How to Propose to a Man in Leap Year

Relationship and courtship rules have significantly changed over the years, and it has now become acceptable for women to ask men out for dates or even marriage. Long ago, women were expected to wait around for their love to pop the question, with the exception of February 29th which only occurs during leap year. Also known as Sadie Hawkins Day, the tradition of women being able to ask a man for his hand in marriage dates back hundreds of years, but was only considered acceptable on a day that only occurs once every four years. Although this tradition is pretty much extinct, asking a man for his hand in marriage on Sadie Hawkins day is still very romantic, and a very popular day for popping the question.

Asking a man for his hand is marriage is just as special as a man proposing to a woman, so it should be planned out to make it a memorable event. Since the date is already decided, the next step is planning out a nice location to pop the question. Sticking with the entire Sadie Hawkins theme, you should make the date plans and invite him out to join you. Because Sadie Hawkins day represents women having equal rights, the date should be planned around something that you really enjoy. You can plan a dinner and a movie, a romantic picnic at the beach, or just about anything you can think of that you know the two of you will enjoy.

The next step is deciding when to pop the question, because there is always the perfect moment in almost any situation. You can plan to have the ring placed in a glass of champagne if you are planning a dinner date, or hide it inside a picnic basket if you go for an outdoors theme. You can even hide the ring in your purse and whip it out at the right moment, or try and sneak it into his pocket. Although almost any scenario can be perfect, you will want to make sure and use the element of surprise to your advantage. The day you propose to your soon-to-be husband is going to be a day the two of you will never forget, so try your best to make it exciting and fun, rather than dull and boring.

Because the leap year is a long time tradition, it is ideal for women to follow proposal traditions as well. Getting down on one knee isn’t only for men, so feel free to do so when popping the question to your guy. You may get some silly looks if you are in a restaurant or in public, but all that matters is that you are showing your man how much you love him. Slip the ring on his finger like he would for you, and keep your fingers crossed while you wait for a response.

Proposing to a man on February 29th is a long time tradition, and a great way to make your proposal memorable. Proposing to your soon-to-be husband will be a story that can be told over and over again, and a great way to show your man how much you really care about him. Instead of waiting and waiting for your man to propose to you, start making plans to propose to him since February 29th is just around the corner.

This list of the top 10 holiday proposal ideas is sure to impress the woman you love. Creative holiday proposals are the best way to ensure that this season will be one you will not soon forget.

1. On Christmas Eve or Christmas morning when everyone is gathered in your home, arrange for Santa to come by with a small gift. You can either have a friend dress up as Santa or hire a service to knock on the door and announce that they have a gift for your fiance.

2. If you are good on the computer, compile a slide show of photos of the two of you. Explain that this is a present you created just for her and the last slide should say, “Will you marry me?”

3. Buy a plain puzzle or a holiday themed puzzle that is fairly bland. Write out the phrase will you marry me and then have her put the puzzle together.

4. Use holiday lights and assemble them on the outside of your home or on a board. Plug them in and watch her grin from ear to ear.

5. Hide the tiny ring box behind the tree where no one can see it. When everyone has finished opening their presents, tell your love that she forgot to open one. Tell her to reach further back behind the tree and bask in her shock and amazement.

6. Get four boxes that go from big to small and then start by wrapping the ring box in the smallest one and then keep re-boxing until you get to the largest. Your girlfriend will be caught off guard and she will never suspect that the huge box for her under the tree is an engagement ring. Many people have told me that they love this one and that it should be first on the list of the top 10 holiday proposal ideas.

7. Have a group of carolers come to your house and sing a Christmas song, when they are half way through the song, have them ask in unison, will you marry me? Of all the creative holiday proposal ideas, this is my personal favorite.

8. Rent her favorite holiday movie from the video store and make a huge bowl of popcorn. Place the ring box at the bottom of the bowl and when she sees it she will be giddy with excitement.

The Best Time of Day For Getting Married on a Boat

If you’re planning a boat wedding, you want everything arranged down to the last detail. That means one of the first determinations is what time of day to get married. Most people avoid the early morning for a boat wedding, since the sea air tends to be cool. Although? you can find a spectacular sunrise for the backdrop, many people who want to have the sky in a multicolored hue behind their boat wedding will opt for a sunset as the background.

Another consideration is bright, midday sun and its effect on your clothes, hair, cake, and guests. Overhead light and heat that is too bright causes clothing, hair and guest to wilt uncomfortably, unless you have a large boat and an indoor ceremony.

So for an outdoor boat ceremony, midday may not work. Of course, Toronto cruises on Lake Ontario don’t have some of the same considerations about heat, since the temperature is milder than some tropical locations.

The couple can then be more flexible about the time of day that they plan their wedding. The couple will also want to consider the direction of the sunlight and what effect it will have on photographs and the comfort of the guests.

For example, while you’ll want plenty of light, you don’t want light originating behind the photo subjects, or the people in every photo will have shadows on their faces. Additionally, you won’t want all of your guests staring into the sun as they are attempting to view your wedding ceremony.

You should consider the angle of the sun and the hours of daylight in the area where you are having your wedding cruise so that you can plan for the best sunlight scenario.

If your wedding is on one of the Toronto cruises on Ontario? Lake, then you’ll have different considerations than someone using a tropical cruise charter.

Late afternoon remains a very popular time of day for a boat wedding. The sun is still shining brightly, but is not directly overhead. With a little pre-planning, you can locate the ceremony on the boat where it will be beautifully lit and still conducive to easy viewing and photographs.

If your wedding and subsequent reception or social gathering extends into the evening on the boat, or if you opt for a night wedding, then be sure to bring a wrap or shawl of some kind. You may want to suggest such a covering to your guests as well.

The night breezes on a boat an also be quite chilly, and you don’t want to be shivering through your ceremony or reception. Likewise, you’ll want your guests to be comfortable as well. Again, this is mostly a consideration if your wedding is on the deck of the ship, not if you are in a large stateroom or lounge protected from the elements.

Planning ahead will enable you to choose just the right time of day for your boat wedding.

Wedding Proposal Ideas – Creative Ways to Propose That Will Have Her Saying Yes!

So you have finally decided to pop the question to your partner, but before you get down on bended knee, you want to work out the perfect way to propose to her.

If you don’t want to go down the path of the same old wedding proposal ideas, if you’re looking for creative ways to propose that will ensure your girl says yes, then read on.

Your about to ask the most important question of your life, you are going to propose to the girl of your dreams but you don’t want your wedding proposal to be a stock standard, dull and unimaginative one, after all you want her to be impressed and says yes don’t you?

The first thing you need to do to come up with creative wedding proposal ideas, is to get in touch with what your girl likes most and what is likely to make her happy.

For example let’s say she is into theatre big time, find out what shows she absolutely loves (you will probably already know this if you have been together for some time) what better way to propose than to get her a box at her favorite show, you want to find something fun like a musical or love story, then at the climax of the show, when everyone else is busy applauding, turn to your girl, look into her eyes and with ring in hand ask her to marry you. She will be so overjoyed she won’t be able to do anything but say yes, she will remember that moment forever.

This is but one example, it doesn’t matter if your girl is into sports, travel, outdoors or even bungee jumping there is the perfect proposal for everyone, you just have to get in touch with what your girl likes and do some creative thinking.
