I also can dispense with the endless dialogue that sometimes forcefully interupts your current task for a strange and sudden personal dialogue between you and your companions in the middle of a street or jungle. Seriously though, the game isnt bad and it does a lot to improve on the gameplay from the first KOTOR, although it did feel a bit rushed in so many aspects.br br The beginning of KOTOR II was very tedious. Perhaps it is supposed to be tedious. Im not sure, but when I fire up an RPG I want to be able to roam freely. This was also the case with KOTOR the first though it seemed less noticable due to the fact that I was still allowed to more or less roam freely around the city I was in. In KOTOR II they make the path fairly linear with a limited number of options other than which partially witty comment to throw at Atton.br br From there it gets more tedious before it gets less. You dont get to chose where you go and when for quite some time. There are a large number of forced dialogues that take up the time you SHOULD be exploring and turning good into evil or evil into good. You finally do get to start deciding where you want to go next and you get a little more influence over how you do things. But out of about 4 different play throughs, I have only made it to that point once because I get bored well before that point.br br The game is a beautiful game visually speaking. I think KOTOR was more beautiful just because of the settings. There are some nice places to visit in KOTOR II but not nearly as many as the first game. In fact, most of the locations in KOTOR II make me want to leave as soon as I get there. But the graphics are just as good if not better than the first.br br The gameplay is largely better. The powers and feats are a bit different, and I prefer the new way. I also love the idea of crafting items. It is a great way to add use to your various feats and skills and the items you find. It is also a way to help combat, ever so slightly, the enormous price tags on anything that youll find yourself actually wanting to purchase within the game. I can see putting some things well out of reach of players at the beginning of the game, and I can completely understand making a player chose between a few high levelled items instead of buying them all, but both KOTOR games seem to include many items that you just cant purchase at all without cheating. But, the crafting is nice and I like having a more customizable blade, lightsaber, blaster, etc.br br Physics are not really a factor in this game. I dont think there are any out of the normal or overly cool physics. Most of the things that happen are scripted it seems so theres really nothing to talk about.br br The AI is okay. Again, not much to it. The combat seems solid enough, and is a decent blend of fair, turn based fighting and real time action. Im not a big fan of the combat system because it takes me out of the game and makes it less real, but I wont fault the game for it because I can see why they do it. Outside of combat I dont get the characters. Why do both KOTOR games force a lot of conflicting emotions onto a game to try to force the player into that line of emotion and conflict Why not design a game that lets the player experience it in their own way And what I absolutely hated about this game is the confusing moral maze created by a strange lady that nobody asked to be around constantly sticking her nose into the players business, and even worse, a bunch of stuck up jedi talking down to the player for decisions the player made, often times when the player had no other choice. Sure, they did this all for the story and mood of the game. But what did that accomplish For me, it made me go out of my way to perform evil deeds in the game. If Im going to get blamed for it......br br The bottom line with that is that I grow weary of constantly being berrated for trying to play the game. I know it is a game, but I got little enjoyment out of accomplishing anything because no matter what I did, there was someone telling me all I did wrong. More importantly, had the character truly reflected me, I would have handled almost every situation in the game differently than the choices shown or the choices given to me. I do like having to choose with some choices being good and some being evil. I like having good or bad influence or report with the characters, but often a choice is made to be evil or good by the developers when that would be very debatable in real life quite like eating tofu in Fable was good and eating meat was bad, I guess hippies are making these games now.br br In a related complaint, I really didnt feel like the story ever made much sense or was finished. I know Im not the only one from reading the other reviews. I cant discuss some of my complaints with the ending without spoiling it, but it will be spoiled anyway, so I should. But I wont. Then theres the matter of the most evil looking dude in the game yeah, the guy on the cover turns out to be little more than a side item. Dont get your hopes up to enter epic battle with that guy. And for the rest of the game you can stare at his mask in your inventory but cant wear it. Boooo!br br Okay, okay, the rate Im going I should be giving this game one star. But Im giving it three. Because it was till rather enjoyable despite the fact that I had no idea why I was enjoying it. br br Ive got to break into the ratings now.br br Graphics 100 for the time, these were stellar graphicsbr Physics Im going NA on this onebr Artificial Intelligence 85 that is what I consider adequatebr MapsLevels 80 not nearly free roam enough, not as fun to be in as the environments in KOTOR the firstbr Story 50 at best they left to much out and forced the restbr Replay Potential 80 not bad, you can make different choice, but it is just too hard to endure the beginning againbr Interface 90 pretty intuitive reallybr Gameplay 95 nothing wrong with it, better than KOTORbr Detail 75 at best, an RPG should have more IN IT, more body looting, more items, more clutter etc.br br So that brings the total rating, for me, up to 81.875. You may think that is 4 star territory but not so. I need an 85 game to get 4 stars, 90 and above for 5. Anything below 70 wont be worth my time, zero star region.keywordStar Wars Knights Of The Old Republic VornkeywordbabstemplateStarWarsKnightsOfTheOldRepublicVorn, 1, , 1249, VideoGames, 0, , babstemplate
