I am going to be out in Sigtuna Christmas Market this year representing Fika Town. If anyone in Sweden is out that way over one of the 4 Sundays then be sure to drop by for some banter!

This is a long overdue post which finally I have got time to sit down and post up on Kontain. In Ireland there is a pretty competitive landscape for those looking to plan a wedding in the Emerald Isle. There is such a plethora of options to choose from. You have everything from venues to invitations and from bands to popular priests and photographers.
All choices are of course important on the wedding day, but one of the most important choices in my opinion and often the most difficult to make is the photography. Luckily enough for both Mia and myself this choice was made very simple. Having worked with photographers in the past in New York and being a hobbyist myself, I would think we both have a fairly decent eye for good photography. After Googling, surfing the Irish wedding sites and getting friends recommendations, there were just 2 photographers in the Irish landscape that stood out from the crowd by leaps and bounds. You might think 2 is very little, but there is a certain style of photography that a lot of wedding photographers in Ireland seem to portfolio. The style is similar to your mother lining you all up in a row from oldest to youngest and saying “cheese” then pressing the shutter button. If that is your cup of tea then you will have no bother finding someone.
I don’t want to compare the final 2 people we had short-listed; as their styles are both similar and they are great photographers. We had our minds made up after one call with Shane O’Neil from Aspect Photography. Shane is simply put and as my own mother kept saying ‘a very nice guy’ and an amazing photographer. Shane’s style is unique and he focuses on telling a story documentary style. Using this style and approach he is pretty much able to be a fly on the wall and still capture so many stunning moments and conversations throughout the day that you would not of even known until you see the photos after.
Shane’s portfolio speaks for itself and you can visit his site over at Aspect Photography and check out some of the recent weddings he has shot. However what the photos don’t show is what Shane brings to the table on the build up to the wedding, the day itself and then the aftermath of edits, books and black and white versus color discussions. There is a whole other experience with choosing Shane as your photographer rather than just the prints you get at the end. More like a Virgin Atlantic experience as opposed to a Ryanair one. I think this is where a blog post like this will serve the most value to couples trying to decide on a good wedding photographer in Ireland.
To sum up, Shane is super professional, has a fantastic personality which was echo’d by lots of people on the day, is extremely proactive in his scouting for good spots to shoot, very innovative in his shooting methods and will make you feel brilliant on your day, rain, hail or shine…
Thanks Shane if you are reading this for all your hard work and memories. Tack så mycket from Sweden.
