Michael asks…
Today, Friday, January 9th, 2009 on the
Travel Channel, around
four thirty I was interested in the place they were
discussing.
How can I find out at least the shows that were playing
around this time, and what would be even better is a list
of the places featured. Thanks
Travel Channel has a TV guide on there and they do it by show. If you remember the host, you can probably find it.
Betty asks…
I’m looking for ideas or connections to help make this idea I have a reality. I heard if you promise to get featured or write an article or something, some channels or magazines will help support your travel adventure. Heard of anyone who has done this? Any idea how to accomplish this? Thanks.
Have you tried contacting these magazines
Maria asks…
Does it pidollarsignrdollarsignr you off that they let other people in on the secret and puts it in danger of becoming a tourist destination?
Dang Samantha on the Travel Channel found one of my secret joints that can only be reached by water or a dirt road. B*tch!
Paula Dean’s restaurant in Savanah GA, is the bomb, it’s called The Lady and Son’s. I would highly recommend it. The little town is a great get away as well.

My friend and I have know for quite some time now, that being the fresh, unique, and entertaining t.v. personalities for the Travel channel, has really become our calling. We are in desperate need of finding and contacting someone with in the media to give us advice or help us out on our endeavors. Anything will be much appreciated! Thank you!
I would go to this link and pitch a short message with your inquiry and hope they contact you back for more info or contact info http://www.travelchannel.com/About/Viewer_Relations

They provide financial/investment advice, accounting/tax services, legal and estate planning all in one for high net worth individuals. All aspects of their finances.
Michael asks…
I’m trying to become wealthy, but feel like I am not meeting the HNW criteria that many banks and institutions are looking for in clients. What companies out there would deal with me (I am looking for solid wealth management and planning advice for myself and my wife)?
I really want to find a firm that isn’t focused on just selling products – I know that there is a commission in this for the advisor and would be happy to buy certain things, but really want advice where they are acting in MY best interest – not making target…
A wealth management service will not help you become rich any more than any other kind of firm, and you don’t become wealthy by entrusting someone else to handle your finances and plan for you. If a private banker sitting behind a desk could do that, why on earth would he be working at that job?
You will always be sold products by all of these firms because that is where they make their money. Some of these products will work out, and some of them will fail miserably, but all of them will put money in your banker’s pocket. So don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything.
As a high net worth client at a private bank, it is an extreme rarity for my banker to suggest anything worthwhile to me. Every investment decision made thus far has come from me. Please believe me when I tell you that you need to educate yourself in these matters, as anyone, especially bankers, will be less interested in giving you a good plan and an education and more interested in keeping you ignorant so that you continue to need their services.
Thomas asks…
i need it mainly for portfolio management…what are the pros and cons of both?
What exactly is a “wealth management team”? What licensing, references, education and track record does the company have? A banker works for the corporation which performs for the stockholders, on a quarterly basis. You need sound financial advice, not the illusion of “wealth management”. If you have wealth which requires management, then there must be trusted, ‘successful’ family friends to whom you can turn for advice.
Edit: Talk to VanGuard or similar company.

How is this job’s pay and prospects?
Wealth management is big in singapore. Singapore has a much larger than average percentage of wealthy people plus most singaporeans are into investing heavily for the future as the government doesn’t give monthly allowances for seniors like some other countries. So singaporeans love buying stocks, shares, insurance policies, etc. The bank interest rates here are so low that people don’t even bother with fixed deposits so much. And who better to help the average joe to manage their money? And if you are good, you get paid a lot. Besides, living in singapore is cheap!!

I looked at the description but it does not reveal much. It pretty much says “on- time delivery, and execution” of strategy. I would like to know what kind of “projects” could be in this particular dept, and also, what exactly or what kind of the strategy in what directions of they are talking about.
Anyone has an idea? Thank you very much for sharing.

I go speed dating quite a bit and always seem to stick to the same questions. Does anyone have any original and clean questions I can ask on speed dating?
What was their most embarrassing moment, guaranteed to start a conversation.
Hope this helps
Mark asks…
I’m talking about more distant friends and acquaintances inquiring about your dating life. I’m newly divorced and I was asked the “How’s single life?” and “Are you dating anyone?’ This is a nosy person and I didn’t feel like sharing anything at all, just a line to deflect the question. Give me some lines to use to not appear annoyed but to redirect the question to their new shoes or their cat or something.
Just tell this person that you are not ready to discuss you’re personal life with any one and you hope she or he will understand.Don’t back down and just keep repeating it.then there is the Standard answer of just fine and leave it at that.
George asks…
i always see a lot of questions coming in singles and dating and 80% of the time the people seem to be moping. I think that people should learn to deal with whatever problems they have themselves because thats what gives them more dating experience and makes them a stronger person do you agree?

There is no quick answer to your question.
Most hospitals have patient representatives that might be able to help since your husband has had a stroke and has limited function. Suggest to him that he ask his patient representative to assist him by contacting the issuer of the retirement check to inquire about the status of his payments. If they are being taken by an unauthorized party, then the issuer can mail them to a new address.
Additionally, a number of social service organizations might be able to help make sure that your husband receives his retirement checks and that they aren’t being sent to someone who isn’t using them specifically for his benefit.
Being in the Phillipines you will be immediately suspect if you try to act on your husband’s behalf. (The first question I had is why are you in the Phillipines when your husband is elsewhere– in the hospital recovering from a stroke?) While you could get a power-of-attorney from him, you will ultimately have a difficult time resolving anything from so far away even if the entitites you deal with are not suspicious of your activities. It would be best for your husband to find local assistance or for you to go to him and help handle his affairs in that locality.

Is there an actual age limit? I’ve read 65, but is that accurate? What if they don’t want to retire at that age, can they continue to work as long as they feel well enough to do so, or do they have to retire and become like a volunteer if they wish to continue being at there place of current work?
65 is the maximum age for retirement in Canada. 55 is the minimum age for retirement in Canada. People who are retired can continue to work if they wish to or Volunteer. But if they put in for an earlier retirement claim, they won’t get the full amount of the money, for claiming earlier.
Richard asks…
Here is the question:
You are helping a friend plan for retirement. She expects to retire at the end of 15 years. She expects to receive annual retirement income for 25 years after she retires. Her first retirement withdrawal will be in the amount of dollarsignr100,000 and will be taken at the end of the 15th year. For the first 5 years of retirement, she wishes her income to keep pace with inflation of 3% per year. After that, for the last 20 years, income will remain constant at the same level as income in the 5th year of retirement. She currently has dollarsignr5,000 in a bank account and expects to receive a bequest of dollarsignr5,000 at the end of 10 years from now. Assume an interest rate of 6.5% per year. How much will she have to save annually if she saves an equal amount from now (t=0) until the end of year 15?
This seems to me like a simple PV calculation, but I don’t know if I have to figure how to save for dollarsignr100,000 at the beginning of retirement or sometihng else. All the information is pertinent
Okay… I did the time value of money calculations on a spreadsheet… I know they can probably be done on a piece of scratch paper with an HP-12c type calculator, but it’s late.
I ended up with her needing to save dollarsignr67,827.89 every year in between now and retirement. I assumed that all withdrawals and deposits were made at the beginning of periods, because it did not state otherwise.
Here was my method:
1. I started by calculating the present value at “Day 1″ of retirement of all her future withdrawals. This amount was dollarsignr1,766,537.06
2. I then calculated the future value of her current savings account and the bequest at retirement “Day 1″ as well. The savings account would be worth dollarsignr12,859.21. The bequest would be worth dollarsignr6,850.43.
3. I netted the present value of all her future cash withdrawals, with the future value of her current nd expected investment.
4. I then calculated the required payment, assuming beginning of the period deposits and 6.5% rate of return, to acquire the shortfall amount of dollarsignr1,746.827.42.
Hence the above answer.
I ran it through year-by-year breakout in excel, and came within .59 cents of being dead broke at the end of her life.
Hope that helps… Let me know what you come up with!

people with good, stable jobs, who are self-employed, like
a dentist, or an orthodontist, or something, if they have
retirement plans now, and to please

If you wish, please state your age (or approximate), and
your occupation.
Well you did not get to many responses – i myself am retired but if i was in the work force as self employed i would have a regular ira which is pre taxed money you can set a side for retirement — and also i would be putting money in a roth ira which is post taxed money — both have the same ground rules for taking out the money– if you want more info you could type self employed retirement plans into search for question and you should be enough info to do a paper — good luck!!!

How many of your relationships started out as pretty good friendship? How many of you dated your best friend, or a very good friend of yours? What was the turning point and how was it after that? How was it physically? Like you guys go from a not very physical relationship, to a very physical one. How did that feel? Kind of awkward? Give me as much information as possible, and your opinions and stuff. Thanks.
Only one, and we’ve been together for 8 years now. It was kind of strange in the beginning and also scary. I thought that if this didn’t work out then we can never be as close as we were as friends. Luckily, it did work out.

I am always trying to relate to the music I listen to. I once read online about different types of relationships—parent-child (where the man looks out for the woman), protector, friendship relationship. I don’t know how to find this online again or what these categories of relationships are, but if someone could tell me or direct me that’s be great.
The word itself, “re” is bind to, or do over. Ship is a container, a way, then what you reference to, whether it be whatever, a soaring eagle, a child, a parent, a love of absorbs into the the being, a memory of whatever, which one are you talking about ? Relationships are endless.

Im good at giving friends relationship advise/helping them through rough patches. But when it comes to my own relationships i don’t go by my own advise and i just mess things up!
Awh this situation happens a lot.. What I usually do is to
keep on calming myself down and try to remind myself with the
advising steps that I keep on telling others about it…
The whole idea is usually circulated over how impatient we
get when we are the one facing the situation…So, try to calm
yourself before pulling up into the situation..It does help..

I have next to zero experience in investing, since I am just out of high school. I have around 2000-4000 dollars I am willing to invest in medium-risk investments. Although I’ve done a bit of research myself, I’d like to get a rundown of what is safe yet shows good growth. I know high-risk would involve small-cap “penny” stocks, while for a safer bet there are Mutual Funds. Yet my cash is limited, and I’m not willing to do anything risky, such as margin accounts for stocks. Can anyone please explain what I should really do with my money for the best growth?
I’m a novice just like you.. But I would recommend you invest it in stocks.. Open an account with Zecco trading and buy 4 lots of stocks totaling 1000 dollars per lot and watch that grow..
You def. Wont lose your money..
Stocks I recommend
AAPL (apple)
DRYS
TBSI
RIMM
Those stocks are sure to grow within the year..

Basically I have very limited knowledge on
stocks and investments. I am unsure on
what elections to choose for my 401K. I am looking for some
easy directions on a good investment and a bad investment.
I have been reviewing the sites for my investment
opportunities and just do not know what I am looking for.
Any help is appreciated
Sorry as I said I have limited knowledge I
am 30. Thanks All
In your 401k, the money sits in a money market account until you make investment decisions. The money market account will, over time, just keep things safe and in place. As for an investment, you would do well to put it all in the S&P500 Index Fund, if they have it, and just forget it. You may also need to make a choice that says each monthly contribution should go to the S&P500 Index Fund. The S&P500 Index has, with dividends and market value, an average annual return of 10% over the last 30 years. I doubt very much that any other choice you have can show that good a record.
The fund represents 500 of the better corporations in America, so you would be fully diversified in just about every business you can think of. You would own railroads, trucking, banks, drug companies, insurance, computers, food, oil, housing, manufacturing, retail stores, mining, aircraft, airlines, glass, paint, hotels, resorts, auto parts, clothing, cosmetics, health care, utilities and on and on. You cannot get any more diversified than that. Again, be sure they know you want contributions to go straight to the S&P500 Index Fund. Make some choices about life style and contribute as much of your paycheck as you can. Over time, this is a good choice and a safe bet for a nice retirement.
Among the companies you would own in the S&P500 fund are Google, Microsoft, Pennys, Radio Shack, Sara Lee, Southwest Airlines, Time Warner, Walt Disney and Wells Fargo. Do a web search on S&P500 companies list for all of them.

India has a billion pluc population, tons of natural resources and arable land, a multi ethnic population, lots of highly educated individuals, and greater democracy than china. However, they are not growing nearly as fast, have a much smalelr export base, getting very limited foreign direct investment, and dosn;t appear to be the emrging power of asia,
Why can’t India replicate the economic success in chian despite the fact its more free and democratic.
Corruption and a complete lack of infrastructure.
China has a lot less corruption and although their infrastructure isn’t great, they have much better infrastructure.
Lets not kid ourselves though… India is the second fastest growing economy in the world…
As for democracy… I wouldn’t say it’s a plus on its own. One party states can work just fine, though democracy is always best in the long run.
A third reason could be:
India was more of a tech sector economy…. Everything was put into getting jobs in the Tech sector. They tried to skip manufacturing
Well, China started off with a manufacturing base and is now moving to the technology sector.
Reality is in India, there are not enough jobs for the people, they didn’t start with manufacturing like China so they are in the process of revisiting manufacturing before moving on to technology.
