(More customer reviews)I bought this at WalMart about five years ago.The thing is still going strong!I didn't expect much from a $30 trimmer but I really can't complain about this one.

The line will get stuck now and then--I've gotten really good at rethreading as needed.Most of the time I can get through an hour of trimming with only a couple of stops for that reason.I once bought cheap line and restrung the spool myself but really it's worth the $6 to buy the preloaded spool.It tends to have fewer problems than my own line attempts.

The unit is super lightweight and easy to handle.It cuts through everything I throw at it (sometimes throws it back!Wear your safety glasses) and I find the bumping feed easy to use.I can "edge" easily along my drive and sidewalks, too.

I have gotten tired of hauling the cords around now that I have yard that requires a couple hundred feet of them, so I'm in the market for another type of trimmer.I figured gas was the way to go but I was really frustrated when I borrowed a nice $200 4-cycle one from a friend.I had issues starting it, the line became jammed more than on my little Weed Eater, the vibration was extreme, it was heavy, and the messing around that goes along with gas and oil didn't seem worth it.I didn't save time not having the cords there, which was the whole point, and it jammed so badly I just finished with my little electric Weed Eater.I'm looking into a cordless style now... but I won't get rid of the old standby!

It took me a couple of hours to learn how to use the bobbin winder and the thread cassette the instruction book is written with pictures and describes everything step by step I found it very easy to use. I also love the fact of being able to use it with or without the foot pedal my last one I was constantly chasing it around the floor, its nice just to reach up and stop or start it with a button the same with the needle just push a button.I'm looking forward to all the built in stitches that are there and mosts of all its light and easy to handle and I sat it on a wooden tray table to try it out and there was no vibrations and its so quiet. I know I will get hours of enjoyment from this machine. I've sewed for along time and on all kinds of machines but I'm sure a beginner can learn to use it if you can use a computer you can use this

(More customer reviews)What makes this product so attractive is that by connecting it to a computer you can get an endless amount of embroidery designs. It is also a full feature sewing machine.
I bought this item for my wife's birthday. It does everything that is advertised. The sewing functions are straight forward, and everything worked as it should.
The embroidery isn't as staight forward. The instructions are very poor, and limited. Although I have to admit, that I figured most of it out fairly quickly. The embroidery is slow, and of course you have to change thread for every color change in your pattern. The designs came out looking good. I also downloaded some free designs from other sites, and they worked just as well.
My problem with this machine is two fold. The one we bought broke after only a few hours of use. It was a minor problem. The bobbin holder had a crack where the tension screw goes in. At first everything was fine, but within a few hours the thread started catching in the crack until it was unusable. I'm sure that this won't be a problem for most customers.
The second problem is much more severe in my opinion. No one has parts for the machine, and it's near impossible to even get a parts list. One item that doesn't come with the machine that my wife wanted was a zipper foot. The part number for that item was listed in the book, but when I went to find it, absolutely no one had it. I even wrote Singer's part's department, and they wrote back telling me to call.
It's a neat machine. As long as you get one that works, and aren't concerned about parts availability, I don't think you can find a better ebroidery machine for less money.

Kenmore Serger Sewing Machine Review

I bought this serger a few months back.It took over an hour to thread.The documentation was brief and poor, without giving a thorough explanation of the machine's operations.Granted it was my first serger experience, but it entailed having to call the folks at Kenmore to have a service specialist call me back and talk me through another 45 minutes.The serger does not come with basic accessories, such as a looper threader, that really is needed for this model.

Then there was the DVD.The first 15 minutes were on threading the machine.After that, you discover all the neat things that the machine can do if you buy an assortment of presser feet or attachments.This got me so disgusted that I started looking for another serger and returned the Kenmore to Sears. And it must be said that all of this really surprised me, since I've been sewing for 30 years and have always been pleased with the quality of Kenmore machines.

Anyway, through online research, I saw that the Sewing-with-Nancy E-Z Lock machine is a much better value for your money. So I bought it and can say that:
- Its documentation is thorough enough to talk you through threading, though this machine's design makes the process easier.
- Attachments mentioned in the other DVD are included
- There is an accessory box with lots of goodies, including extra serger blades
- A handle (surprisingly missing on the Kenmore)
- It allows for two needle stiches

Supplement it with Nancy Zieman's serger book to give even more ideas.

(More customer reviews)This is a fairly nice embroidery machine for the price.It does have a few things I don't like but overall I am glad that I purchased it.The embroidery designs sew out beautifully!And getting a machine that you can hook directly to your pc is definately the way to go! It elimanates pricy design disks and cards.You can find lots of great desings on the web to purchase and download to use on this machine plus it accepts many formats.What I don't like about the embroidery aspect is the fact that the large hoop is not a true 5X7.So I have to resize a lot of my designs to fit the hoop.I really wish they offered a larger hoop as an extra accessory!The digitizing software that comes with the 200 is not that spectacular.You can take simple clipart pictures and turn them into embroidery but nothing too complex and the software dosen't allow you to make appliques.I think you can get better digitizing software elsewhere.It also only comes with 2 fonts: courier and block.You can purchase a disk with extra fonts but the disks for this machine are expensive! I think they run around $200.The sewing part of this machine I rarely use mostly because I have a Euro Pro sewing machine that I sew on and comparing the 2 I am all for the Euro Pro hands down.This machine seams to sew a little "rough" in comparison.Overall I think this is a Great starter embroidery machine at a good price.

I researched machines for a few weeks, and being a single girl in my early 20's, I didn't have much money to spend on one. So the Vikings that run you thousands of dollars were out of the question.
I read all the reviews on the 350 I could find. It was about half positive, half negative. I found a really good deal (machine, thread, bobbins, stabilizer, and all 5 software programs for $1,000) and decided that it was affordable for me, and since I'm new to embroidery I didn't need something really fancy anyway. Most of the bad reviews were about the error message popping up saying the thread is broke. Being an experienced and avid seamstress, I decided they must be threading it wrong or just using cheap, thin thread that's not meant for embroidery machines.
The first embroidery pattern I did was with the tutorial that came with my machine. It was so easy to do, and came out looking really good!
The next few patterns I did were also stock designs. Again, they looked okay. I got the error message about the thread breakage 50,000 times or so though. I'd check the bobbin, rethread the top, do everything I could think of, and a few stitches later it would beep at me again with the error message. I decided I was doing something wrong, read the manual front to back several times, looked up tutorials and discussion boards on the internet, everything. I have it down to a T. And still, it flashes the error.
But that's just where the trouble began.
After the 6th or 7th pattern I made, the machine turned to junk. It started ripping my fabric, skipping whole sections of stitching, the tension would go from way too tight (hence the fabric ripping) to way to loose, and loops would be left all over. I tried using every tension option, changed the needle to every weight and style, changed the stabilizer weight, changed thread brands and weights, changed fabrics......you name it, I did it. And the tension was still off. And my fabric was still being ripped.
Part of the reason I decided on this model was because it hooks up to your computer, and you can download your own images and designs. Let me tell you. NONE of the images I have made myself have turned out. And it's not because I'm doing something wrong or they simply aren't good embroidery patterns. Even simple two color designs don't work. The stitches ofthe two colors don't overlap at all, which causes gaps were there aren't supposed to be any. And then the fabric tears there. I've even contacted support about this, and they've walked me through all the steps.

Simply put, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MACHINE!! Even if it works at first, the tension will be thrown off through no fault of your own, and you can spend days, weeks trying to fix it. But it won't fix. These machines are either just cheaply made, or they are defective and need to be recalled. I can't even use my machine anymore- the stitches are so uneven and ugly, if they are even there at all.

Don't be fooled by any of the positive reviews like I was- if you could talk to those same people now that they've had their machine for awhile and used it, they'd have the same tension, skipped stitch, and error complaints that the rest of us do.
Worst purchase ever.

(More customer reviews)The Little Gracie II Machine Quilting Frame is a marvelous, sturdy, easy to construct frame for home machine quilting.It takes time and patience but all parts are clearly labeled and it comes with both a guidebook and a DVD.Watch the DVD first to get a great overview.Now, The Janome part is another story:It is advertised in this package as the machine to use for quilting on this frame, which needs major clarification.It does not have a feed dog lowering feature so extra parts are needed which should come with the machine in order to make it work.There was only a straight foot and a hemmer in the Janome package (figure those for free form machine quilting??).The Janome siteis not clear in reference to support; in fact when contacting them they told me to go to a local dealer.There are no other guidelines for use other than the basic plug it in, thread it booklet, no accessories information, etc.I would buy the Little Gracie II by itself and find myself another long-arm quilting machine if I had it to do over for purchase. However, the support from Amazon has been great in helping me obtain the foot needed to make this system work as it should have as advertised.

I think that this combo sewing/embroidery machine is a great value!I have had zero problems with my machine and really love it.I have used many of the decorative stitches included in the HE-120.I have been very sucessful in digitizing my own designs on Embroidery Magic 2, converting the format to PES, transferring the design to the Brother card on PED-BASIC.My friends and family love the designs I have made on clothing, pillows, shams, aprons, etc. Using this machine.I find it easy to use.The only thing that didn't work well at first, are the thread cassettes.But I found an easy solution when researching this on the internet. When loading the cassette at step 6 on the cassette pull the thread straight up when loading the cassette.It works and I shared it with you.So my major problem with this machine when away.If you are looking to try embroidery but also want to upgrade your old sewing machine, I can recommend this one to you.I am going to continue to develop my embroidery skills and then I will keep this machine for sewing, and look for a "just embroidery" machine with a larger embroidery area as my next step.

(More customer reviews)After considerable research, we decided to get this sewing machine for our 9-year old daughter.We feel this is the best low-cost sewing machine for the money.Although many of the components are plastic, the machine is sturdy and well made.It includes a foot-pedal, does not require batteries, and closely resembles the basic features and shape of a traditional $100+ sewing machine.I only give this item four stars because there is no light.

After helping our daughter select the proper thread and tension adjustment, she has made several hats, skirts, and so on.We have also found that no matter how cheap or expensive a sewing machine is, there are going to be problems if it is your first time at sewing.Many people don't realize that there is a fair amount of knowledge and skill required to make ANY sewing machine stitch properly.If you can't get your sewing machine to stitch properly it is most likely tension setting, thread selection, etc..

(More customer reviews)This machine is made in China and comes with no instructions.There is a cryptic chart pasted to the top of the machine.I was able to figure out the threading sequence, but the throat plate was loose.There are no instructions for positioning the throat plate.It seems to need the needle holder and presser foot removed in order to reposition the throat plate, but the screw holding them is so soft it will not unscrew without destroying the fitting.

The drop in bobbin has a little chart for the correct alignment of the thread: counterclockwise or clockwise.xor o.What does that mean?Is it + or 0?
I have no idea.

I have searched in vain on line for instructions for this machine without success.

If you take a tape measure to your faucet, it will appear to be about 1 inch, but is still called 3/4" Garden Hose Thread.The Hose Bibb Lockout (Water Faucet Lock) is a hose bibb locking system comprised of two parts, a threaded section with a rotating flange, and a smooth cover with a slot for the flange. The rotating flange has a hole to accept the lock. To lock a hose, screw the threaded section onto the hose bibb (faucet), place the cover over top with the flange on the threaded section protruding through the slot of the smooth section, and place your lock through the hole. The lock now prevents removal of the smooth section. At this point, when the smooth section is rotated, it only turns the rotating flange of the threaded section; consequently, the threaded section cannot be removed without removing the lock. It is designed for padlocks with shackle diameter of 9/32" or 1/4".
