pockets are SO key. Cellphone, keys, camera, all fit
easily into those 2 outer pockets!

(More customer reviews)I've been looking
for child carriers that appeared suitable for true in-the-woods
hiking and which could carry supplies as well as a toddler.I'm
using this pack to carry a 20lb 15 month old in Arizona and I'm
impressed so far. There are multiple adjustments for different torso
sizes that allows you to make sure you're carrying most of the
weight on your hips. The padding is substantial and similar to what
you'd see on a higher end internal frame backpack. You don't
experience any pressure points if you've adjusted it correctly.
Your passenger has multiple seating adjustments so you can position
her high or low depending on size and to make sure her arms are
free. The shoulder straps and leg straps are also very adjustable
and easy to access. The kickstand pops out automatically which is
very nice and has a pinch resistant rubber hinge insert to keep
fingers out of the way. They did a great job in trying to cram as
much storage into the pack as possible without throwing off your
center of balance. There is storage under the seat suitable for
lunch, water, and a first aid kit. And storage in the form of a
small daypack that zips behind the seat. This is big enough for kid
supplies, diapers, lunch, change of clothes. You could use this for
a long day hike but there is no way you'd consider trying to carry
anything more, i.e. a sleeping bag. The rain/sunhood is also a
requirement in my opinion for Arizona and is easy to attach. My
daughter hasn't squirmed or complained in it yet and actually tries
to climb in it when she sees it in the living room.Pre-kid I've
done a lot of backpacking with a variety of frame styles and now
I've carried my daughter with slings, wraps, baby bjorn's and on my
shoulders. In my opinion this carrier is very well designed by
somebody who has done a lot of both.

(More customer reviews)I bought a baby
bjorn for my husband while I was still pregnant with our first
child, thinking that it would be cute to see him walking around
with a little baby in front.Well, that never worked out since he's
a tall and big guy and the bjorn, even adjusted to the largest
size, just didn't feel right and my husband just never warmed to
the idea of carrying around the baby like a kangaroo.I ended up
using the bjorn exclusively and loved it.
This backpack, to my surprise, was requested by my husband when our
daughter was 7 months old.He was on an airplane when he saw another
father carrying his baby "in a backpack, but it looked like the
baby was carrying the backpack."That's how we came to this Kelty
backpack.
We love it.Our daughter is all smiles and laughter when he buckles
her in and puts it on, I think because she loves the high perch. She
probably feels like a big girl, being able to look down at everyone
and everything. My husband likes the backpack because it's
comfortable and, I guess, seems manly.
It did take a lot of adjusting to get our daughter strapped in
correctly; lots of putting her in and taking her out to get it just
right, but it was worth it.My husband did read through the
instructions in order to understand all the functions and make sure
he was using them correctly (and he doesn't usually do that).
Our daughter is now 9 months old and 20 lbs and 30 inches long. She
fits in it well and I think we will be able to use it with her for
awhile longer. The backpack itself seems sturdy and is roomy. The
sunshade comes in really handy and is easy to put on.We've not
taken it in her for long hikes yet, only walks around the parks and
mall (after all, we live in the desert now) but are looking forward
to using it back home in the Pacific Northwest.

(More customer reviews)First the
positive...
I've never backpacked before; but I do carry my 9mos old daughter
everywhere I go. The standard back and chest carriers that rest on
the shoulders just hurt too much. This framed carrier is great and
very comfortable. The back padding to excellent and waist belt can
pulled extremely tight and also very comfortable with plenty of
padding. I've hiked several trips now carrying my 20lb daughter,
camera, 1/2gal water, and snacks (sum = ~30lbs) for appox. 1-2hrs
at a time. The pack/carrier stayed in place and secure the entire
time. The frame does a good job transferring all that weight to the
hips.
The kickstand is great to temporarily relieve the weight. My baby
can sleep comfortably while we hike for hours without straining her
neck. The under seat space is more than plenty for mom, dad and the
babies supplies for a day hike. Very light weight carrier.
Then the criticism...
The buckles are too difficult to tighten and too easy to loosen.
But they stay where they put during a trip.
The under seat storage compartment has a partition that is
annoying, it just makes it easier to lose small cell phones etc
behind the partition flap.

holds up to 50lbs, we'll be able to use it for months to come.

About Kelty
In 1952, Dick Kelty started making backpacks out of his garage for
his grateful friends. As he welded aluminum tubes into frames, his
wife Nena sewed, cut, and fitted the pack bags. These packs
revolutionized backpacking, implementing Kelty's ideas of a hipbelt
and lighter aluminum frames. Soon, Kelty and his friends were
easily able to extend their wilderness adventures. Today, Kelty's
commitment to the outdoors is strong than ever. Including
award-winning backpacks and child carriers, strong tents, and cozy
sleeping bags, Kelty's equipment adds comfort to your outdoor
adventure.
Based in Boulder, Colorado, the company uses the natural backdrop
of the Rocky Mountains to test, create, and continually innovate
within their diverse outdoor product families of Apex, Backcountry,
Trail, Basecamp and KIDS gear. Kelty combines the best in new
technology with a healthy dose of common sense to create
exceptionally made, affordably priced outdoor products.

(More customer reviews)I love the Hawaiian
print on this ERGO carrier! It is so much more interesting than the
solid colors they usually provide. The ERGO has been a lifesaver for
getting the baby in and out of the house, and for taking him...
everywhere!I've carried my 20+ lb. baby for 2 hours at a time in
the front carrying position with no back issues.I occasionally put
him on my back and it is even more comfortable that way.It is a
little harder to get him in and out of the back position compared
to the front so I still use the front position more.I use it even
if traveling 20 ft. from the front door to the car. It's so easy to
strap him in since then I have both arms free to grab the diaper
bag, lock the door, unlock the car, etc. and then pop him out of
the carrier and into the carseat.I leave the waist strap on while I
drive and then when I reach my destination, I can strap him back in
and head out without any worries. He loves riding in the ERGO and he
is a very high-energy baby!It took one or two times to get used to
it for him, but since then he rides for over an hour without any
fussing. And it's so much easier to get around than pushing a
stroller. The lumbar/waist support is key and NEVER buy a baby
carrier without that waist strap...it would kill your shoulders if
all the weight of the baby was on those two shoulder straps.
I used a Moby carrier when my son was only a little newborn and
then switched to the ERGO when he got bigger.I highly recommend
this combination.Although the ERGO has an "infant insert" that you
can buy, I am not fond of it.

Ergo Carrier Hawaiian
Product Description:
The ERGO Baby Carrier's ergonomic design supports a correct sitting
position for the baby's hip, pelvis and spine growth. It disperses
most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs. The ERGO
also balances the baby's weight to parents' hips and shoulders, and
alleviates physical stress for the parent. In infancy, The ERGO
with the Infant Insert (sold separately), supports your newborn
like a baby sling while having both hands free to work. It can be
worn on the front, back or hip position. Features: Recommended use
from newborn (with additional Infant Insert sold separately) up to
40 lbs Can be worn on front, back or hip and easily shifted from
one to the other. Comes with detailed, illustrated instructions.
Adjusts for most sizes, waist circumference extends from 25 up to
43. Attached Sleeping Hood supports sleeping baby's head and
expands with the growth of your child. Padded waist belt supports
the lumbar area plus 1 thick padding in the shoulder straps.
Provides continued support when a baby sling or other front
carriers are no longer comfortable. Allows for freedom of movement
because the parent and baby are like one. Convenient pocket on back
of carrier with side zipper for easy access. 100% cotton canvas
outside and 100% cotton poplin lining and hood. More secure than a
hard-frame for baby hiking and walking.
