(More customer reviews)This phone is
GREAT!! I wear glasses and have low vision, but do not need one of
those giant BIG button phones, well this phone is superb, the
buttons are big, but not too huge. heck, they look normal size to
me, not so teeny-tiny like all the phone makers are making them
nowadays lol. and that is what i was looking for. the 2nd plus, is
that you can actually cleaarly read the caller i.d. area, it too,
is larger. thirdly, as an extra bonus, the audio on the phone is
adjustable. i'm not hard of hearing yet, i'm only 49, but do have
one ear that is better than the other. well now i can adjust the
volume to fit both ears comfortably.all in all, this is a superb
phone and i heartily recommend it!

Uniden EZI996 900 MHz Extended Range Cordless
Telephone
Product Description:
If you're missing calls because you can't hear the phone ring, and
if you don't find much comfort in those annoying (and tiny)
blinking lights that aren't much help from across the room,
consider the Uniden EZI-996. The practical design helps solve a
number of problems for users with minor sight or hearing
challenges.
Two large red lights on the base indicate when the phone is ringing
and when you have a voicemail message--and they're large enough to
see more clearly from a distance. A belt clip is included, so you
can keep the handset with you as you walk around the house. You can
also keep your hearing aid connected and wear the handset
comfortably at your waist. Separate controls adjust the ringer and
the handset volume, and a handset indicator sound helps you locate
the unit if you've lost it in the couch cushions. The keypad is
backlit and has large buttons, making it easier to see when
dialing.
The EZI-996 operates with a reliable 900 MHz transmission and
tried-and-true analog technology. With subscription to service
through your local phone company, the 30-station caller ID tracks
your recent calls and returns them at the touch of a button. A
separate 10-station memory stores your most frequently dialed
numbers, with a one-touch dial for an emergency contact. Uniden
includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
What's in the Box
Base, cordless handset, AC adapter, battery, battery cover,

(More customer reviews)I was a desktop
owner for over 6 years. This is my first laptop, but I did a lot of
research before deciding on this one and I am overall very happy
with the purchase.
I really love the new processor, is is very quiet and the laptop is
much cooler, although I still use a cooling fan and recommend one.
The keyboard is flat and quiet, but is prone to trapped dust and
particles and super hard to clean, so don't eat or take this around
food. I recommend the specially made for this laptop silicone
keyboard covers, Sony offers them in a variety of nice colors
including matching mouse covers for Sony mouses only. Another great
feature is the blu-ray player, and lit LCD screen, I wish they
would have included a light up keyboard and fingerprint pass-code
device. The laptop itself is lightweight, sleek and shiny, but the
attractive finish is also very prone to fingerprints and beware!
don't wipe with any alcohol as it will damage the finish.
Windows 7 is a great improvement, I love the convenient and much
faster start search tool and the customization options are wide
(important for a artist and visual person like myself), but there
is still a whole lot of room for improvement as far as security
issues are concerned.
Positive+
Intel i3 Core processor
500GB/4GB space
Bright, light up LCD screen
Energy Star approved
Blu Ray player
Sleek and lightweight
Keyboard and mouse customization options
Windows 7
Negative-
Although it's much cooler than all my friends laptops, it still
requires a fan
Very much prone to fingerprints on exterior and screen, use only
cloth to wipe
No outer volume buttons/controls
3, not 4 usb spaces
Keyboard prone to trap small particle
No light up keyboard
No fingerprint password logon

(More customer reviews)I tutored a 9th
grader who owned this model. When I first tried to look up a word
and needed to scroll down I couldn't figure it out, but that was
with no manual and 2 minutes of examination.Shortly after that I
purchased the Spanish English version by Franklin for myself -
exact same layout - I READ the MANUAL - the up down scroll is on
the side of the unit - left of the screen - not on the keyboard
portion of the Spanish/English one. That scroll button is quite
functional.Don't let the previous review dissuade you from
purchasing this item. The only thing I can say about it is that with
only 100,000 words its use becomes less valuable the older you are
and the greater your vocabulary - you have to remember that the
words a, the, an, it, he, she, etc. are part of that 100k.Would
definitely recommend to high school students and below.Hope that
helps.

GE G1 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
(Silver)
Product Description:
GE's most compact camera is big on performance, proving once again
that great things come in small packages. The camera boasts an
ultra-slim body that measures a mere 3.62 by 2.5 by 0.82 inches (W
x H x D), yet still delivers an ultra-sharp 7-megapixel resolution.
The 3x optical zoom and 4.5x digital zoom, meanwhile, combine to
capture superior close-ups whether displayed on a computer screen
or printed out on your photo printer. And users will love the
vibrant 2.5-inch LCD screen, which makes it easy to frame your
subject and review your images, with a resolution of 153,600 pixels
ensuring a crisp image every time. Plus, users aren't restricted to
still images, as the G1 takes MPEG4 movies as well.
Packed inside the A730's sleek and stylish body are several editing
functions and shooting modes, including in-camera panoramic
stitching, red-eye removal, face-tracking, electronic
stabilization, multiple scene modes (sports, children, indoor,
snow, sunset, etc.), and continuous shooting. In addition, there's
no shortage of playback options, ranging from single photo to
slideshow to histogram display. Powered by a rechargeable
lithium-ion battery (included), the G1 even includes an SD/SDHC
memory card slot that's expandable up to 4 GB. You'll be hard
pressed to find a more feature-rich camera in such a small housing.
Best of all for beginners, the G1 offers a simple, intuitive
interface that's a breeze to navigate.
Other details include a macro mode (5cm to infinity); 26 MB of
internal memory; support for PictBridge-compatible printers; a USB

(More customer reviews)While there is much
I really like about this camera, its short comings prevent me from
recommending it to people who want just one video camera. The
problems I am experiencing deal mostly with the camera's POOR
performance in medium to low light conditions. While many camcorders
excel at producing images in standard room lighting, this camera
does a dismal job.In normal room lighting the auto focus will
occasionally fail and even at the best of the times the images lack
adequate saturation. The manual white balance settings improve the
situation only marginally. If you are going to be shooting inside
your house, use another camcorder.
Now the upside - the camcorder delivers good quality images when
shooting outside.Motion artifacts are occasionally detectable when
objects in the scene move quickly but not annoying at all.The zoom
is quite satisfying and the auto focus only lags slightly behind
when quickly zooming in the 10x optical zoom range. The compact size
is spectacular! The standard tripod mount socket is a welcome
addition.
And, of course, the whole video editing experience is greatly
enhanced by the direct transfer of the camera's hard drive to your
editing station's hard drive.(I recommend you get a card reader or
PCMCIA adapter, so the camera isn't involved in the video
transfer. You can be charging the camera while you are working with
the saved video - something you'll do often as the battery only
lasts an hour).
The saved video files have a .mod extension. The manual says you
should only use the supplied software to edit/play the video
files. The supplied software is from Cyberlink and it is adequate.I
have found that by renaming the files to .mpg after I have copied
them to my editing station, I can edit/play the video files with
software not supplied with the camera.Don't know if this will work
in all cases, but so far so good.
The still camera images are actually quite nice for a 2 mega pixel
camera. They are always saved as JPEG files.I have found no option
to save as a lossless TIFF.A real shame since the supplied 4GB
microdrive really has enough room to store these big files.
The audio quality is excellent, no complaints what so ever.
One last disappointment - the camera limits maximum file size to
4GB, even if you have a compact flash card that can hold more.As a
result it shall forever be impossible for this camera to record
more than 60 continuous minutes using the highest quality video
setting.Sure, an 8GB card can hold 2 of these 60 minute recordings
but something will be missed when the first file hits the 4GB wall
and the recording is stopped and the camera waits for you to
manually start a new recording session.

JVC Everio GZMC200 2MP 4GB Microdrive Camcorder
w/10x Optical Zoom
Product Description:
Still images or video--capture either 60 minutes of DVD-quality
MPEG-2 movies or thousands of super-high resolution UXGA-size JPEG
pictures with the Everio--the first camera to use Microdrive
technology. The included 4GB Microdrive card, though it is the same
size as Compact Flash card, has such unprecedented capacity because
it is has its own built-in HDD (hard disk drive).
The completely tapeless Microdrive format lets you
choose higher video quality or longer shooting
times. Store more photos than you ever
thought possible on the included 4GB Microdrive
card.
Until now, tapeless formats have been severely limited in the
length and quality of video capacity, but the Everio's Microdrive
lets you shoot up to 60 minutes of high quality MPEG-2 video--and
even more in lower resolution modes.A selection of recording modes
lets you choose more quality or more shooting time. The highest
quality ULTRA mode records at a constant bit rate of 8.88 Mbps with
AC 3 audio -- comparable to the DVD data rate (average 4 Mbps
video/9.8 Mbps maximum). Essentially what you get is DVD quality,
with the same video and audio format as a movie DVD. And the number
of still photos that will fit on the Microdrive card is nothing
less than awe-inspiring: More than 5000 of the highest resolution
images (1600x1200 fine).
2.12 Megapixel CCD
This 1/3.6" CCD with a total of 2.12 million pixels (effective:
1.23 million for moving pictures, 2 million for still pictures)
offers the high resolution capabilities needed for high quality
digital videography and photography. And the Megabrid Engine
applies separate, optimized processing to moving and still images,
for videos with a high signal-to-noise ratio, and high-resolution
still pictures.
Versatile, Lossless Data
Store what you've shot on the provided Microdrive card, optional
CompactFlash or SD Memory Cards. size as a CompactFlash card, but
with many Gigabytes of capacity. You can eject the Microdrive card,
just as you would a CompactFlash or SD Memory Card, and load data
into your PC via optional card adapter. Or simply connect the
camera via its USB2.0 interface for quick downloading to a PC. All
transfer is digital-to-digital, so you won't lose any quality in
the process.
DVD Creation & Sharing
Three advanced applications are provided:
Power Producer offers easy saving (authoring) of your
video clips in any order to DVD, even right from a USB-connected
camera, so you can share your original DVDs with anybody who owns
a DVD player.
Power Director offers feature-rich non-linear editing so
you can flex your creative muscle with titles, effects, and even
mix still with videos.
Power DVD for easy video clip and DVD playback with AC 3
audio.
Multi-Format Support
In addition to making it easy to create DVDs, the supplied software
converts to a variety of file formats for distribution via the Web
or by e-mail. Supported formats include DV-AVI, Windows-AVI, MPEG-1
and MPEG-2, as well as Windows Media Video and RealVideo that can
be streamed over the Internet.

(More customer reviews)I gotta say, I
bought this thing thinking that I would probably just use it to
store numbers and play MP3's.I've owned the old Palm Pilot
Original, the Palm V, and now this Clie.I must say that the Clie
simply blows everything else out of the water. It's like a mini
computer! I can view pictures, PDF's, XLS, DOC with the bundled
software. The screen resolution is really awesome.
I've found myself taking it wherever I'm going (which is the point
of a PDA!!!). This never happened before with my older PDA's
because they were simply calendars and phonebooks... I enjoy having
the camera on me at random times.Taking a little picture of my
favorite dish at a restaurant or capturing a great picture of my
dog at the park. Those are times you always wished you had brought
your digicam but never had it on you!
The DECUMA input sucks... you need to write really neatly and
separate e a c hl e t t e rso that it knows what you're talking
about.I much prefer Graffiti 2.Graffiti 2 is soooo much cooler than
Graffiti 1 that I have been using previously.BUT best of all, this
thing has a QWERTY keyboard. I cannot stress how much nicer it is
to use the QWERTY.I haven't used the stylus much at all. Most of my
inputs are now a process of using my fingertip and then using the
keyboard.It REALLY is much faster.
I also enjoy the fact that the thing doesn't have to boot up to get
to the digicam or the voice recorder. One click of either button
and the unit automatically snaps to the application you are
requesting.I am enjoying taking oral notes with the voice record
feature when I'm on the go and don't have time to type.
Overall, I'd suggest that you also check out the NX80 due to the
better camera.I think I'll buy an NX80 eventually, but right now,
for the price, the 73V does exactly what I need without costing TOO
much.

(More customer reviews)Just one week after
I buy this notebook from Amazon, the price falls by $27 and Amazon
refuses to match the price drop. Quite disappointing in that
regard. I ordered this on a Wed, Amazon shipped on Sunday and it
arrived on Tuesday with free shipping. So that was good.
On to the notebook. First the pros:
Build quality is good and it feels expensive compared to most sub
$500 note/netbooks.
Large keys on the keyboard while not as spacious as a regular
keyboard works better than than those from Acer that use the
chicklet size keys. One of the reasons why I chose this over the
Acer Timeline series.
Screen is bright and sharp.
Small compact and lightweight since it doesn't have a built-in DVD
drive (uses an external drive). Design looks clean and modern with
none of that clunky look from the low end Lenovos or Toshibas.
Uses Vista 64 bit edition
Has HDMI port to plug into HDTVs
Dedicated graphics processor and memory.
Now the cons:
Battery life is average 2-3 hours
Uses single core AMD Athlon Neo processor which is underpowered for
Vista. There're occasional lags when running basic things like
browsers, Word, etc. The CPU is maxed out at 100% most times.
The initial applications and drivers installed seem to make the
notebook run really slow. I tried to watch videos on Hulu.com and
they were jerky and slow. After installing updated video drivers
and IE8 and Firefox, it worked better. Strange for a notebook
professing to be an "Entertainment" notebook to be that bad at
video until the drivers were updated. Despite the dedicated
graphics processor and memory, video performance is just average
and can a bit slow at times.
Bloatware. There are several but not too bad.
HP MediaSmart: this is pretty useless since the notebook already
has Windows Media Center. The software itself is nothing great and
eats up additional memory and CPU cycles.
Bottom line: This notebook is just barely able to run Vista 64
since the CPU is underpowered. It's a compromise between a full
blown notebook and netbook since it has a decent size hard drive
and screen. To make it perform better, you'll have to remove all
the bloatware and unnecessary applications, and download the latest
software updates and drivers. I'll be upgrading to Win 7 when it
arrives so hopefully, that'll improve the performance further. Also
probably look into upgrading the 2gb ram to 4gb.

(More customer reviews)I've had this
camcorder about a month, I got it as a gift for my 40th, I chose
it.
Pros: Under good lighting it produces wonderful video, great sound.
I love the menu system (though the LCD needs constant cleaning).
The weight is just right, not too heavy for long use, not so light
that it feels unstable.
Cons: Not great under low light conditions such as dimmed room
lights; the picture goes grainy and red. I also noticed a bit of
wind noise from the internal mic. Short battery life. I had
problems with the drivers for the USB under windows XP, never
bother to fix this as I bought a firewire card.
All things considered, I'm very happy with the camcorder.

(More customer reviews)I bought this
camera wanting some control and great zoom with, at least moderate
picture quality. What turned me on most was the fact that I didnt
have to buy and carry around another lens to get "closer" to the
object I wanted to capture.I havent owned many SLR cameras but, I
have to say this is easily the best camera I have ever owned.I
thought for the price, I would just be getting a mediocre camera
with marginal picture quality at best, but I was pleasently
mistaken. This camera takes great pictures with incredible detail. If
you do not know anything about apurature, and how to generally
opperate an SLR camera this is the camera you should seriously look
into.It is fully automatic. It will sellect the best settings for
the light and focus for you with only a push of a button. If your a
control freak, dont worry, you have that option as well. You can
sellect a manual setting that will give you total control. The zoom
is unbelievable, and the camera is well balanced. For the price, you
cant beat it!Ive really enjoyed taking pictures with this
camera.Enjoy!

(More customer reviews)Well, let's start
by the basics. This machine is HUGE by any means if you compare it
to any other PDA. It's like, well, the Darth Vader of all the Palm
Powered devices. It's black, it's menacing, it's all-powerful. You
can stun an attacker with it if you whirl it over your head and hit
him (it includes a convenient hand strap for that purpose).
Jokes aside, it is well built (i used to have a Clie NR70V and it
was very fragile), the hinges and swivels are tight, it won't open
inside your backpack and get all scratched inside.
It is also a nice PDA, with all the useful stuff that any common
handheld has. (Memo, Agenda, Address, To Do, Whatever). But it
excels on the add-ons. That's the best part.
The digital camera is awesome (autofocus/manual focus, flash, 2.0
MP) and it can store hundreds of pictures. There are many options
and settings to play with.
It also has audio recorder software. The sound is crisp, clear, and
you can record many, many, many hours of speech, enviromental audio
or anything.
As any other Clie, it has its own mp3 player. There's no need to
buy the special SONY smartmedia card to use it: a Lexmark
alternative will do the trick.
Of course, if you combine audio + pictures, you'll get a video
camera. It works as one. Not great quality, it might be compared
with having a webcam with you all the time.
What else ? Integrated keyboard, speaker, remote control, a couple
of headphones, infrared port.
I can even speak about Bluetooth. I don't have any bluetooth gear
in my house, but i'm leaving the wake-up option enabled and see if
i find any BT devices in my office. Besides the blinking blue led
looks cool :).
It has many improvementes since the last Clie versions. The memory
stick has changed its place, so it doesn't flip out every time you
put it in your pocket. The craddle is now foldable and you can take
it everywhere to charge and/or connect your clie. You can even
attach it to the PDA and carry it around.
Even when it is bulky, it is very well built and with a nice
eequilibrium... you can hold it in your hand and it won't fall
easily. That happened with the NR70V: the screen was heavier than
the body, so it fell backwards always.
The keyboard is a lot better and easier to use by now. Also the
back button has been moved a little and it's easier to use than
before.
The camera doesn't rotate anymore... but i didn't miss the feature,
since you can still use it in the open or closed form, to take
pictures of yourself or others.
I would complain only about few things:
- The pen is thin ! It looks thinner compared to the huge agenda.
And it has a very weird way to attach to the PDA.
- The picture browsing is waaaay slow. I'll better find a better
program to handle the pictures.
- I can't recall anything else, but i'm sure that there were some
things that bothered me. Ah ! The memory !!! Yes. That's upsetting:
you see, there are 16 Mb of RAM but you can access only 11 of them.
Why ? I don't know. However the better use of the memory stick
features compensates the lack of actual memory. I would have
expected at least 64 Mb RAM for a beast like this. Well, let's say
it's 4 and a half stars. Oh, the price !!! Wait a little until it
drops. But even now it's worth every cent. For a journalist is the
perfect tool. And for a physician (who i am) too.
- And, it might seem crazy, but i find this size more comfortable
for me than before. I don't think of it as a PDA, instead i think
of it as a pocket sized notebook.

(More customer reviews)I am writing this
as someone who is not a true videophile, but who nonetheless pays
some critical attention to picture quality and ease of use. I have
no interest in making any videos other than reasonable quality
family videos. I have owned a SD miniDV camera for 7 years before
buying this one. The picture quality was observed on a Sony SXRD
60" HDTV using component cables. I didn't have the HDMI cable with
the mini connector to try out a digital connection.
I bought this camera last week and tried it out during a Memorial
Day trip with the family. The picture quality is extremely good.
It's not quite as good as a top-notch HD feed (such as Discovery
HD), but appears to me to be equal to most HD channels we receive
over Comcast cable. Another poster said the quality is not much
better than DVD, but for me this is clearly not the case--it's
*much* better than DVD. Although in some detailed reviews online
there are still images showing interlace artifacts, in viewing
running video I have been unable to notice any effects of
interlacing at all, even in fast-moving objects. Pans work well,
with no objectionable artifacts or lagging. For outdoor scenes the
picture is really stunning. Indoors at night, with ordinary light
levels, the picture is not as good, with a graininess that is
especially apparent on objects with a smooth texture, such as
painted walls. Still, the picture is acceptable to me.
The camera has lots of features, mostly accessable from its
touchscreen display. However, you can set the camera in "easy"
mode, which selects a reasonable set of default settings. I confess
that's the only mode I used, and the results were impressive. As I
learn more about the camera I may fiddle with more advanced
settings.
The camera can also take decent still photos, not up to par with a
good digital camera but perfectly acceptable for when you don't
want to lug around a separate camera. One cute feature is that it's
possible to take still pictures in 16:9 mode while filming. This
doesn't interrupt the filming, and the pictures are stored on the
Memory Stick. Up to three such pictures can be taken in any filming
sequence (from start to stop).
[Added 6/4/07] I have used the still camera some more. I compared
the 16:9 pictures taken in video camera mode to those taken in the
standard 4:3 camera mode, and I couldn't see any significant
differences in quality (other than the 16:9 being wider). This in
spite of the fact that Sony states the 16:9 mode pictures have an
"effective resolution" of 2.3 Mpixels while those in 4:3 have a
resolution of 4.0 Mpixels. (Note that, as far as I can tell, the
camera doesn't actually have a 4 MP sensor, but uses some sort of
interpolation to get 4 MP.) I also compared these pictures to ones
taken with my 2001-vintage Canon Powershot digital camera; those
from the Sony HDR-HC5 were clearly better. HOWEVER, the low-light
capabilities of the Sony still camera modes is very poor, much
worse than its low-light video capabilities. In ordinary indoor
lighting the pictures are very grainy. Even in outdoor shots, faces
that are in shade have a certain graininess. So in good light the
stills are fine, but in low light they're not very good. [End]
The battery life was OK. I estimate I got an hour or so from the
included battery. This was enough for shooting perhaps 30 minutes
of video under real world conditions.
I was able to read in and edit the video using iMovie HD on my Mac.
I couldn't send it back to tape because of a FireWire problem with
my computer, but I assume it would look just as good as the
original.
Overall, I can heartily recommend this camera to anyone who cares
about picture quality, but is not an advanced videographer needing
special features. For instance, there have been some complaints
about the lack of a manual focussing ring, but in my daily use (and
my 7 years with my SD camera) I have never felt the need for this.
Now I'm waiting for inexpensive HD-DVD or Blu-Ray burners!

(More customer reviews)(This review is for
the Jornada 820 mini laptop.)
A nice write-up Eric (another Reviewer here on Amazon.com).I really
enjoyed reading your review.
I agree, the Jornada 820 is a great mini laptop!I think it is
physically much better made than almost any of the current batch of
netbooks (MSI Wind, Asus Eee, HP Mini, and even the Samsung
NC10).Absolutely no flex in the screen or the keyboard.Amazing! What
a great keyboard!I have not seen another mini laptop with a 3 mm
travel on each key press (all the others are around 2 mm).And the
light grey-blue color, textured hard plastic cover, is beautiful
and very practical - shows no fingerprint marks whatsoever. No
cracks even after 10 years. If it only had a full Windows XP
functionality and still keeping the fantastic
instant-on/instant-off feature!Actually, for my purposes, the one
and only real problem with the Jornada 820 is not being able to
enter websites with a greater than 40-bit encryption security
(i.e., all those that need 128-bit).And web surfing on such a small
screen with a very basic browser is not the greatest experience (it
gets tiring after a while). But high-speed Internet with a wired
Kingston Ethernet IC PC Card (or with a Cisco Aeronet 350 series
Wireless LAN Adapter) is very fast. Many people claim that you don't
need an anti-virus program to protect your Jornada 820, but this is
not correct. You CAN get bugs from surfing the
Internet.(Unfortunately, I am not aware of an anti-virus program
suitable for the Jornada 820.)If you do encounter a problem, you
will need to do a hard-reset.
I've owned about four of these over the years in various used
condition (purchased them used from eBay), all with the 32MB RAM
upgrade installed, and I still use one of them currently. The only
physical problem is that the supporting lid hinge would eventually
come loose or break away (always on the right side of the laptop),
even though I really try to be gentle on the unit.It still happens
after a while if you keep using the machine.Another problem buying
a much used unit is that the screen tends to be a bit spotty or
blotchy (uneven shadows - looks like as if someone smeared it with
a cloth or pressed on it too hard). And there can be a little
light-bleeding around the edges too.You can really see this when
the unit is turned on and you have set a black desktop background
color on the screen. But if you can find a really good one (near new
condition), you won't have any of these issues with the screen
image. Also, the screen is not very bright for outdoors (but more
than sufficiently bright indoors).
Other than that, the Jornada 820 is an incredibly great mini laptop
with the best keyboard I have ever used (even after years of use,
the white bold characters printed on the keys don't wear off at
all).It is a very solid, very well constructed, sturdy laptop.Very
reliable; you don't get the strange temperament as with "normal"
Windows laptops - the Jornada 820 always behaves the same; no
blue-screen problems here, or applications hanging up with no
response. And if ever something does go wrong, it is very easy and
quick to either soft or hard reset the unit (if hard-resetting,
save your data first - and hard-reset only if you want to put
everything back to original factory settings).Another plus: your
PocketOutlook (i.e., Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, etc.) on the
Jornada 820 can be easily synchronized with your desktop's Outlook
(using ActiveSync 3.8).
If you like reading books on your mini-laptop, Mobipocket.com has a
compatible reader (and lots of books available) for the Jornada
820.Reading printed text on this unit is very easy because the font
type and size is adjustable (both in the laptop and also in the
Mobipocket reader software).
Why did I give it a 5-Star rating with all the concerns I've listed
above?Well, because it is still a fantastic mini laptop and very
satisfying to own and use one on a day to day basis. The Standard
Rechargeable Battery, even after many years of use, still lasts
around six hours. And with the High Capacity Battery, you get OVER
ten hours of use on a single charge, and it is the SAME size as the
Standard Battery (i.e., it doesn't stick out of the unit in the
back or anywhere else)! It is also great to take notes on at a
conference, while the Jornada is sitting on your lap or on a
table/desk.
I sure wish I could get my hands on a brand new unit!

(More customer reviews)Got the brown color
just to be different...WOW!! Great looking.Fast, not too much
add-on trash software to uninstall.Kinda wish I had gotten the i5
processor (not offered w/Blu-Ray) but this i3 is really a go getter
and I'm just as happy.Boots up really quickly, never a blue screen
(thanks Windows 7 64bit) and hav had no compatibility issues yet
other than difficulty running an old scratchy disk of AOL 9.0.Since
AOL on disk didn't load well so I just downloaded it and got the
new AOL 9.5 and that runs super. I've had the item for a couple of
weeks and placed Word-2003 that works great, my own Norton2010 that
I already had (deleted the Norton Trial ware of same name offered).
Put my ESPN, NFL, Amazon and EBay and various other web site ICONS
up without a hitch. My only issue is the speaker(s) are pathetic.I
searched for new drivers but have not found any.Purchased a Case
Logic Model R-110 USB laptop speaker and they sound is great
although the speaker is kind of awkward.
Connected to my Toshiba 62" HD via the HDMI and Blu-ray and picture
and sound were excellent. Its a little clumsy and awkward what with
the remote controls, mouse/keypad, and cables but possible.Upgraded
my home from a "g" Wifi hotspot to an Extreme-"N" wifi and this
laptop flies at 150MBps without a hitch.
Very nice keyboard.I like the IBM/Levono keyboard of my old T22
laptop better but all-in-all this is a fine machine and I recommend
to anyone (except gamers).More than likely, gamers will need a
separate graphics card but I've never experienced any problems with
normal things.
If you want a nice perfect fitting neopreme case (w/handles) get
the MICROSOFT I have already reviewed. It fits perfectly.
UPDATE:Gave R-110 to friend and got almost as good sounding but
much easier handling Logitech Clip-on Z205 USB Speaker.More very
happy (?) with this one. Haven't found any improved drivers for the
Sony speakers, they still suck!I recorded in HD one of the NBA
playoff games. Sooooooo effin great picture.Windows Media Center
works like a TIVO.You can go eat or bathroom and come back and go
back to point you left to continue watching and the game has been
continued to be recorded. Cool stuff...

(More customer reviews)I've been using my
900 now for 9 months and I am very pleased with the quality of
picture and manual controls. I previously only rented cameras and
only used the Canon XL-1 and Sony VX1000 previously of which got
mevery interested in digital camcorders.
At first I had doubts about the900 as it looks so much smaller and
cheaper when compared tothe XL-1 orVX1000.It just didn't give that
professional look (You have to admit theXL-1 is pretty cool
looking). That has been somewhat of a hinderance whenmaking
professional video productions and I show up with what looks like
asmall family video camera. So as first impressions go clients
sometimesthink your joking. But it wasn't long before people were
very impressedwith the picture and sound quality (I use seperate
mics as in allcamcorders I have found the built in mics pic up
motor noise of the digitaltape - for those who don't know these use
MiniDV tapes so even though theyare digital they still store the
video on a cassette). On the plus side tobeing small camera it
allows me to do things I couldn't do with the largerXL-1 and it is
also lighter, easier to manoeuvre, and has a much moreuseful
battery life.
I found the controls behind the LCD a littlebothersome when I
needed to quickly access those controls when the LCD isclosed but
fortunately most manual controls are easily accessible on theback
or front of the camera.I also loved the manual audio level
featurebut I wished it had it on an outside knob/button and not
have to select itfrom multiple pull down menus on the LCD
screen. But I found the manualcontrols more useful than the
VX1000.The XL-1 had easy to access manualcontrols as well and in
fact if I had to choose I would pick the XL-1controls setup over
the TRV-900 but that could be because that was thefirst digital
camera I learned to operate and get familiar with.
My videoquality is I believe clearer for most shots on the 900 than
the work I didon the XL-1 and it also was easier to avoid hot spots
if an interviewsubject turns causing a bad reflection from the
lighting as it has a nicezebra mode to show you hot spots. On the
downside I did find the XL-1 abit better in lower light levels and
it has what I feel is a better qualitylens which is also
interchangeable. It is most likely due to the betterlens on the XL-1
that it didn't resort to digital enhancements that washedout blacks
to a slightly towards grey in poor light conditions when
filmingmotion. The 900 has low light level settings but can only be
used for stillshots as the frame rate is too slow for normal video,
but it does sharpenup a still image quite nicely in poor light.
Overall I am very happy withthe product.I did a fair amount of
research before buying it and it paidoff for my needs.I was able to
find I could get this camera along withXLR adapters and a basic
steady cam for the same price it was going to costme for just the
XL-1.And I much preferred the 900 over the VX1000.
Forthose curious I use this camera to make video productions
(mostlypromotional videos) and I can obtain broadcast quality video
using thiscamera along with a good video editing card on a PC.If
you plan onpurchasing a DV camera to make a production or even a
movie I wouldrecommend the TRV-900 or at least a digital camera
with the 3CCD feature. (Yes you can have a DV recording converted
to 35mm film for theatres butyour looking at probably $45,000US
plus for a 1.5hr feature and then thereis the whole issue of
getting someone to run with it).
If your interestis not in professional or near professional quality
and don't want theexpense of the 3CCD camera I would still highly
recommend a digital camera(either DV or miniDV).I also use a TRV-9
and in good lighting it can comepretty close at first glance to my
TRV-900 for sharpness. It also has avery cool night shot feature
where you can get a black and white image inabsolute blackness
(only for about 10-20 feet from the camera though).Thebiggest
advantage to digital video is it has a much higher
bandwidthdesignated for image colors than your standard home video
camera includingHi-8, VHS, S-VHS and even the Digital Hi-8 (which
is in between Hi-8 andDigital Hi-8).Higher color bandwidth means a
better picture quality andthere is more information there for your
editor to work with thus there isless loss in rendered edited
video. The advantage of the 3CCD feature oncameras such as the
TRV-900 means more realistic colors (one chip isdedicated for each
of the 3 primary colors)
I hope this review is usefulfor those of you debating the should I
get a 3CCD camera or not.
