If this is the first time you have played a Druid you should find this information helpful to help get you going. We will be going over the overall playing strategies most beneficial when using a Druid in world of warcraft.

There were only two choices of race to choose from in the first version of world of warcraft. For the Alliance Druid, the night elf is the race you will have to be. If the Horde is more to your liking then you will have to be a tauren. When first starting out, with whatever kind of character you have, don’t over complicate things. Get used to your characters traits, spells and fighting techniques. Keep yourself out of harms way by avoiding long periods of fighting.

Stay clear of hand to hand combat when just starting out, try to fight from afar. But don’t misinterpret this as just fooling around. Focus your efforts on questing and be sure not to miss any quests. You don’t want to miss out on any quests during your first several levels, so make sure you do them all.

Really when you are leveling a new character regardless of its class or race you need to focus on 3 things. They are as follows:

Your spec
Your gear
Your questing routes: Bar NONE this is the most important factor in how fast you level.

Talents became a little bit more awkward when 4.0 came out. Instead of gaining a talent point every level, players now get one at level 10, one at level 11, and one every other level thereafter. It takes a little bit of getting used to and can feel a little wonky at first when you realize that there are some levels where you really don’t feel like you are getting anything, but it becomes second nature after a while.

So if you’re leveling a druid, what gear spec should you pick? If you’re soloing a character, then the fastest way to level is to gear for melee dps. This is best done in cat and moonkin form. When you spec for this form, you can attack mobs and not have the issue of running low on mana as you would in caster form. This means faster leveling and less need to stop for mana.
