LaserJet 4M plus for years. The 2420 warms up quicker and prints
much faster.
Unlike the 4M, the 2420 is silent! In fact, I often forget to turn
it off when leaving the office.
The descriptions for the 2420 are confusing. The 500-sheet paper
tray is NOT included. We bought one separately.

(More customer reviews)I was concerned
that this model might be as bad as the 1240 model, but after about
a week of use, the 1040 model is working good. No paper feeding
problems when sending faxes.
The fax machine is sharing the same line as my regular phone with
no problems, but you must physically locate your answering machine
next to the fax so that you can plug it into your fax machine for
this to work. Messages go to the answering machine, and faxes go to
the fax machine just as they should.

(More customer reviews)I have a Dymo
printer and you'd think that one would use it less than say, a
regular inkjet, but no. I use this most of all. The Dymo takes
several sizes of thermal label rolls, from large shipping labels,
to name tags, to thinner file folder tabs or general purpose
labels. The software allows you to input the brand of label, the
format, and set up your own shipping label or return address, or
whatever. You can even add graphics. The software, which gets
updated from time to time on the Dymo website, handles input from
database software so you can print out many addresses. You can save
frequently-used labels (addresses for bills, friends.) If you do a
lot of shipping or mailing, this is a very useful thing to own, and
I really love mine. It works flawlessly.

(More customer reviews)Bought the HP2420
to go with a new Mac G5. Great printer. Worked fine with Mac OS
10.3 where the driver software was provided by HP. Upgraded to the
new OS Tiger 10.4.x where, unfortunately, the driver is now
provided embedded in the Mac OS. Printer works fine, except that
the Mac Safari browser cannot print to the 2420. When one attempts
to print the printer generates an 0049 memory exception message. HP
documentation says to turn the printer off to clear the memory. HP
online says no driver is available for the Mac OS 10.4 since it is
embedded in the OS. Catch 22--currently there is no fix available.
Neither HP or Apple have responded to my complaints. Foxfire and
Internet Explorer print just fine.

(More customer reviews)This is a great
printer and delivers on HP's promises. It is very versatile for
small office printing. In our office though, we have a particular
need to print from Autocad. This printer will not print properly as
a system printer from Autocad (at least not in Windows 2000). There
is a problem with the HP driver. This was solved by configuring the
printer to print from Autocad using an older driver for a Laserjet
5. I do get an annoying device conflict warning every time I print
though. This was accomplished, I might add, with no help from HP
whatsoever. Not that I didn't try. Their primary solution seems to
be to throw a bunch of HP users together and let them help each
other. No one had a solution for my particular problem. HP makes
great products, it is a shame that their support is so substandard.
Product quality 5, minus 1 for lack of support.

(More customer reviews)I ordered an
Olivetti Linea manual typewriter and expected to recieve a brand
new item. It arrived in a rather tattered and " well traveled "
box.Upon closer inspection the single wall thin cardboard box
showed signs of other labels having been removed from the box at
another time. Although everything was intact upon opening the box
after removing the plastic bag surrounding the typewriter it was
obvious this was not a new machine. There was oil residue on some
of the keytops, 4 type bars were bent, all of the type looked as it
needed a good cleaning as they were beginning to fill in with
ribbon residue. A section of the upper plastic cover( access cover
to the ribbon spools ) showed signs of abrasive wear.
After carefully removing the shipping blocks from the carriage
assembly there was a bind in the carriage from the left side and
also in the center travel of the carriage resulting in uneven
spacing in characters typed in these parts of carriage travel.
Upon installation of the platten advance knob, in a few turns there
was binding in the rotation of the carriage. At this point I knew
this was a defective piece of equipment and most likely something
that had been returned by a previous customer.
When I called the dealer and explained this situation to them I
also read the information from a pink color card that was packed
with the typewriter and I questioned why the customer name was
shown as Olivetti. It was at this point the dealer admitted that an
error must have taken place and that the pink card was in fact a
Repair Form !
I was issued a return authorization which I recived in the mail a
few weeks later and returned this typewriter per the instructions
and the return shippping was at My Own Expense !
I was sent a replacement typewriter and once again it arrived in a
tattered and worn box which I feel is just not durable enough for
something of this weight. The replacement typewriter had binding in
the carriage, the Tabulation system was totally innoperative, the
upper access cover did not even match the rest of the plastic case
nor did it fit properly.I am assuming this cover may have been from
a different machine.Additionally the piece of decorative trim from
the front of the typewriter just above the keyboard was laying on
top of the keyboard when I opened the box as the glue holding it in
place must have dried out and the trim just fell off.Again, I found
another Pink Repair Card inside of the box with this typewriter so
I immediately made arrangements to return this one and did not want
to bother having a replacement sent. Once again return shipping was
at My Expense.
Should you buy one of these typewriters, even if it is a brand new
and not used ones like I recieved do not expect this to be like the
manual typewriters of years ago.Although the basic framework for
the typing section appears durable there are other things that are
not.More than likely you will not find any local repair shop for
these either. The platten material is very thin compared to the
manual typewriters of years ago and other deficiencies were noted
as well.
Should you decide to buy one of these take my advice,Insist on
having it Well Packed andDouble Boxed !The original box is just not
that durable and other than the styrofoam forms on each end of the
typewriter the box offers very little protection against shipping
damage.
These machines are made in a factory in India and I doubt they are
manufactured by Olivetti, they may just have a license to put that
name on them.Although it looks authentic and similar to the Manual
Office Typewriters we used a few decades ago, the durability and
build quality have little similarity.
I have been using typewriters for over 50 years both manual,
electric, electronic, portable and office models.I have also used
Teletype Machines for worldwide printed communications long before
The Internet so I feel I have had enough experience to qualify this
review.

(More customer reviews)The Lexmark X204N
prints right around the manufactures published specs. Both plain
text and pdf print and copy at about 20-24ppm.I know this since I
actually timed it. I tested with graphics print and it was still in
the 20-24ppm. So, if you are not printing this fast you need to
check your drivers on Lexmark's website, and upload the latest
updates.
When I first used the scanner I was having problems using the
scanning software with Presto Page Manager. It ran slow. Instead,
after talking to support, I opted for the other software that comes
with the printer called the Lexmark Scan Center.
I orinally reviewed this printer with 5 stars. But, do to countless
printing issues, I must downgrade its quality. It seems like nearly
any kind of
required Windows update, or software update from an unrelated
program pends the printing function of this printer. Then, in order
to print the pages stuck in the pending file you must reboot your
computer. Hopefully you are not in the middle of something
important, or have 5 other programs open that take time and
passwords to restart again.
All in all, I decided that this printer just puts me into a bad
mood. I never know when it will print. I had an old HP Laser jet
for over 10 years, and
it printed 100 pct of the time. I have owned the Lexmark x204n for
only 5 months and it has had about a dozen printing malfunctions.
Despite 3 phone calls to tech support, and several updates the
problem was unresolved. I guess I should have heeded the advice of
my local computer guy and old friend and never bought a Lexmark.
They still have all the problems they have been known to have with
past printers.

Road Mice - the Camaro Highway Patrol and the Red Corvette. Both
are really great quality and like I said in the title - smooth and
accurate. I had to contact customer support regarding the Camaro
two weeks ago when I received it. Very professional and had an
answer that day. Easy setup, put in the batteries to the mouse and
plug the receiver into your USB port. Finally, pair the devices by
hitting the button on the receiver and then the button on the car.
Within a few seconds the mouse is ready. My Son is a car fanatic
and this was a nice surprise for him. Clicking the left/right mouse
will light up the left/right headlights. This feature can be turned
off to conserve batteries but takes away from the fun. Altogether,
I am very satisfied with my purchase.

(More customer reviews)This is one slick
piece of kit. Quite easy to to setup with a bit of network basics
under your belt. Plug in phone line to a spare jack and then a CAT5
cable to a spare router port. I then manually entered static IP
information into FAX machine (even easier if you use DHDP) and then
setup options on FAX how I wanted it. To add, edit or delete email
addresses, etc I then went to internet explorer, typed
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, which is the FAX machine's IP and used the
internet based configuration page. Up and running in less than 10
minutes. I use PDF as the format and get pretty darn good quality
documents. I used PDF because every computer should have adobe
reader installed these days. Admittedly a bit more effort is
involved to setup options specific to how you want to use it but I
found it very, very easy to install and setup. No harder than any
other FAX machine really.
I only FAX a few pages once or twice a week. For large business
usage you may need to think twice on a larger more expensive
make/model.
Pro : cheap price, duplexing, scans quickly, good scan memory size,
relatively easy setup (maybe not so for a novice but instructions
are clear and concise), don't have to use the somewhat expensive
ink cartridges on the fax but have them go straight to email and
then I print them on my laser printer ... the list of good points
goes on and on and on ...
Cons : None so far

(More customer reviews)While advertised as
being compatible with the Macintosh operating system, the
installation manual's instructions for getting the wireless system
working do not work. I needed to use Lexmark's live chat (and allow
them to wire in to my computer) to get it working using a
completely different installation procedure. Then within a few
weeks, the wireless network card began having problems and I needed
to resort to live chat again. The technician told me there was NO
way to install the printer on a Mac, even though I'd already done
it. Almost three hours later, while trying to access a menu on the
printer that apparently does not actually exist, the printer
started printing from the queue on its own. The technician declared
the printer fixed. Within an hour, it stopped working again. The
error code clearly says the network card has an unrecoverable error
and needs to be replaced, but Lexmark keeps sending me new things
to try to get it working. So now I can only use my wireless printer
when it is connected by USB cable.
On the positive side, print quality is excellent. Speed is good
unless there are graphics, in which case it is very slow.
If the wireless card wasn't broken and/or if the technical support
people could actually fix the problem, I'd probably rate the
printer four stars.

(More customer reviews)As always, here's
my honest review with some background.
I've been looking for a good laser printer that I could have on my
network for a while now.I have a small office and am an aspiring
teacher (currently student teaching). When I can't get to the copy
machine at school, I wanted something I could use to do some "mass
printouts" for my students.I had an old NEC Superscript, but it
frequently paused between pages for a breather and was generally
slow.
If you don't need the network card (print server) built into this
printer, then the 1320 (not 1320n) would be an amazing value! For
me, I wanted the networking, so I was willing to spend the extra
money.Setup was relatively simple, changing the IP address was
easy, and I was up and running, printing from my Windows XP
machines AND my MacOS X (10.3.7) machines.
Now for the printer itself.I'm very impressed with the build
quality.Printers have been turning into plastic junk lately, but
this one still has metal guts, metal supports holding the paper in
the bottom tray, etc.Certain parts seem like generic plastic, but
overall it has a nice fit and finish.
Print speeds are amazingly swift! The first thing I put this little
print-monster through was a 70-copy worksheet for my students.It
took sheet after sheet without a pause! It might grab paper just
when the previous sheet is half way through because they seem to
keep flying out!Duplex printing was a bonus with this unit - handy
in a pinch, but it slows the print speed by about 2-3 times -
because it pulls the paper back inside and reprints on the other
side...Either way, I dare you to find a quality printer like this,
with a duplexer for this price!
Instant on fuser sends paper printing within 8 seconds.Overall, I'm
very pleased!I was tempted to get the next model up (2420) but the
price difference with no standard duplexer killed that deal.
Wish list?An tiny LCD display telling me whats going on would be
nice - but it has lights which do the job just fine. Also - and I'm
just dreaming here, it would be nice to see an option for this
printer to staple printouts...I know, I've been around pricey copy
machines too much!
So, pick yourself up this printer! You won't be sorry. The print
quality is very crisp - your well-known HP laser quality, and even
graphics are suitable! Its B&W (no color printing), but the
money saved on just one toner from time to time as apposed to
inkjet cartridges every other month is mind boggling!...and how
often do you need color printing? Some may, but for the bulk of what
I print, B&W is fine.
High recommended! ...feel free to contact me if you have any
questions that I might be able to help you with.
