People ask about Corvettes and winter driving conditions such as ice and snow and wonder how well the two mix. How well do Corvettes perform on icy roads and does the salt used on the roads really melt the finish off a Corvette (an urban legend).
Well the truth is, I don't really know. Mine never went out on the road during bad weather. (Actually it was very rarely rained on - but now I'm just showing my obsession). The Corvette is really not built to drive in icy weather. Just look around you the next time you drive during icy conditions . . . how many Vettes do you see?
Any rear wheel drive sports car stinks in the snow, Corvette, Porsche, etc. These are not all season cars, but sport cars, designed for dry pavement driving. Unless you live in Florida or southern Texas or California, a Vette should not be your sole means of transportation, instead it is a side toy.
If you're planning on buying or already own a Corvette, do yourself and your Vette a favor and spend about dollarsignr1000 and get an old 4×4 for the nasty days and keep the Vette looking nice. Think of your Corvette as an investment and a show piece. Have an old clunker for just getting around.

Looking to buy a used car over the internet isn't something many individuals would have considered doing, even right up to a few years ago. Things do move on though and in a survey almost 40% of the people asked said they would have no issues at all about buying a used car over the internet. There are some benefits and disadvantages with purchasing cars this way; here is some advice so that you can avoid as many of the disadvantages as possible.
- When you are purchasing online you really should do your homework by investigating the car and the seller. Try to obtain the VIN number of the car itself, and then perform an online search to find info on the person selling the car.
-It goes with reason that anybody trying to sell their vehicle online will do so while trying to paint their car in the best possible light. The good points will always be emphasized, while the bad points not so. As with a lot of things in life, a lot of what isn't actually said is as equally important as what is. Make sure you have a list of questions to ask the seller so that you can be sure that you are getting a good deal.
- Find out the average selling price for used cars of the same type and age. By knowing this information beforehand, if you find the car you are after is valued much higher or much lower than this figure, you'll know to start asking questions.
-Ensure you do all you can to learn as much as you can about the car you will potentially be acquiring. And the internet is very obviously the best place to be doing this research. Search for any criticisms of the car and find out the common things that can go wrong. See, also, if you can find out about the fuel economy of the car.
-If the car you are buying is from a website, see if you can find out any info about this particular site. Try to take many of the testimonials and reviews with a pinch of salt because on some of the lesser known websites their owners have been known to write these themselves. It would be wise to realise also, that any really bad reviews could actually have been written and uploaded by a competitor.
If the time has come for you to be searching out used cars for sale, you may end up much better off by thoroughly researching the cars that interest you. Good research lets you find only the best models available. Once you've finished, you could find youself driving away from the dealers in a used cars southend-on-sea or even a used cars st. albans.
When it comes to vacationing, more people are looking towards vehicle transport companies to help them out with their car issues. For example, you might remember a time when people wouldn't think twice about jumping in the car with their parents to go on lengthy road trips. Back then, these were considered 'cross country" road trip adventures. You would listen to the radio, sing songs and stop at various land marks to snap pictures. Well, while there are some out there who still engage in these types of activities, the overwhelming majority of folks who are interested in vacationing aren't quite as interested in racking up those extra miles on their vehicles.
Just making the drive from some place like North Carolina to some place like New York can tack on an additional 600 miles on your car. This is often the case when I drive home to visit my family from out of state. Considering the fact that I travel back and away to New York quite a bit, it doesn't take long before I'm adding several thousand miles to my vehicle. For example, when I used to own a brand new car, I put close to 20,000 miles on in the first year of owning it!
Vehicle transport comes in handy for those times when you want to give your car a break but you still want the convenience of having it with you wherever you go. The best example of car shipping in action can be seen whenever you see the snowbirds traveling from New York to Florida. These are the people who are usually in their fifties and up who are retirees and are looking to escape the colder winter weather for a while. Unlike taking a vacation, which can last anywhere from several days to several weeks, snowbirds usually own timeshares or condominiums or second homes in other areas of the country that they spend several months in each year. Obviously, the last thing that they would want to do is fly down to their destination only to then have to turn around and rent a car. Could you imagine how much that would cost?!
For this reason, and others, vehicle shipping provides a nice cost effective alternative that allows people to avoid having to deal with traffic, overnight stays in hotels, unexpected roadside emergencies and the like. Instead, they can now hop on a plane and be wherever it is that they have to go in a matter of a couple of hours versus a couple of days.
I had already been stuck in traffic for over fifteen hours, and I swore that the next time I travelled from North Carolina to New York, I was going to have my car shipped with an auto shipping company. A trip that, in the past, had only taken me approximately eight to nine hours had taken twice as long. I felt myself slowly going crazy from moving forward in traffic by inches. And at the end of all of the traffic woes, what was the cause? Construction and people who simply didn't know how to drive. Not only this, but my air conditioning had just stopped working, therefore, I was promptly starting to feel pretty heated up about the situation at hand . If I had initially thought about using an auto shipping service, not only would I have avoided this traffic nightmare, but I would've been to New York in an hour.
People use auto shipping companies for a wide variety of reasons , and I can guarantee you that most of them don't do it simply to avoid the traffic jams on the Interstates. Rather, auto shipping is quite appealing because of how affordable it is. The trick to finding auto shipping that works for you is to find a vehicle transport company that you can trust . In order to get started, you should first take your search to the Internet. There you will find that there are tons of websites and blogs belonging to various auto transport companies. So, what separates one from the other. Pay attention to how well the site is maintained, how it looks and its ease of use.
Vehicle transport companies are dependable and care about their customers will provide all of the information that you could ever possibly want to know about vehicle shipping in such a way that it is easy to understand as well as access. In most cases, a reputable auto shipping company will provide you with free instant rate quote forms somewhere on their website, which (once filled out) will give you a better idea as to how much you can actually expect to pay once you utilize their services.
Another option that is tried and true involves talking to your friends and family members. Perhaps you know of a co-worker or neighbor who has just moved into the area and needs a little guidance on where to shop. In exchange, you can ask him or her what auto transport company they used!
Recently the question arose about what would be the best, but most economical aftermarket mods for a C5 Corvette. (Actually he said what would be the cheapest performance enhancing mods for a C5.) After some good natured ribbing about nothing being cheap on a Corvette the general consensus was to improve the cars breath-ability.
Modification of a Corvette engine by using performance parts follows the basic philosophy of general automotive performance. "The more air in, the more air out, as fast as possible" is a good general rule of thumb to follow when modifying the performance of a Corvette.
So with that in mind, the first modification should be air intake. A Vararam Cold Air Intake - with K & N filter would be the intake of choice and you can purchase one between dollarsignr 350 to dollarsignr 400.
The next mod would be the exhaust. You need a shop that is VERY knowledgeable with Vettes. Otherwise what you'll have is a mess. Corsa or Borla would be your best bet. Expect to pay anywhere from dollarsignr 900 to dollarsignr 1,400 for a new exhaust system and then the expense of installation.
The best mods are those that make the car breathe better. And changing the intake and exhaust will increase performance without significantly decreasing the size of your wallet.

The second generation of Corvette was ushered in with the unveiling of the 1963 Corvette and the sweeping changes made. Arguably the most significant changes ever made to the Corvette. The biggest question is which changes were the biggest.
From the aerodynamic changes in style to the independent rear suspension, the changes in the Corvette could not have been more radical. Without a doubt the most talked about and novel idea of the Corvette was the reverse rotational flip up headlights, which would remain a Corvette feature until the 2005 models.

It seems like we've waited forever . . . so when
will the new C7 Corvettes be released? Insider sources have
revealed that the C7, which was originally planned to be introduced
in 2012 for the 2013 model year, has been delayed and will likely
not be released before 2014. In fact, Sports Cars Fans blog reports the C7 has been
put on indefinite hold.
Bill Connell over at the Corvette Blog says GM may not be as bullish on Corvette as once thought. With the federal government bailout, we may not see the changes we hoped for.
Well I suppose we'll take what we can get . . .
What are the differences between the
2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe?
Are these differences significant or are we simply buying a fancy
name?
There are a number of differences, no matter how subtle, that add up to the Z06 being quite a bit more automobile than the regular coupe. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not casting stones at the Coupe, it's a great automobile. But the topic here is the differences - and now they are not simply the Z06 logo and the higher price tag.
First, The Z06 has a higher horsepower and torque rating . . . in other words, the Z06 is faster. The base coupe and convertible Corvettes come with a 6.0-liter LS2 V8, rated at 400 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. But the Z06’s 427-cubic-inch engine comes with a stunning 505 hp and 470 lb-ft from its 7.0-liter LS7 V8 - in other words, the Z06 is greased lightening.
Not only is the top speed, horsepower and torque rating different, the z06 is built around the racing suspension and it's unique aluminum frame. The z06 is the top of the line for corvette, with it’s recognizable Z06 logo and the air dam located on the rear; while the coupe, though great, is more like a base model.
Yes, the Z06 is a serious car, it is capable of being an everyday car or one to use on the track, it goes up to 200 mph, as verses the coupes 180 mph of the coupe, and uses a manual transmission with optional paddle shifters for easier shifting. The brakes are bigger and better on the Z06 as well, the suspension is race tuned and overall it’s a much better car. It has a heads up display with a g meter and everything.
All in all, though the Coupe is a great car, there is little doubt the Z06 is the superior automobile. If you're in market for either a Coupe or a Z06 you can find a great deal here at America's Sportscar, but if you have the money - go for the Z06.
