Apple's iPod Touch, often known as the itouch, was launched in
September 2007 and rapidly established itself as a firm favourite
with iPod fans. It combined the usual iPod mp3 music and video
player with wi-fi and touch screen technology making it much more
like the iPhone rather than the other iPod family members. The
second generation iPod Touch, featuring external volume controls, a
built-in speaker, a contoured back plus built-in "Nike " support,
was released by Apple on September 9, 2008. First generation users
were catered for with software upgrades they could buy quite
cheaply. The updates allowed first generation iPod Touch devices to
access the App Store, download third-party applications, together
with a host of minor adjustments which fixed small "glitches". In
addition to the announced features and very much unsupported by
Apple, the iPod Touch has Bluetooth capability. This is due to the
included wi-fi chip having Bluetooth and FM Radio support, as well
as it's usual wi-fi capability.
