How to Prevent Children Anxiety
There is a common thought that anxiety is only found in adults or mostly found in adults but there are more instances of finding anxiety in children today than ever before. There are a variety of circumstances that might cause this anxiety but there are also ways to prevent it. In fact, early prevention is recommended rather than having to treat it when the child is already suffering from it.
One of the best things that a parent or guardian can do for their children is to ensure that there is a support system around them. The children should feel comfortable in talking with the parents or others around them and the parents or guardians need to listen to the children. Part of this is empathetic listening which means that the listener is validating the child’s feelings and is sensitive to them. They do not pass the feelings as nothing but they let the child know that they are important and that it is okay to feel that way. Not only this, but they work to help the child through it.
There might be situations that are causing this anxiety such as separation from the parents or additions to the family, and so on. It is vital to find out what is behind the anxiety if it does appear or if there is a situation that may cause anxiety, to help the child through it before the anxiety starts.
Looking for early signs of anxiety can help the parents know that there is a problem so that the anxiety doesn’t get any worse. Some of these signs include agitated behavior, crying, yelling, acting confrontational, amongst others. There are also physical symptoms to look for such as headaches and stomachaches. If these can be caught in the early stages and worked with correctly than it can prevent them from getting worse. If the parents or guardians suspect the child is suffering anxiety, it is a good idea to bring them to a doctor.
