(More customer reviews)The cork screw is beautiful in appearence. It works well at removing a cork from a bottle. Your screw it in. A ratcheting mechanism allows you to move the handle back without removing your hand form the corksrew, and then you pull out the cork using your own muscle power. However the stopping lever, supposed to hold the ratcheting worm in place, to allow you unscrew the cork off of the worm, does not hold the worm in place. It slips, making removal of the cork from the cork screw extremely difficult. I've had to remove the worm (it pops out easily with a push button) and hold the end with a wrench in order to remove the cork from the worm.

(More customer reviews)This particular foil cutter is the BEST!It's flexible and will adapt to any shape or size neck of the bottle, and is easy to use and cuts 100% of the foil 100% of the time.I recieved one as a gift and didn't appreciate how good it was until I thought I'd lost it.I got another foil cutter (the rigid round kind) and hated it.I got another foil cutter (the rigid oval kind that you have to juggle around the neck) and I hated it.There was a foil cutting knife on one of my corkscrews but it was dangerous and erratic in my hands. I searched department stores, liquor stores, etc. and didn't have the good luck to find another one of these...having lost the one, I didn't know a brandname and the clerks looked at me like a madwoman when I tried to describe a "flexible horseshoe thingy" to them.
To make a long story short: the happy ending is that I found my original foil cutter in a knapsack pocket and now I can live happily ever after.But THIS is the make and model that I had searched and searched for:in my humble opinion, the BEST.

The company does not refund freight to/from and also adds a 15% restocking charge. Their freight charge to us was $15.00. Also, they list its weight at 10 pounds. Its weight is 15 pounds.
I don't expect to do any business with this company again.

In addition, the holes on the garlic press don't line up so it'svery difficult to clean out, and by the third time we used the corkscrew, it broke too. I can't really complainabout the peeler and I've never used the nut-cracker. This was a big waste of money and space in my kitchen.I threw away the carousel because I only have 2 of the original 5 pieces left. Save your money-- get something that works.

R?sle 12782 Garlic Press Review

(More customer reviews)There's no doubt that the Rosle is extremely good--in fact, I would have given it five stars just a few weeks ago. But then I purchased the Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press (#2315), after reading a recent review of it in Cook's Illustrated. After repeatedly comparing the two side-by-side, the Kuhn is unquestionably the better press. It's also about $8 cheaper here on Amazon, but that's just a bonus--I didn't consider price for this review.

What's strange is that the crushing mechanisms appear to be identical. In fact, prior to crushing with the Kuhn, I felt disappointed when I received it, convinced that I had just bought the same garlic press twice. However, for whatever reason (and it remains a mystery to me), the Kuhn's crushing of garlic is clearly superior in two ways: 1) It produces a more beautifully consistent mince of the garlic, whereas the result from the Rosle seems more "smashed" by comparison. The difference isn't subtle--I was honestly shocked by it. 2) The pressing is more complete, with less left behind in the hopper, and it presses unpeeled garlic better, as well. (That said, I get a much better press from either unit with peeled cloves.)

Ergonomically, the shape of the Kuhn also handles better, although I never had a problem with the Rosle. And I'd say both units have stainless steel construction of equally high quality. For me, it was the crushing performance and not the handling that has sadly relegated my Rosle to the drawer, since I now always reach first for the Kuhn.
