(More customer reviews)Dr Ott claims the bulb will last 10,000 hours. I don't know. The ballast in my light did not last that long. Now, I find out that the ballast is not replaceable! Even though I am capable of re-wiring the lamp, Dr Ott's company refuses to sell me a replacement ballast. There is no place to get it repaired because no one can get the proper ballast from Dr. Ott. My expensive lamp is now just junk.

(More customer reviews)Produces a reasonable amount of light that can be directed downwards with the fins so that it illuminates the floor without being blindingly bright when you look directly at it.This is a great choice for lighting a hall or doorway where you don't want to illuminate the whole room.It takes up enough space that it is difficult to use the second outlet for anything other than a small two-prong plug, so this is not a great option if you often need the second outlet for something with a power-brick.It looks good - very much like a theatre-style path-light and is not obtrusive.The sensor turns it on when there is a low light level but there is no on-off switch.Not a big deal as the LED should be using very little power.It does not generate perceptible heat when in use.

It was kind of a pain to put together; we disregarded the "bulb map" after a while...as long as the bulbs are not touching, you have some leeway as to where they go.
One thing I don't like is that the smallest round bulbs are not actually *bulbs*...they don't light up; they are just round glass spheres.So they kind of stay dark when everything else lights up.
But still, gorgeous!

(More customer reviews)We paid top dollar for our Casablanca Mission fan which we mistakenly believed was a top-of-the line product and a good company. We invested the extra money intending to make it part of our house - for life. The fan's computer based controller - without which this fan motor/light will not run at all - has failed for the second time, with the fan no longer responding to the controls, it is unusable. Casablanca claims their "lifetime warranty" was meant for the motor only and not the controller. This makes absolutely no sense at all, as the controller is physically part and parcel of the motor in this model, and the two are inseparable to operate the fan. Casablanca demanded upwards of $100 to replace the flaky controller, which we refused. For this money, a completely new, reliable ceiling fan can be bought. I feel Casablanca has failed to honor their warranty, and have employed a very poor and transparent word trick to avoid it. Do yourself a favor, avoid this fan, and avoid the Casablanca warranty (i.e. buy another brand).

(More customer reviews)The Maxxima MLN-20 LED night light is one smart little device.It really serves three functions in one; here is the rundown:

The night light contains only LEDs, light emitting diodes, so it uses very little energy (and does not contain Mercury).The night light is light-sensing so it is not on during the day or when other lights are on.The panel over the LED is frosted so the LED is not piercingly bright.

The night light must contain an internal battery because if the power goes off, another LED on the bottom of the night light provides floor level lighting - this would be great during an emergency.

The kicker is that the entire unit can be easily unplugged and then used as a miniature flashlight.The cover on the bottom LED is not frosted, so the flashlight has a pretty good directional range.

There is an easy-to-access switch on the side of this device with the option to turn the device off entirely, turn off the night light function (so only the floor lighting would come on during a power loss) or turn on all the functionality.

The only con I can see for this product is that it blocks both outlets when you plug it in.There is definitely enough clearance over the unused outlet to access it by using a low profile "flat plug."A flat plug is low profile where it goes into the wall (i.e. it doesn't stick up and usually makes a sharp turn.)

Overall the Maxxima MLN-20 LED night light is an economical and practical small electronic device for the home that should appeal to your inner geek.

(More customer reviews)It's a nice bright light but it fails to show the benefits of LED's in a few respects. The color temp is pretty cool so it casts a bluish light. But that didn't really bother me much. What bothered me most about this was that when you turn it on, there's a few second delay before this light illuminates. Not what I'd expect from a LED light. Also combining that oddity with the fact that you can't put this bulb on a dimmer there isn't much benefit to this bulb over a CFL.
