How to stop getting backlash when using a baitcasting reel

When using a baitcasting reels, the main issue that newcomers have is casting – if you dont do it right, you might get some backlash which in turn will lead to birds nests in your line.

There are many factors that determine how well you cast and the underlying cause of getting bird nests is when the spool continues to spin when the lure hits the water. You will need the spool to stop feeding when the lure has landed.

Here are 3 ways that you can improve your casts to prevent this;

1. Learn to stop the spool with your thumb

Learning how to control the spool is a big part of casting. You can practice casting in a field or other large area and dont need to be where there is water. You should start by making sure that the tension is set so that when the lure hits the ground, the spool turns no more than a quarter turn. After casting, keep your thumb on the spool as a guide, but not so you are slowing it down and when the lure hits the ground, stop the spool by pressing down on it.

2. Buy a reel to fit your hands

As above, good thumb control is highly important so you should take some time to buy a good quality baitcasting reel. You dont need to spend a fortune but the ergonomics can make a huge difference into how easy it is for you to control it. Once you master how to cast, you can then look into other features that are available.

3. Keep the rod level after you cast

After you have cast, make sure that you keep the rod tip level and pointing where the lure is flying; if you dont do this then you may find that the lure stops when it hits the water, but the line is still being fed. This may also cause bird nests. It can also happen if you move your wrist too much after you have cast.

Using a baitcasting reel is a fun and rewarding experience With a some practice, you can easily overcome the problem of backlash when you cast. You shouldn’t let this put you off and these 3 tips should serve as a good starting point.

Dont worry if you have tinnitus

Tinnitus has been known to affect millions of people for a while now and many still beleive that it cannot be cured. It can also cause other physical and physiological problems like stress, irritability, anxiety and trouble sleeping. Of course, the associated problems alone demonstrate just how much of a problem it can be. So is there really no possible cure for tinnitus?

In actual fact, there are many cures available and a lot will depend on the cause of the problem, but at the same time there are many further studies into finding related causes. For example, some people might be suffering from a temporary condition due to listening to loud music at a concert whereas others might have an ear infection that a simple course of antibiotics can sort out.

It also doesnt have to be as intolerable as you may have heard. There are a lot of ways that will help to take the edge of the constant ringing noises you are hearing. These range from specially crafted pillows that emit white noise that has been proven to reduce the volume of the ringing you can hear to various audio tapes and dvds. In fact, background noise has been confirmed by many to help them sleep and get through the night.

It is usually very depressing to learn that the condition you are suffering from has no cure.. This doesn’t apply to tinnitus though and it is important to understand that. Before you give up you must find out what caused the onset in the first place. In some cases you will need medical help but if you are clear about your request then there are many tests that can be done to find this out. Wether it is an allergy, nerve damage, loud music or too much blood flowing through a single vein around the ear, nowadays a simple test can confirm it.
