Summary: Dream world...
Livin' the Dream
It was difficult to convey the daily occurrences in a trip which
was both monumentally busy and also quite uniform. In
addition, being in a country that routinely charges upwards of
dollarsignr30 for internet access makes it a bit challenging to
provide constant and well thought out updates. Having made the
decision to come to [...]

Friday was a typical Italian day – lazy… the plan was to drive to
France, a supposedly short drive to the town of Orcieres, France
for the second Super Enduro Euro Cup race. Initially the plan
was to leave at 10 am. That plan was changed after the
determination was made that it would be [...]

The past 8 days have consisted of more time on a downhill bike then
I usually put in during an entire summer. In addition to the
riding at Sauze D’oulx, the town that’s served as our base camp for
the past week, we’ve been traveling to nearby resorts to check out
the trail systems and [...]

Saturday in Italy was spent at the Sauze d’Oulx bike park riding in
preparation for the race on Sunday. In addition to feeling
pretty drained of energy from all the riding we’ve been doing over
the past few days, I have developed a complete aversion to all
Italian food; meaning I am not eating… anything. [...]

After 8 hours of death sleep, I woke to birds chirping and a
mountain of downhill trails calling. A lovely Euro breakfast
(rock hard roll, coffee – thank god, and jam) fueled me for a day
that shaped up to be very eventful! Fraser and I spent the
morning riding the trails to be used [...]

Today, or rather, in the technical sense, yesterday, began at 4:15.
4:15 am is not my preferred wake up time, while I consider
myself generally a morning person, that’s pushing it. I
struggled through a stress and sleep deprivation induced breakdown
after discovering that my Bar study materials were making my bag to
heavy to [...]

Six days is a long time to spend in a half inch thick bike “saddle”
(torture device if you ask me). However, having the
opportunity to ride my bike with fellow enthusiasts, assisted, for
almost 400 miles is an experience that few are lucky enough to
have. I cherished the chance to see new parts [...]

I am very vain. I’m constantly concerned with maintaining my
appearance and thus, this week, since I am a roadie, I am highly
invested in upholding my appearance as a roadie. I wear my
bike shoes into coffee shops, obsess about hydration, the pros and
cons of various nutritional aides, and ardently discuss wheelsets.
I’m [...]

I’m not sure what sort of seriously disturbed parents gets their
child a 380 mile bike ride for her birthday. Unless
perhaps they’re trying to kill said child… Nonetheless, I was given
the opportunity to “Ride the Rockies” this year, my first, despite
having lived in Colorado most of my life. The tour this year
started [...]

Maintaining a daily blog was never really the plan… so my apologies
for not keeping interested readers abreast of the exciting events
and circumstances of my life over the past three months. It
went a little like this: eat, sleep,
study, ”work”, ski. Repeat with change of
seasons. Substitue biking for sking. Substitute law
school study for Bar [...]
