Hi there, my name is Cory and I love anything that has to do with extreme sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding.
Many people look for a new hobby to pursue when they start having
more free time in their lives. Unfortunately, most people over the
age of 30 limit themselves to certain hobbies that seem appropriate
for their age. Granted, there are many hobbies that are only
pursued by a certain demographic, but in some case it's okay to
defy the status quo. Skateboarding has long been associated with
the young and rebellious, so many adults don't even entertain the
idea of picking it up as a hobby, when it's actually a great form
of exercise and transportation among other things. Fortunately, the
longboard gives the older crowd a socially acceptable way to break
into skateboarding.

While skateboarding is largely more popular than longboarding, they
each have their own merits. If you don't know how to do either, you
should know that both are a lot of fun, but it's slightly easier to
learn how to ride a longboard. While longboarding has not become so
popular that it has become a full-blown sport like skateboarding,
there are people who make a living by longboarding and getting
sponsored. At its essence, the longboard is really just a variation
of the skateboard, but it's different in the sense that just about
anyone can learn how to longboard much faster than they could learn
how to skateboard. The bad news is that it can take quite a while
before you are longboarding at the same level as the pros, but this
is the same as most pursuits. It will require hard work, but here
are some great tips to get you started.

them out to be. After you read this article, you'll know what all

Most people already know what skateboarding is due to its
integration into popular culture, but if you live in a big city,
you might've seen some people travelling on a strange-looking
skateboard that is longer and more pointy at the ends. If you
haven't already figured it out, what you saw is called a longboard.
Longboarding is not as widely known as skateboarding, so if you are
interested in learning more about longboarding, here are the key
differences between these two types of boards and the people behind
them.

From a seven year-old's perspective, skateboarding actually looks
pretty easy when you are watching other people do it. Initially, it
appears to be just a few shoves with either foot and off you go!
After getting on a board for the first time, right away you'll feel
the difference and know there's more to skating than you thought.
It's not an easy sport to master, no matter what age you are. It
takes time to learn how to stand on a skateboard, but it takes even
more time to learn tricks. Most beginners just see all the cool
stuff that the experienced skateboarders do and they feel
frustrated because they can't even do basic tricks. Just because
you can't do a 360 on a half pipe ramp, doesn't mean you are a bad
skater. All skaters have to start somewhere, and the sooner you
learn the fundamentals, the faster you can start doing those crazy
tricks.

You've played all of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games and now you're
thinking, "Skateboarding looks easy enough, I can probably do that
- no sweat!" This is understandable, as it looks like little more
than pushing with one foot and then just balancing. With this
though process, surfing looks like a no-brainer too. Stand up on a
board, get that board on a wave, and you're set. Once you actually
try skateboarding, however, you'll immediately discover that it
only looks easy. It takes practice, skill, and
dedication--especially if you want to be able to do the tricks you
see the experts doing. What follows are some expert tips to cut
your learning time in half and increase your potential.
