(More customer reviews)I received a pair
of these as a gift about 18 years ago, and they are fabulous. I
finally had to replace them this year because the cord near the
jack was having issues and I could only hear one ear. The headset
is in excellent shape and should work fine once I replace the jack
end of the cord. The new one has a flexible, rubber covering over
the area where the cord connects to the jack, so it should not
develop the same problem. Here is what I like about them.
COMFORT. The earpieces are padded and sit on your head, not your
ears. I share an office so I wear them all day long, and I have
never had any problems with comfort (most regular headphones give
me a headache or earache after a while). Since they are
semi-closed, they breathe a little, so my ears do not get hot. The
headband is attached with elastic pieces so there is no adjusting -
just put them on and they fit. The cord comes out of the left
earpiece, so there is no annoying "Y" under your chin.
SOUND LEAKAGE. My office mate cannot hear my music at all (although
I don't listen to music loudly). It blocks enough external noise to
help me concentrate, but I can still hear what's going on around me
and carry on a conversation while wearing them. (They may leak more
sound if you have a heavy beard or sideburns.)
SOUND QUALITY. The quality is amazing. I have read that it is very
hard to get good quality sound with closed headphones, so the
semi-closed are a good balance between quality sound and preventing
sound leakage. I listen to them plugged into my computer speakers,
and sometimes I have to skip a song because the non-music noises
are so clear (lip smacking, breathing, guitar string squeaks,
chimes, etc.).
SUMMARY: Extremely comfortable, quality construction and quality
sound

(More customer reviews)The D-EJ611
portable CD player is one of the most satisfying products I have
ever purchased from Sony. I use portables on a daily basis in the
gym, when riding bicycle (safety aside) and at home while
cleaning.
The Sony is virtually skip-free (even on the stairmaster!) because
it has a digitally based system that has 10 times faster shock
recovery than conventional systems. It also does not eat up
batteries - unlike some portables I have owned.
Another outstanding feature is its ability to read "home made" CDs
like MP3 to WAV conversions. The sound quality is good and the unit
offers nine playback modes with repeat of tracks or disc, shuffle,
64-track random programming, and resume play. Unbelievable for such
a small package.
I have even come to appreciate the automatic volume limiter system
which maintains volume output at levels below distortion (though I
would prefer to let distortion be my choice - not Sonys)
Finally, the player comes with an AC adapter, stereo headphones, a
hand strap and a line out feature for connection to a receiver or
pre-amp. It really is a quality unit for the money and offers a lot
of unexpected features. Kudos to Sony.

(More customer reviews)This Sony portable
cassette tape player is well designed and ruggedly constructed.
Unfortunately, its sound quality leaves a great deal to be desired.
First of all, I was unhappy with the headphones which delivered a
somewhat thin and 'tinny' reproduction of the music I sampled over
the three weeks I tested this walkman (which I finally returned for
credit). Also, at relatively low volumes I was surprised to
encounter unacceptable levels of distortion during playback. I
recently purchased a Sony Psych CD Walkman model D-EJ360 which, by
comparison, is so far superior in its sound quality to the Sony
WM-FS222 S2 Sports Cassette Walkman under review that it became
literally impossible for me to listen to the tape player without
feeling irritated and aggrieved (thus the necessity to return it!).
Two other disappointing features of this S2 product bear
mentioning. The included "belt clip" is NOT a rigid plastic fixture
of the player case itself but rather an addition to the flexible
strap used for holding the walkman by hand. It therefore does not
provide a secure attachment for vigorous walking or running. And
there is no auto-reverse functionality. Which seems a significant
lack given the price of the item. Finally, having submitted a
meticulously documented rebate claim for a Sony t-shirt upon
receiving this walkman, I was notified that I was ineligible for my
gift as I had failed to provide the requisite UPC code and sales
receipt. A sad ending to a thoroughly frustrating experience with a
company I have come to expect so much more from.

Sony WM-FS222 S2 Sports Walkman Stereo Cassette
Player with FM/AM/TV and Weather Radio
Product Description:
CDs are wonderful, but most people still have boxes of cassettes
full of great music, much of it not out--or not owned--on CD.
Sony's WM-FS222 S2 Sports Walkman stereo cassette player lets you
relive your cassette music when on the go. Its rugged, ergonomic S2
Sports design includes durability, controls placed for easy access,
high style, and drift-free, digitally synthesized FM stereo--as
well as wideband AM, TV (channels 2 to 13), and weather band
(channels 1 to 7) reception.
An action grip with reflective cushion provides comfort and safety,
while an included belt clip lets you wear the Walkman, freeing
hands for other activities. The player's water-resistant seals help
keep out water, moisture, and dirt, and a battery-level indicator
on the unit's LCD lets you know when you're running low.
The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an
even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and
evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level.
Mega Bass produces deep, rich bass tones. Finally, an anti-rolling
mechanism maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting
"wow and flutter" while the player is in motion.
For the radio, 40-station preset tuning offers one-button tuning to
your choice of seven TV stations, four weather-band stations, 24 FM
stations, and five AM stations. An FM local/distant (DX) switch
improves reception of fuzzy stations. A single AA battery provides
up to 32 hours (maximum) of continuous tape playback, or up to 50
hours of FM radio reception.

(More customer reviews)It works. The
volume doesn't have enough range for me, but it's OK.
This product is better suited for chldren: it's made of blue
plastic and is a little cheesey looking; it's a bit hard to handle;
it has no fastener for a belt so you'd better have huge pockets if
you're going anywhere with it and its function buttons are so small
and camoflaged most adults I know will have problems running
it.
Earphones are better than I thought they'd be and it does do its
job rather well, but kids/some teens will like this far more than
adults.

(More customer reviews)First, for those
who only read the first line, if you are not a patient person with
electronics and computers, then this unit is not for you.But if you
can navigate computers well, and can easily troubleshoot computers,
then this is a very good unit for you.
The price of this unit is dropping like hotcakes.I got this for
$100 bucks brand new from a chain store. Very good value.20gb of
storage, and easy to load and use, once you figure out all of the
fuctions. It transfers files fast, and you can create sub folders on
the root directory to get nice and orderly.the menu functions are
easy to navigate, and the settings are easy as well.large, well lit
display showing the names of the music clearly.Fast transfer as
well.I had no luck with windows media player playlists, but at
least the customer support was very good about responding to all my
questions.Windows media just would not "sync" with this unit, or
recognize it was there to make a playlist to.I did find that
musicmatch playlists work for this unit. You have to create a
playlist from files on the unit itself, then save it, then pull the
actual playlist file by drag and drop over to the unit into the
playlist folder, and boom it works. Overall, the value and
functionality of the unit outweight the time it took to learn how
to maximize the utillity from it.Good buy if you get it for the
price I did. This model will soon be obsolete, and is quickly being
discontinued soon due to new models coming out.

Radio
Product Description:
Versatility is the defining feature of the Coby MP-C941. Boasting a
robust 20 GB hard drive, the unit functions as both a portable
MP3/WMA player that lets you enjoy your favorite tunes away from
home and a USB-compatible storage drive for your pictures,
documents, and other files. The dual roles make the MP-C941 a great
fit for music fans and business travelers alike, as it's not only
fun to use and compact, but it's also plug-and-play ready, letting
you connect to any PC or Mac equipped with a speedy USB 2.0 port.
Whether you need a soundtrack for your cross-country plane trip or
a photo storage device to complement your digital camera's skimpy
memory card, the MP-C941 fills the role.
When used as an MP3 player, the device stores up to 5,000 songs,
with a backlit LCD screen that displays the song title, album, and
artist information. Listeners can also navigate to other titles or
artists using the small thumbstick in the center and the intuitive
interface. As an added bonus, the device includes a series of
preset digital equalizers (normal, classic, rock, jazz, and pop),
which customize the audio to meet your musical preferences. And
perhaps most conveniently, the MP-C941 is notably compact, so you
can easily store it in a jacket pocket or purse.
The device isn't restricted to MP3 and WMA playback, however. It
also includes a built-in FM tuner for listening to your favorite
commercial music or NPR stations, along with an integrated voice
recorder that's great for capturing voice memos, grocery lists,
interviews, song ideas, and more. Plus, the MP-C941 can encode MP3s

(More customer reviews)This headphone does
not conform well to the shape of my ear so they do very little to
block or reduce background noise. They are very uncomfortable to
wear for any length of time. The volume level is way too low,
requiring me to crank either of my MP3 players to near max to hear
audiobooks in a car or on a bus.
I do NOT recommend this headset. If you like ear-clip headphones,
stay with the ones you have."Upgrading" to these is not worth the
price as the performance and "Noise Cancelling" is worse than my
standard ear-clip headphone.

(More customer reviews)Even though I love
my Sony NW-HD3 20GB MP3 player, when I listen to my beloved
classical music collection, I still much prefer CDs, since when it
comes to sound quality, MP3 simply cannot match the original CD
recording. This Sony CD player is great for classical music (as well
as jazz and vocals, or anything that an audiophile loves). You can
feed the output to a high-end amplifier and get unbeatable sound.Or
use a good pair of headphones.
This CD/MP3 player is also great for books-on-CDs.Ripping CD
audiobooks is a pain and a tedious process. So it's simply easier to
listen to the CDs direcly, and this lightweight, stylish,
easy-to-use CD player is just PERFECT for that. And it runs for days
on a single AA battery.(Hint: get Panasonic's new Oxyride AA
batteries for double the life of even the best alkalines.)
I just love this portable CD player. If you are also an audiophile
or an audiobook lover, this is perfect for your needs.
The only minor gripe is the player doesn't support WMA, which would
have been even more fantastic for ripped audiobooks (better
quality, smaller files).MP3 still takes too much space at the usual
128kbps bitrate. If I were to rip, I'd want to rip into 48kbps WMA
and would still get great sound quality.(But I don't have the
patience to rip anyway...)
BTW, this player (and the black version) are actually cheaper on
Sony's consumer website, sonystyle dot com, where it sells for
$49.95.I should have checked there first.
UPDATE: I was happy to discover that the inline remote control that
comes with the D-NE320 also works on my Sony NW-HD3 20GB MP3
player.Awesome!

Sony D-NE320PSWHI Psyc MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman
(Electric White)
Product Description:
Combining a lightweight body, stylish good looks, and an impressive
array of technical features, this Sony Psyc CD Walkman is a great
fit for music fans of all stripes. The Walkman boasts an intriguing
dimpled cover encircled by a translucent greenish ring, giving it a
high-tech yet playful look that's quite unique among personal CD
players. The flashy appearance extends to the matching clip remote,
which lets listeners control the device with their thumb while
exercising, and the pair of stereo headphones. More significantly,
the device is far more than just a straightforward CD player, with
compatibility for MP3, ATRAC3, and ATRAC3PLUS formats when burned
onto a CD-R or CD-R disc. ATRAC3PLUS is a high-quality
audio-compression technology that reduces the size of digital audio
files while preserving much of a track's original sound quality
(similar in concept to MP3 or Dolby Digital sound formats). With
ATRAC3PLUS, music can be burned and compressed at 132, 105, 66, 64,
or even 48 kbps (kilobits per second), letting users select the
right balance between fidelity and storage space. The end result is
a huge increase in CD-R/RW capacity, as each disc can hold as many
as 490 ATRAC3PLUS songs when compressed to 48 kbps.
To assist listeners in managing the ATRAC3 and ATRAC3PLUS files,
Sony has included a copy of its SonicStage software with each Psyc
CD Walkman. The simple-to-use program helps you create your own
music compilations on CD-R/RW media using your computer's CD
burner. The software is also compatible with Sony's Connect Music
store, which offers an extensive online music library with a huge
catalog of songs available for quick and easy download. Once the
songs are burned to a disc, listeners can glean track, album, and
artist information from the Walkman's three-line LCD text display,
which comes with multi-language support for greater
versatility.
As with any good personal CD player, the Psyc CD Walkman offers
anti-skip protection in the form of Sony's Skip-Free G-Protection
technology, which helps the device quickly recover from both
horizontal and vertical shocks to improve the listening experience.
G-Protection is particularly valuable while jogging, skating, or
pursuing other outdoor activities. The Walkman's audio performance
stems from such features as its Digital Mega Bass Sound, which
produces rich, deep bass tones with extremely limited harmonic
distortion; Sony's Parametric Equalizer II, which gives listeners
extremely precise control over the tonal balance; and a
two-position Automatic Volume Limiter System, which consistently
maintains the volume output at levels below the distortion
threshold so that the sound is always clean and precise.
Additional features include a five-direction control key, which
gives you single-button control over five individual functions; 18
playback modes, including repeat, program, and random; and an
automatic shutoff feature that powers the player down when it's not
in use to conserve battery power. The Walkman runs for up to 41
hours on a single AA battery and comes with a one-year parts
warranty.
About Sony Connect Music Store and ATRAC3plus
Sony's Connect Music store offers one of the most extensive music
collections online. Customers can choose single tracks or entire
albums from independent and major-label artists for purchase and
download. Sony's proprietary ATRAC3plus is an advanced audio
compression and Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology offering
multiple bit rates that allows you to create music compilations
tailored to your listening preference. Songs downloaded and burned
onto CD-R/RW media using ATRAC3plus technology can be played on any
device that supports ATRAC3plus.

(More customer reviews)I wasn't bowled
over by MiniDiscs when they first appeared.I heard there were some
audible artifacts of the compression technology which kept these
pocket-sized marvels from being a true match for CDs.And the price
of theMD machines was more than I wanted to spend.Just the other
day, however,I managed to score a Sony MZ-R37 portable MD recorder
at an online auction, and I'm here to say -- jump in, everybody, the
format's fine! The truthis, I'm not about to replace my CDs or
cassettes or equipment. But I'm asemipro drummer who wanted to get
digital quality recordings of rehearsalsand jam sessions in a
pocket-sized unit.Well, all I can say is -- ifthere are any audible
deficiencies of the MD format, I can't hear them, andas a musician,
my ears are pretty good.Although I haven't made a liverecording of
my band yet, I have been making test recordings all weekend, dubbing
CDs of demanding acoustic music like the David Ware
Quartet.TheMZ-R37 makes and plays back superb recordings that I
cannot distinguishfrom the original CDs; this despite the fact that
I'm not using the digitaloptical hookup available (cord provided).I
hear no hiss, wow, or flutter,no glitches between selections, and
all instruments are present andaccounted for, and sound the way
they should. There are no problems withthe azimuth misalignments I
constantly encountered with cassettes. Recordings of electronic
music sound superb too; the Beatles' "ComeTogether" sounded
awesome!I did discover two things I have to get used towith the MD
format. The first is the necessity of using the "END SEARCH"button
if you have been listening to a recording before you
resumerecording; otherwise, songs get split in half and weird
sequencing eventsoccur. The second is to remember not to push PAUSE
before pushing STOP atthe end of a recording; every time you push
PAUSE on the MZ-R37, it adds atrack number.I'm so used to doing
that on a cassette deck so as not tointroduce a glitch onto the
tape between songs.I also discovered that youcan make a better
recording by overriding the automatic gain control andpumping up
the volume, so the peaks hit the top element in the display.Interms
of things I would change on this unit, I wish the buttons were
alittle bigger; my old fingers don't always have the easiest time
zeroing inon the button required for a certain function! And I wish
the MZ-R37 had aback-lit or electro-luminescent LCD panel you could
see in low-lightconditions.I predict I'll be pulling out my pocket
flashlight on morethan one occasion to check levels and disc run
status! And some sort ofcarrying case would have been a more welcome
inclusion with this packagefor me than the cheapo headphones or
optical cable included.Liverecordists will need a stereo microphone
too, one that draws power from themike input; for sound quality,
compactness, and affordable price, it's hardto beat Sony's PC-62 or
its successor, if there is one.And that prettymuch sums up the Sony
MZ-R37 MD Recorder itself too!

you drop it even once from belt-high -- and it is likely that you
will, because the belt clip breaks very easily -- it is
finished.
The plastic shell does not protect the mechanism from impact any
more than the shell of a [less expensive] model.I've now bought
three of these for use while lifting weights at the gym.Because
they break so quickly, I've returned all three under warranty, and
never heard ANYTHING from SONY.That's three walkmans, within the
past year.Three strikes, and it is out.
The design of the product is also poor: the headphone outlet is
positioned such that the wire plugs into the bottom of the
unit. That means that you lose about 4 inches from an already short
headphone cord.Any kind of stretching (such as when doing
pull-ups), and the headphones either unplug, or pull the unit off
your belt.And when it hits the ground . . . it's finished.Here's
another example of a design snafu: the nylon wrist strap is
positioned in such a way that it interferes with your use of the
belt clip. This configuration means that you must make a choice as
soon as you buy the unit: either commit to strapping the device to
your arm or wrist with the belt-clip bulge on your skin, or cut the
nylon strap off and wear it on your belt.Yet another example of
poor layout: the battery door opens counter-intuitively: unlike
other walkman-like devices I've used, you must push the clip toward
the direction of the door hinge. This wouldn't be a problem, except
that Sony chose to also put the battery compartment inside the
cassette player itself.Accordingly, removing the cassette often
results in opening the battery compartment (and dropping the
batteries).
The bottom line is this: if you buy this product expecting "sport"
to equate to "durable" (as I did), you are kidding yourself. If you
buy it for listening to music while safely cradled in a nest of
pillows, you're wasting your money: units half the price that do
not hold themselves out to be "sports" anything will deliver the
same sound quality.

about:
Sony WM-FS221 Sports Walkman Cassette Player
Product Description:
CDs are wonderful, but most people still have boxes of cassettes
full of great music, much of it not out--or not owned--on CD.
Sony's WM-FS221 Sports Walkman stereo cassette player lets you
relive your cassette music when on the go. Its rugged Sports design
is both stylish and durable, and the unit includes drift-free,
digitally synthesized FM stereo--as well as wideband AM, TV
(channels 2 to 13), and weather band (channels 1 to 7)
reception.
For the radio, 40-station preset tuning (with auto scan tuning)
offers one-button tuning to your choice of seven TV stations, four
weather-band stations, 24 FM stations, and five AM stations. An FM
local/distant (DX) switch improves reception of fuzzy stations. Two
AA batteries (not supplied) provide up to 32 hours (maximum) of
continuous tape playback, or up to 40 hours of FM radio
reception.
An action grip with reflective cushion provides comfort and safety,
while an included belt clip lets you wear the Walkman, freeing your
hands for other activities. The player's water-resistant seals help
keep out water, moisture, and dirt.
What's in the Box
Cassette Walkman, MDR-W014LP headphones, belt clip, user's manual,

(More customer reviews)This is the perfect
product for those of you looking for a portablerecordable audio
player but are shocked at the high prices and low memorysize of MP3
players. With the new USB to digital optical products out onthe
market, it has become very easy to digitally transfer your MP3's
tominidisc at a low-cost, without having to worry about a loss of
quality. The Sharp also has a great analog sound as well.
Although I havegraduated to the much higher cost Sony MD-90, this
was my first, and totell you the truth they perform almost as
well.
The final reason fofpurchasing this machine over an MP3 player is
that for the price of 1 SonyMagicGate 64MB Memory Card (holding an
hour of music), you can get 60Multi-recordable Minidiscs (holding
close to 70 hours of music)Need I saymore?

(More customer reviews)I was very
pleasantly surprised by the quality of this walkman. I tend to be
hard on this type of device -- going thru one every two years. I
got sick of paying $30+ for this type of product so I started
buying ultra cheap $10 brands. The sound quality was adequate for
my needs. I listen to mostly educational tapes while riding my bike
-- alternating with radio and sometimes music tapes. When I saw
that for $10 more I could own a Sony i decided to give it a try.
The extra $10 was worth it and I guess pays for the headphones.
They produce great quality sound. The unit is well thought out in
terms of design, switches etc. And I like the slimmer casing. I
long for casings of yesteryear that were much better quality but it
is on par with the models of today. I like the limit switch which
prevents you from jacking up the sound to levels that damage
hearing. It's easy to do with headphones. A word of warning to
young people out there -- do that enough and you will be hard of
hearing. I've experienced hearing loss from loud rock music and
playing electric guitar. The first station I happened to listen to
was classical and I could not believe how clear and full the sound
was. A keeper. I notice early users from prior years did not like
this model. They must have upgraded since then. (...)I was one of
the first users of the original Sony walkman's in the early 80s and
Sony continues a great tradition and I'm glad I decided to own one
again.

Sony WM-FX195 Walkman AM / FM Stereo Cassette Player
with Auto Shut-Off
Product Description:
Sony's slim-design WM-FX195 stereo cassette player is portable
enough--and, at under half a pound with batteries--light enough to
go anywhere you do. In addition to playing tapes, the Walkman
offers FM stereo and wideband AM radio reception. An anti-rolling
mechanism maintains low wow and flutter by steadying the tape when
you're running or walking, and an FM local/distant (DX) switch
improves reception of fuzzy stations.
The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an
even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and
evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level. A
switch adjusts the sound to accommodate metal-oxide tapes, and Mega
Bass produces deep, rich bass tones.
Automatic shut-off (in playback mode) extends battery life and
helps prevent both mechanical and tape wear by turning off unit at
the end of each tape side. Finally, an anti-rolling mechanism
maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting "wow and
flutter" while the player is in motion.
Supplied MDR-026 over-ear headphones offer wide dynamic range and
clear sound, and the unit also comes with a belt clip. Two AA
batteries provide up to 25 hours of continuous tape playback
(maximum, using Sony Alkaline batteries), or up to 55 hours of FM
radio reception. And in case you don't keep count of the hours, a
handy LED battery indicator warns you when it's time to switch.
What's in the Box
Cassette player, headphones, belt clip, and a user's manual.

(More customer reviews)If you are just
starting out and don't want to spend a fortune until you know what
you are doing, this is a great mic. It has a little difficulty with
the "P" sound but once you are aware of it you can work around
producing that sound. I also like the fact it has 2 plug-in
adapters (1/4 inch for my preamp and a smaller to connect directly
into the computer, you'll thank me later) which gives you
adaptability for different uses. All in all a great mic for the
price.
