(More customer reviews)As all the other
reviews say, this is very easy to set up and works great. No
software to install, just plug it in and you are good.
It does not work from a power strip though.
Here's the WARNING. Because you can't run these via powerstrip,
they are directly plugged into your wall and then your computer(s).
I happen to have my network on a wireless router, so the "in"
signal for the ZyXEL was coming from the router.
Well, there was a powersurge yesterday sometime and because there
was no power strip/surge protector to stop it - the serge went
through the Cat5 cable from the ZyXEL and DESTROYED my $200
router.
I'm looking into a Cat5 surge protector, but just wanted warn
everyone that this can happen. If not in use, I recommend
unplugging the cables from your computer(s) and router.
The system itself works great, but I had to take off the stars
because it cost my family an extra $200 to replace the router.

rave on and on about the product. I will just give you the stats. I
live in a rural area and have owned and APC 300 UPS for my 300Mhz
P-2 with a 17 inch monitor for 1 1/2 years and had 6 total power
outagesand at least 15 power surges. I did not even see the monitor
ficker! TheApc UPS kept my computer up and running so I could close
apps, & getoff the net before I shut down the computer like I
would normally. I alsohad lightning hit my transformer while on the
computer and the Apc Ups didnot skip a beat. I am still using the
same one today and I bought an ApcUPS 400 for my second
computer(AMD K6-2 450, 15 inch monitor). I highlyrecommend a UPS
for any computer. It is a small investment considering theover-all
cost of the computer and data. I know this is not about the
500model, but the only difference is that the 500 model will allow
you to stayon your computer a few minutes more before shutting down
than the ones Ilisted.

(More customer reviews)I'm not sure what
happened with flagday1960's APC UPS, but I have had mine for over 2
years and it has performed flawlessly. Whenever I've had an
electrical power outage, the APC's software notifies me that it has
reverted to battery power, and informs when commercial electrical
power has been restored.I can view the stats for my UPS - when and
how long the last "event" (battery power activation) occurred, and
the UPS current charge status. My 350R has only 6 outlets - 3
battery/surge and 3 surge, the current 350 model provides 8 outlets
- 4 of each. While I can replace the internal battery of my 350R
when it does die and is unrechargeable, I'll likely buy a new 350R
in the near future, primarily for the extra 2 outlets.

(More customer reviews)As a networking
"internals" guy, I was shocked to find that this product is
fundamentally broken at the network layer.
What people are complaining about here is that the device suddenly
stops working and must be unplugged and plugged back in again.
This is because the device is trying to be too smart, and is losing
track of which power-line modules connect to which
computers.Unfortunately, in doing so, it prevents the network-level
broadcast facilities from working. The broadcast facility I'm
talking about most (ARP, the address resolution protocol) would
have automatically corrected the problem if the Linksys box wasn't
so broken.
In essence, for all you tech guys and gals, is that a learning
bridge should never "learn" the broadcast address.
If you have only PCs, and you load the Linksys driver, they do some
magic to keep the devices from falling over dead...But if you mix
in a non-pc (Linux, UNIX, Macintosh) using a hub off the end of
your power-line device, you're guaranteed to be frustrated.
The symptoms are that some of the network works (whatever was
working before the bridge tables got corrupted) and others stop
working with no explanation. The box "selectively" forwards traffic,
and becomes deaf to other traffic.
It's like being at a cocktail party, and having every third person
not be able to hear you, and saying "Over here!" (as ARP does)
doesn't help either.
Ugh.In my experience, this is somewhat typical of Linksys
products...If you have a windows PC, you're fine.If you have
anything else, they won't talk to you.
I switched to the Siemens power-line module, and it has been
working just fine for me.

(More customer reviews)this is a great
ups, uninterruptable power supply. The installation is very simple,
and for the price this thing sure packs a punch with withstanding a
lightning shock! also the long run time.
Most computer systems will be able to fit in the 325/585VA rating
limits, mine did with an amd athlon 1.5ghz, 14 inch monitor, zip
drive, wireless lan, 400watt powersupply, and could fit more!3
battery backed up ports are surely enough for what u need, and u
can add a surge strip to the surge protected outlets if there arent
enough for all ur peripherals, as long as you stay below 10 amps
total, which would be very hard to go over!
i never have to worry about replacing my computer if this thing
fails , because of the [money amount] warrenty! of course my data
would be gone, but hey, at least they'll cover for all the
equipment.
During a power outage the ups automatically switches to battery, in
3milliseconds i believe, and the unit will beep an annoying beep,
when this happens.when battery begins to get low the beeping gets
faster, and the software that came with this should begin to
shutdown and save files when battery gets low, or if u'v specified
a time from when the battery kicks in to poweroff.
the cord that plugs into the wall for this thing is very special!
its flat, so dont worry about couches or something in front of it,
plus the cord shoots out from an angle out of the socket, so it
doesnt go straight down blocking a bottom socket if u have one.
this is a great buy and you wont regret the protection it provides
your system, you can even test it after the 4-8 hour charging
time!

(More customer reviews)First off, I bought
the 900AVR model, but it doesn't appear to be sold at Amazon at the
time of this writing, and this is the closest model I found.I
bought it over two years ago, and it's still going strong, having
kept my computer going through a power outage many times, and I've
had no problems related to power spikes and the like. When I'm not
there to gracefully close out Windows, the bundled software will
automatically put it through a shutdown sequence after a
configurable timeout. The software I have does have a bit of an
amateur presentation, but it works fine, and it very well may have
been updated in the past two years. When I bought it, it was with
some trepidation, as Cyber Power was not one of the major name
brands in the field, but I decided the significantly lower price
was worth the gamble, and I'm glad I took it.Of the four UPS's I've
owned, all different brands, I've had the best experience with this
one.

(More customer reviews)I am an audiophile
and have been enjoying hi-end audio for many years. I am always
trying new products to enhance my system. I was never a believer
that power conditioning could make a viable difference until I
upgraded a power cable. I noticed some added smoothness to the
presentation of the music- so when I read about the Soloist I
thought I would give it a try. Believe me when I say this was like
a major component upgrade. The soundstage opened up everything
became cleaner and more defined. The base has tightened up- I
notice more detail with more definition. Before I enjoyed the
music- now I find my foot tapping wile I am enjoying the music.
Granted I have not tried this against many other power conditioners
except for my Monster HTS2500 that I use in my home theater system.
The Soloist is in another league. If you are thinking about adding
good power conditioning for a very reasonable price it would be
worth your while to give this a try.

(More customer reviews)Uninterrupted Power
Supplies (UPS) are designed to provide temporary reprieve in the
event of an utility power failure, such as a blackout. They could
supply a few minutes of temporary power, usually barely enough to
shut down your equipments, should a power outage occur.
Those who have a good deal of experience using UPS's would know
that it is often not enough to guard against power outages; you
also need to check regularly if the UPS battery is GOING DEAD or
not. When a battery dies, it can no longer be recharged and
therefore cannot offer you protection.Several of the UPS's I have
ever used have gone dead, usually after a few years of use.If UPS's
are critical to you, consider getting service maintenance plan or
extended warranty from the manufacturer or seller, or even an
overnight replacement plan in case of emergencies. Also, consider
getting UPS's whose batteries are detachable and replaceable; then
stock a few spare batteries for it, so you could easily rectify
battery failures without much downtime. Some UPS's, such as APC
Back-UPS, even use "hot-swappable" batteries, meaning they can be
replaced while the UPS is still operating.
The battery of the Belkin F6H350 350-VA UPS went dead on me sooner
than those of any other UPS's I have used -- only 3 months after I
bought it.And its battery is not replaceable. It includes software
and serial cable that allows automatic shutdown of your computers;
but the software crashed twice on my Windows Me PC.The only
advantage of the Belkin UPS seems to be its 8 outlets (4 UPS/surge
protection, and 4 full-time surge-protection only), which is more
than most UPS's provide. But with its mere 350-VA battery power
capacity, you would probably exceed its supported power supply
before using up all of its outlets.
I am still using my 4-year-old, similarly-priced APC Back-UPS 300
UPS, without any of the above problems. Its battery is replaceable
and hot-swappable.I naturally recommend it over the Belkin F6H350
and the likes.

(More customer reviews)I spent many moths
reading up on LCD and Plasma HDTVs and visiting every local
showroom multiple times. Also reading all the posts on AVS for
every TV of interest. I had held of purchasing a TV because I felt
the 120Hz sets were likely to be the first ones I would consider
due to motion blur. Those came out and I started doing live
compares and reading the posts and reviews on various sites. It
became apparent that a) the non-120Hz sets are doing very well with
motion blur these days and b) 120Hz doesn't really help with motion
blur to any noticeable extent (but adds a lot to the price). I
argued with myself for a long time but decided even though 120Hz
felt like "insurance" on image quality there just wasn't evidence
to really support it. I looked at Sharp, Samsung etc. as well as
comparing the 52" W3000 and XBR4. I ultimately settled on the W3000
from a local store so I could return it if I was disappointed after
viewing it. I never once considered returning this thing as the
picture quality is phenominal (on HD and good quality SD feeds). No
clouding, no banding, no dead pixels, nor any of the other horror
stories you read about in reviews on every brand. As one review I
read some time ago said, the PQ on these sets is so high you can
find yourself glued to the set watching some show that is of
absolutely no interest to you but which has great HD imagery. I've
kept following AVS posts on the main brands I considered and on the
whole the W3000 maintains a strong positive set of feedback. I
recommend it without hesitation. I have my paired with a Toshiba
A20 for 1080/24p output and it is a great and troublefree
combination.

(More customer reviews)As usual I looked
everywhere for-and-at this unit, and when I found it on Amazon with
Free Shipping (this is a heavy unit) I had to go for it. My main
concern was: is this the unit with Ethernet protection? The specs
say "yes" but the Customer Image of the rear panel doesn't show it.
That pic is WRONG; the unit has RJ45 IN/OUT and the audio alarm
rocker on it--it's indeed the latest model.
The total package is large, & heavy at 42lbs so a concern is
always "howzit gonna survive shipping" and I was pleased to see it
was TRIPLE-BOXED! Actually, an outer box with airbags, then the
Belkin shipping box and finally the Retail packaging with the
plastic handle & pretty pictures. Still, when I got it apart
there were a few tiny scratches on the unit--a very heavy bag with
rackmount ears in it had gotten unstuck from the cardboard and was
flopping-around in the innermost box with the unit. But the pretty
faceplate is covered with a heavy plastic protector so no worries
there.
Like the other reviewer, I noticed the 60-cycle hum immediately
when I plugged it in--my home theater is very quiet when
everything's powered down. I don't expect the hum to be a problem
when the TV is on, and my Belkin is 12 feet away at the front of
the room in the TV stand, but I'm not sure I'd tolerate it very
well if I were only listening to music (but I don't ever do that so
it's not a concern for me) or if it were in my other equipment rack
that's right behind my viewing position.
The battery was completely drained, and it needed an overnighter to
charge-up to full capacity--testing reveals it hums quite a LOT
when on battery power, but again this is not a concern for me--I
don't want battery power to be able to keep watching; I want it to
be able to shut-down my Rear Projection TV so the fan will keep
running and cool the lamp first. I also wanted it for my DVR which
has a spinning hard drive that needs protection.
Overall I am very pleased, and note the WAF on this is excellent
(mine thought it was "pretty"!). A good deal indeed!

Up to 40 minutes of battery backup power
Eight surge protected outlets
5,500 Joules of surge protection

fluctuations that may cause irreparable harm. The Belkin PureAV
Home Theater Battery Backup with AVR Technology maintains constant
power delivery to your components to ensure that the memory,
settings, and recordings on all your equipment will be saved in the
event of a blackout, brownout, or other voltage fluctuation.
Uninterrupted Stable Power, Higher Performance
As a defense against power outages, the PureAV Battery Backup
provides uninterrupted backup power to DVRs, Media Center PCs, or
any other devices you use in your home theater system. This battery
backup unit is designed to preserve your system settings, such as
recording times, or keep a hard drive from losing power while in
the middle of use. The PureAV Battery Backup uses a 1200VA/640W
battery to provide up to 40 minutes of battery backup power.
Unlike most battery backup units that switch to battery backup mode
only when a power outage occurs, thereby leaving your system
unprotected from constant voltage sags and surges, the PureAV
Battery Backup uses proprietary Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
technology that constantly corrects for small voltage fluctuations.
AVR technology ensures that you have stable and clean power to all
of your equipment at all times. But when a power outage occurs, the
PureAV Battery Backup switches to battery backup mode until power
is restored or you are able to safely turn off your equipment,
thereby saving your equipment from expensive, and possible fatal,
damage.
Superior Protection
The PureAV Battery Backup delivers stable clean power through eight
surge protected outlets, six which are connect to battery backup.
It offers 5,500 joules of surge protection and, in addition to AC
power lines, it also protects coaxial-cable,
pay-per-view/DSL/telephone, and broadband Ethernet (RJ45) lines.
The PureAV Battery Backup also prevents electromagnetic and radio
frequency interference from affecting your home theater system.
The Belkin PureAV Home Theater Battery Backup with AVR Technology

quality cable at a reasonable cost. The RG-6 part stands for "Radio

are F-type. These are standard on things like cable-boxes and VCRs.
There are two types. Screw-on, which are more secure and thus
reliable, and the push-on types, which are great for inserting in
tight spaces behind VCRs. This cable uses the screw-on type.

(More customer reviews)I've been working
in the UK for the past 5 months, and have been using this adapter
every day for my MacBook, and using the USB port to charge my iPod
and Blackberry.Great how I can use both simultaneously (and saves
me the trouble of plugging everything into my laptop).Haven't had
any issues with this (where another adapter I brought burned out
the first week).I love how the other adapter plugs fit fairly
snugly in the shell.Good for people traveling to the UK, as this is
the plug you see in the pictures (so no extra configuration
necessary).I just bought another one for myself.Would definitely
recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)I bought the BE650R
for two purposes:The first is to provide battery backup power for
my home computer system on a daily basis. The second is to use with
my portable generator to provide "clean power" to all of my
electronics when the power goes out and I'm forced to use it.The
BE650R handles both situations very well.
The provided PowerChute software installed without a problem and
managed the computer system perfectly when the power went out,
completing a graceful shutdown when the battery got low.APC only
provides the most basic version of their software (you have the
option of buying an upgraded one).It doesn't have any reporting or
testing features, but given the size of the BE650R I don't see why
you would care. This is a UPS for workstations and small
electronics, not servers, so I don't see the need for robust UPS
software.
The UPS hooks up via a provided USB cable and the setup was very
easy. The BE650R provide about 11 minutes of run time for my system,
which is comprised of a 350-watt computer, 19-in lcd monitor,
wireless router and dsl modem.
As for using the UPS with the generator, I haven't had any problems
so far.The generator maufacturer recommmends using at least a surge
supressor with their product, but I figured a UPS would be one step
better.
I would definitely recommend this unit.
