(More customer reviews)I'm reviewing the National Geographic Ski Master Watch, NG702GKSY.This is not the hiking watch, it is the Ski model with the yellow band.The NG702GKSK is the same watch with a black band.

Ergonomically, yes, this is a big watch, and it has a stainless steel case, so it is heavy.The weight is definitely noticeable at first, but I rapidly became accustomed to it.Because the wrist band flows smoothly into the shape of the case, this helps to reduce the visual sense of the size.On the down side, the watch won't take aftermarket bands.

The watch packs a lot of functionality.In addition to the usual watch functions, two time zones, timer, chronometer, alarm, the watch has pressure (barometer/altimeter), compass, and temperature sensors.

In this model, the altimeter function feeds into a "ski log" database.In ski mode, the watch senses the beginning and end of a descent, and keeps records for each as a "lap".

If you manually enter the slope of the run, the watch calculates maximum and average descent speeds for each lap.Unfortunately, where I ski, this slope information is not readily available.

The watch provides the following data for each lap:
Start time, descent time, max speed, average speed, highest altitude, lowest altitude, altitude change, and a graph of descent altitude vs time.

It also can provide a summary of your laps:
Date, start time, total travel period, number of laps, total descent time, accumulated descent altitude change, accumulated ascent, max speed, highest altitude, lowest altitude, slope.

While these are interesting bits of data to the most avid skier, there are other models of National Geographic watches that have the same basic styling, but are designed for hikers, such as the NG701GKSU (black) and NG701GKSR (dark gray), that may be more appropriate for the "average" watch buyer.As an added bonus, those watches have bands that match the case color.

Comparison to the Casio Pathfinder
Relative to the Casio Pathfinder watch, which also has triple sensors, the National Geographic watches seem more sturdily built, and, to my eye, they offer a more pleasing look thanks to the band that flows into the lines of the case.The display uses light letteringon a dark background.This is not as visible as the more typical dark lettering on a light background found on the Casio.The backlight of the Ski Master is anemic.It allows the watch to be used in near or total darkness, but offers very little help in normal lighting conditions.

Summary:
4 out of 5 stars.Great functionality, good style (if you like a yellow wrist band, otherwise go for the GKSK version), and well built.But the somewhat difficult to read display and almost worthless backlight prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

However, the metal band fell apart about the 3rd time I wore it.We gave up on trying to repair it after 3 tries.The company only guarantees the electronics, plus there is a shipping fee to return it, so I didn't bother. There was another review that mentioned that the band had fallen apart, but I ignored that.

I purchased this watch 5 weeks ago from elsewhere - it has been a great Buying experience.I'd Buy it again.I only paid $59.99 for it, and it is still available at that price.

We just got back from Belize and the Blue Hole. It worked GREAT as my backup, allowing me to use it to update my dive log (Max Depth, Bottom Time, min Water Temp), while I left my dive computer/reg and BCD with the dive shop. I never had to press any of its buttons under water, though I am sure that some of them got pressed inadvertently as I moved around - it still works. I got into the habit of parking my gauge/computer under the right side of my BCD, while using quick glances at the watch to check my depth and dive time (to know when the dive master was going to call us to go up to the safety stop). It was wonderful convenience that left both of my hands free, without fear of destroying the coral if my dive computer swung down, etc. I also think that diving hands-free must be safer. It also beeps if you are going up too fast - it can be aggravating at first, but it absolutely taught me good (safe) habit of coming up slower. As such, I'd consider it an absolute MUST HAVE safety equipment for a new diver, not yet used to perfect control of their buoyancy. Every diver who saw it wanted one as soon as they heard the price and functionality. Why ruin an otherwise perfect dive when you can use this and your dive charts (by the book)? My wife loved it as well. Lastly, I wore it for 2 weeks solid while I was awake (and the prior week at the office) - you get used to it (and it helps build up your arm ;-)

I wanted at a minimum to see the time, day and date: wanted a face color that was light so that is was very easy to read while jogging or just at a glance; and wanted a stainless steel band. I preferred a digital read out as well. The issue is that most digital watches are cheap and have a plastic or leather watchband. Several according to the reviews also scratch easily because of a cheap watch lens.

This watch is a sturdy looking and feeling watch. The band is a very nice double clasp. The face is a little large but looks expensive. I think it is very fairly priced. The face color in some pictures looks very turquoise but in most light it is very slightly colored and is near white. I like the color better than a plain white and it adds to easy reading at a glance.

My only minor gripe is that the instructions are at best adequate and come in very tiny print. I had to enlarge them using my all in one home printer. Once you can read them and spend a few minutes trying them out, it is not difficult

I am very pleased with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)I literally spent days looking for the right watch for me. To be honest, buying a watch online is a lot like choosing a mail-order bride. You never really know how one is going to look until you take the plunge and buy it.

I recieved the Citizen BJ2115-07E on 7/1. It is now 7/21 (yes I did just look at the watch I am reviewing to check the date) and I still love this watch. From the second I opened the watch, I have been in love with it.

The watch case is large, but not too large. It is just large enough to be noticed on my wrist, but it doesn't completely engulf my wrist like some fossil watches do. The face of the watch is bold and beautiful without being too complicated. The shimmery, almost pewter-like face catches the light perfectly at every angle, really accenting the elegance of this watch. The blue accents on the watch (to be honest, the main selling point for me) really lend a lot to the watch's overall character.

The one thing I will say about this watch is that it is HEAVY. I'll be honest, when I first started wearing this watch, my wrist was a little sore for the first few days. I personally like the weight of this watch, but others might be a little put off by it. However, by no means is it overwhelmingly heavy. You can still do your work...you'll just know you're wearing this watch. I really enjoy the gurth of this watch when compared to some of the other watches I've worn/tried (an Eric Edelhausen Ganymede which felt like it wasn't even there). I love the weight and look of this watch. In my opinion it really gives off the image of "look at me, I'm a total badass".

I am constantly recieving complements on my watch in the workplace. Even though the band is rubber, the face and case of this watch are so elegant that observers don't seem to notice the band. I was skeptical at first, but over time I've grown to love the rubber watch band. It comes in handy to not have to worry about cleaning the metal/drying the leather after washing your hands or even jumping in the lake/pool.

Overall, Citizen has made a great watch here for the price. Whether you're a diver or not,this is a buy I highly encourage anyone with an interest in this watch to make.

This watch is awesome, first off it plays any MP3 file, up to 320kpbs (not 256 as stated). The watch shows up as a 'thumb drive' and you can add any type of file to it, the order you add the files is the order they play in, which is really cool, as most mp3 players do them alphabetical or some other stupid way. Any file thats not playable, (eg photo, text doc, etc) it just skipps over it, which makes it equally valuable for storing all sorts of docs in addition to your music.
Its very easy to use while working out, cuz you don't have to hold it and if wearing long sleeves, the earphones go up your sleeve and most people don't even know your listening to music.

I recommend this to anybody who wants to listen to a full CDs (3-6) of music, the battery lasts about 9.5hrs.

however, the watch is heavy (50g), and while nobody has even guessed that it was an mp3 watch, it is a bit thick so very skinny people may not look right wearing it, but overall, i can't think of a better implimentation of this, seriously, this is just perfect, the only thing i could ask for is more storage space, but honestly, with a device like this, more then 256mb is just overkill cuz you have to skip each song manually, there is not playlists or lcd.
