(More customer reviews)I bought the Waring Pro Professional Juice Extractor JEX328 to use when I visit the USA.I originally wanted to buy L'Equip Mini Pulp Ejector Juicer, an excellent juicer that I use at home in the UK, but it was a bit pricey so I found a reconditioned Waring at a very good price on the internet (approx. $25).

Pros: sturdy / easy to use / comes with spout cleaner and its own jug which the L'Equip does not
Cons: Bit noisy / quite large and cumbersome / takes longer to clean than the L'Equip / lower yield than the L'Equip and some chunks of fruit and vegetables found in waste basket / pusher tends to stick sometimes

Although I definitely notice a difference between the two machines, I enjoy using the Waring, and consider it a good juicer for the price I paid.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these in 1977. And it's still in excellent condition after about a million (more or less) glasses of juice. What more can you ask?
Well, perhaps easier cleaning.Pulp gets wedged in the basket and you need a stiff brush to get it loose. Some dishwashers will do the trick, but you may end up scrubbing. Thus four instead of five stars.
If you need to make more than two glasses of juice, you'll probably have to stop and empty the basket of pulp before continuing.The Champion juicer spits out the pulp while juicing and might be a better choice for those who have large families.
Nevertheless, this Waring juicer (they bought out the old Acme brand) gets every drop of juice from your veggies and fruit. Don't even consider a cheaper juicer, as you'll pay the price in needing more produce to come up with a good glass of juice.Bon Apetit!

Tried 11 Oster's and 8 Black & Decker steamers over the past 2.5 years. Oster's electronics went out. B&D's plastic cracked in dishwasher and fell apart. We steam 2x per day fully loaded.

The Taylor made Biggest Loser Steamer so far exceeds both the others. It's still new - only 3 weeks of use - but it's design is obviously well thought through. Easy to read numbers on the timer, back-lit water level indicator, power on light easy to see across the kitchen. Nice colors and lip handles on water part means you don't have to wait for it to cool down to take apart. Plastic is thicker so we hope it won't crack in the dishwasher.

UPDATE: Less than 2 months of use, like a hot marbel dropped in cold water, the CLEAR plastic parts are shattering. Only the CLEAR plastic, NOT the GREEN plastic. Both are washed together in the dishwasher. AND the knob now turns only clockwise. It's jammed if we try to turn it counter-clockwise.Just ordered another black & decker which holds up the best.

I don't know how to reduce the # of stars, but now I give it a 1 star.

Looks like we're the biggest loser.

(More customer reviews)I like the press.Definitely worth it if you intend to make a lot of tomato sauce.I make it for the winter and it's much faster as opposed to the hand crank.My only problem was that the first one I received was put together so tightly that I could not take it apart.Called the vendor and the customer service representative was really nice and had a replacement out to me the same week as she knew I had the tomatos already.The only compliant I have is that even though the customer service rep did everything in her power, the warehouse did not send a return number to have the old one picked up for over three weeks.Thus, I had the old one in my house for quite a while wondering if I was going to get billed for two machines and then have to deal with the credit card company about that.

(More customer reviews)We bought this blender/food processor combo last month and after about a week on the second use of the food processor, noticed that the plastic latches that hold the lid on the food processor were broken.Amazon happily replaced the appliance.However, when unpacking the new items, the bottom of the food processor mechanism came off.We've promptly returned the second blender for a refund this time.I guess we'll look for another kind/brand.

(More customer reviews)I bought and used this Tomato Press and certainly didn't get the results they show in the photograph.Instead this Tomato press wasted a majority of the tomato (it separated much more than just skin and seeds), all that came down the slide was liquid - essentially it was a 'juicer'.I can't recommend this item to anyone and am now actively looking for one that really works of a a different brand.
BTW, the box it is packed in is really flimsy and the design of the unit is very crude at best.Despite how it looks in the photograph it is made essentially of what looks like pressed tin.

(More customer reviews)This exprimadore (citrus press) is a solid, attractive manual tool that works effectively; I found it as easy to use as simple electric citrus juicers in which a citrus-half is manually pushed down onto a spinning juicing cone. Inexpensive electric juicers of this type tend to overheat and stop working when used heavily. The manual exprimadore is thus an interesting alternative to heavy duty electric juicers, which are more costly than the exprimadore. I've used this exprimadore on about 100 lime and lemon halves, and it seems quite sturdy.

With this said, the manufacturer of this model(Gonzalez) leaves surprising flaws in the product. The rubber feet were of very low quality, and mark the surface on which they are used. The press rocks about 1/8" because the four feet are not aligned. Finally, the actual parts that will contact the fruit halves arrived with a fairly tenacious film of machine grease; I used a Scotch-Brite scouring pad to clean it.

(More customer reviews)I bought this tomato press to replace a similar one I got years ago which finally just wore out.Be aware that the actual color of the press is RED not the white as in the photo.The square bowl that comes with this particular press is handy for catching the offloaded tomato remnants.A comment about these type of presses making only "tomato soup" which is sort of true, the pressed tomato stuff that comes out of the chute is sort of soup-like but makes a great base for spaghetti sauce, salsa, and pizza sauce.I usually add a can of tomato paste to thicken the sauce up.Secondly I saw one reviewer's comments about the left over tomato stuff being a waste, well, I learned years ago to just keep putting that material back in the hopper and re-pressing it.I recently did about 10 pounds of tomatoes from my garden and got 4 huge containers of sauce with only seeds, a stem or three, and bits of skin left over.My wife was amazed at how little is left after you keep re-pressing.
The only down side to these presses is the squisher part which is inside is tough to clean.All in all though a great way to make a sauce base for the money and a great use of my garden tomatoes.

R.P.M Blender (Silver) (900 watt) Review

(More customer reviews)So I got this blender after doing a bunch of research and wanting a blender that chops ice well, and makes smoothies well. (You need a really high speed blender or else the little strawberry seeds don't get chopped up, etc) This blender is great at that.

The two major downsides are: The canister breaks. A lot. We're on our third one now. Each of them has cracked and broken at the base where the blades attach. The first time it was replaced for free, and this time I'm told there is only a one year warranty on the canister (5 years on the motor) so i had to buy a new canister for $25 or so shipped. Bleh.

The other big downside is, there is very little bottom end speed control. For instance, lets say you want to have the lid off but the unit running on a low speed mixing up protein powder or something as you pour it in. It is VERY hard to get the unit to run at such a speed. Either the blades stop, or they are going too fast. It's really annoying to go through this every morning, trying to get the unit to settle at a good speed, only to have it increase/decrease as I take the lid off just because I jostled the machine a bit, and have to start over.

I LOVE how well it blends, but I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it because of the problems I've had with the canister and speed control.

Edit 10/23/2010 - Our current (3rd) canister is cracked again (but not leaking). Unfortunately, the blade assembly is worn out and needs to be replaced. Water is leaking out through the bearings inside it. Sighhhhh

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for a blender/food processor/blending system that could hold up to the ingredients I put in my smoothies, and this one works like a charm, even when my ingredients include big chunks of nectarines or walnut halves.All of my smoothies have come out smooth, not chunky, and this is even replacing my Cuisinart mini-prep as go-to kitchen appliance of choice.

Other things I love about this blender:
- There's a locking mechanism that allows you to set it to blend and walk away.
- With the multiple blending cups, I never have to worry about having a clean one handy.I wash the blades by hand, but put the cups and lids in the top rack of the dishwasher.
- A screw-on cap is included, so I can take my smoothies with me if I don't have time to drink it at home.

Finally, my smoothie recipe (which I now consume every morning):
- 1 peach or nectarine, in big chunks
- handful of fresh blueberries, if available (otherwise, frozen)
- handful of fresh raspberries
- 1/3 c. lowfat cottage cheese
- 1/3 c. plain lowfat yogurt
- 5-10 walnut halves

(More customer reviews)I bought this press last year and used it to press 7 bushels of tomatoes that I purchased from a nearby farm.It was my first tomato press, but I have some experience using an older one at my boyfriend's house, who's been pressing tomatoes since he was young - as a yearly tradition.This press was much more efficient (made significantly less waste) than the older one.The motor worked well, and it got through the seven bushels fairly fast without making too much of a mess (we were careful of course).It's only flaw as far as I can tell, is that the entrance at the top where the tomatoes go in is a bit too small, so almost all of the tomatoes we had needed to be cut in half before putting them into the press.We had medium sized roma tomatoes, and so far as I can tell, this would be true for most types with the exception of cherry tomatoes.With that said, I definitely plan on using it again next year, and I think it was well worth the cost.If you're considering getting one of the hand crank ones, I would strongly advise against it, and recommend this one instead, since it would save you a lot of effort, especially for bigger jobs.
