The Bauer Gallery is an affordable Dallas portrait photography outfit. We took Erich and Ashley along to the Dallas Arboretum to get an engagement photoshoot. You can watch the video and see how the photos turned out yourself! It was definitely a challenge as I think the temperature topped 105 that day. Due to the fact that I can navigate the Arboretum with my eyes closed (I’m there dozens of times a year) I knew all the shady spots! That and a little bit of photoshop skill and the shiny spots were a thing of the past.
Erich and Ashley enjoyed their photoshoot so much that
they’re bringing The Bauer Gallery along to shoot their wedding
package too! We’re excited to pack up all the gear and head down
to their wedding next year.

One of the advantages to having your professional
portrait photography session done with The Bauer Gallery is the
fact that you can have as many clothing changes as you want. When
Korey approached us about having us take her portrait photography
in Dallas one of the concerns she had was whether she would be
able to switch outfits in the middle. We told her that it
wouldn’t be a problem, not only are clothing changes not a
problem but even location changes can be accommodated.
We agreed to meet up at White Rock Lake’s Park in order to take advantage of the sunshine and cool weather near the lake. After a jaunt through the park,we came upon some of the best places that I’ve seen for portrait photography in Dallas. One of those locations was the old White Rock Lake Bathhouse and another was the old White Rock Lake Pier.
We wanted to get all of this done as close to sunset as we could in order to take advantage of “the golden hour”. That time of photography when the light from the sun is dying and that’s takes on an amber hue. A couple of costume changes later and we finished the photo shoot using flashlights to find our way back to the parking lot.
If you’re interested in having your own portrait photography in Dallas done by The Bauer Gallery, then you should definitely check our availability, and fill out a contact form in order to start the booking process. If you are you know which dates you’d like to reserve go ahead and fill out a booking form and we can get you scheduled for your own personalized photo shoot.
All of the photo shoots by The Bauer Gallery offer you all of the “final” photos taken at full size with no requirement for print work. That means you can take the photos that we create together to any printing company that you want in order to have prints made. The Bauer Gallery does not believe in holding customers hostage for print work nor do we make you choose which photos you want to purchase. We deliver all of the photos that we feel are up to our standards so that you don’t have to feel any sort of pressure to pick and choose the ones that you like the best.
We went out for a fun day of portrait photos on a windy cool day in Fort Worth. We made the rounds of the Botanical Gardens and even slid over to the stockyards for some photo fun. (We didnt get the running of the longhorns though :( ) Melissa and Sam were a lot of fun and we even had a great lunch together at Fuzzy’s Tacos afterwards. Who can resist this amazing combination of activities? If you’re looking for your own engagement photos you should fill out a booking form or if you’d like to talk to us about it first, a contact form and we’ll get you started!
Melissa wanted some classic engagement portrait looks
with
a little bit of a twist and I think we were on point with the
package we delivered. Even though it was cold out there they were
troopers through it all! In fact, there was a bit of a clothing
snafu mixed in, but it didn’t stop Melissa and Sam from getting
in front of the camera and making their engagement photo shoot a
very successful one. It sounds like Melissa thought so too!
Thank you so much! The pictures are great!!
Getting emails like that make it all worth it. I’m looking forward to seeing you two on the big day, too! I know we’ve got another weekend of great photography left in us. Congrats to Melissa and Sam!
Getting your date reserved is the first important step in getting your engagement photo shoot done right! Having some photos for your “save-the-date” mailings, the guest book/gift table, and the wedding reception slideshow is a must in today’s wedding climate! If you’re looking for an engagement photographer in Dallas or Fort Worth, fill out an engagement photography contact form and we can get you booked and ready for your own photo shoot. It’ll be a great day filled with laughs and some great photography. (And if I’m lucky, more Fuzzy’s tacos)
The crowds of Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum
weren’t enough to keep Betty, Andrew and my crew away from a
great afternoon of photography. This weekend was all about having
fun and this couple really delivered! In addition to laughing
about topics ranging from The Fast and the Furious to having a
random German guy offer to join in the shoot we created some
great photos in the process!
When you’re looking for some out of the box photography you can count on TheBauerGallery delivering. Don’t believe me? Click on the video and watch! (Click on the video anyway, it’s pretty sweet!)
While I was editing these photos, Betty wrote me telling me she’d been thinking about the shoot ever since that day and couldn’t wait to get the photos. So, I knew the pressure was on!
When the engagement photography package was delivered to her, this was her response:
Thank you for these pictures :) we are using one for our save the date! . . . thank you again. i’ve recommended you to another couple. :)
Thank you Betty and Andrew! I love it when a client is so excited about the photos I shot for them that they’re telling all their friends about it!
If you’ve been thinking about some engagement photography in Dallas, now’s the time to get your spot reserved by filling out an engagement photography contact form. Even if you just have some questions and would like some clarification, send me a message. I’d love to discuss it with you.
S
o, I note a few days ago I was disappointed in some of
the features that the TT1 has as far as usability and a
professional scenario. I’m still not quite convinced that it is
bulletproof, as I’m still waiting for the transceiver to arrive.
But I have had a chance to play with the TT1 and my other
plus II pocketwizard receivers. I have to say, the reason that I
wanted this product in the first place, has delivered exactly
what I hoped it would.
At right, you can see the result of 10 minutes of experimentation with the hypersync technology. the photo was taken off of my balcony at approximately 4 PM. The amazing thing that might not be so apparent right now is that it was taken using camera settings that would normally be impossible with the usual radio transmitters. In case you are unfamiliar with how radio transmitters work in the photography industry, the camera would only allow you to trigger your flash at a certain speed. If you exceeded the speed you would did black areas in your photos due to the curtains not being out of the way when the flash hit. With pocketwizard’s new hypersync technology you can play around with the timing of the whole event and hopefully you can reduce the affect of the curtains on your photo.
I don’t know yet. I’ve only done a cursory look through the configuration software and started playing around with the hikers sank last night, but it appears to be somewhat interesting. There may be a problem when you try to mix TTL and non-TTL flashes in a photograph. at one point, the flashes will go from hypersync to using FPS , which is how Nikons TTL program deals with shutter speeds that are over the typical sync speed. This FPS renders non-TTL pocketwizards useless, I think. More experimentation will have to be done once I get my transceiver in. (hurry up amazon!)
But, if I’m only using dummy receivers, and my usual menagerie of Nikon strobes, I can see some interesting ideas forming in my head about these sort of photos that can be taken without the need for F32 apertures. Couple that with a good ND filter and you might be able to shoot at 2.8 at 1/800 th of a second and still be able to use a strobe. In this way you could use off-camera lighting, freeze action, and still completely blur the background with your wide open aperture. There are also a lot of other possibilities for ultra-dramatic photography with a 4 PM sky that looks like the photo in this post.
I’m off to attempt to create a database of photos using various hypersync settings. I’ll show you the results, if it doesn’t end up breaking me first. Right now, odds are 50-50
The Bauer
Gallery has finally taken delivery of the Pocketwizard Nikon
MiniTT1. And I have to say it’s a lot bigger than I thought
it would be. But the biggest issue is, for an item that is
so technologically advanced, you would think that the manual
would be more comprehensive. I think my remote control
helicopter has a more comprehensive manual than this. And the
helicopter manual had some words that I don’t even think are in
the English language! :)
Not to mention pocket Wizard has committed the online misdemeanor of sending you to their home page instead of a specific page for more information about their “hypersync” technology. Really? Couldn’t have made a specific link to this information? it’s pretty much the only reason I wanted to buy this transmitter in the first place. and it’s probably the part of the manual would you give the least amount of time to. Forget the TTL opportunities, I wanted the extra stop of shutter with my legacy wizards. but I had to go to Flickr in order to find information about which settings to put things on to achieve certain properties on the flash advance. Nice. You had nearly a year to work out the manual problems with the Canon version and didn’t think it was that important?
If you’re disappointed by the manual. You’re really going to be disappointed by the computer utility that they offer along with this product. It’s going to be quite a while before this is rotated into professional service, I think. Now I have to decide if I want to get my broken plus-II transmitter repaired or not. Eventually I’d like for this one to be the full-time transmitter, but it seems like there is too much that could go wrong during a wedding for me to take that risk at the moment.
Hopefully this is all just a complete overreaction, but I’m not holding my breath. Even though I’ve been a Pocketwizard fan from day one. This doesn’t seem like the rocksolid solution that their products have been in the past.
Just before Christmas, The Bauer Gallery took a trip out to the Arboretum to meet our latest client and take some really terrific pictures in the garden. Lauren and her fiancé, found a quiet spot, and really got to work making some truly interesting engagement photography.
We made a little video for you guys to check out, too!

The Bauer Gallery found a warm day in January to get a few engagement photo sessions in! it was off to Fort Worth to meet Nikki and Nick and shoot some great photos.
Nikki and Nick were all whole lot of fun, and we spent most of the engagement shoot laughing and quoting movies while we made some really great photography at the same time.
As you can see they were naturals in front of the camera and the images turned out great! I’m really looking forward to seeing them again in July, when it’s time for their wedding. Congratulations you guys, everyone here is definitely wishing you all the best! :D
By the way, if you’re in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and you’re looking for an engagement photos. You should definitely check out our engagement photographer’s page and see some of our other engagement photography sessions!

One thing is definitely true about your wedding day is that you will probably have more photos taken of you that day than on any other day of your life. (Does this sound exciting? Or scary?) This fact illustrates the reason why a lot of people opt for professional makeup artists to do their makeup on their wedding day. Of course, having a professional makeup artist do your make up is certainly not a requirement. And in fact, a number of my clients opted to do their makeup themselves or had a talented friend do it for them and everything turned out fine. That said, there are a number of “best practices” that you should observe in regards to your overall look on your wedding day.
Of
course, if you have any questions about what people typically do
in regards to their wedding, you need to fill out a contact form today and we’ll give
you as much advice as we can because we’ve seen a lot of
weddings. If you’re looking for reliable and dependable
people to help you make your wedding day a day to remember, you
should definitely have a look at our main wedding page and get in
touch with us to find out how our photography company can create
a very special wedding day memory for you. We’re professional
wedding photographers in Dallas and we have
years of experience that we’re happy to impart to you in order to
make your day a smoother one!
One of the more often overlooked areas of photography are engagement photos. Engagement photos are great for number of different reasons: you can use them for save the date photos, you can use them on your personal wedding website, and you can use the session with the photographer as a dry run for your wedding photography.
“Save-the-date” items are becoming more and more popular as an easy way to send a little reminder to your friends about your wedding date. You have many choices when it comes to “save-the-date” products such as a card, even an HTML rich e-mail, or something more in-depth like a refrigerator magnet with your engagement photos and date on the front. Giving them something that they could use into the future like the refrigerator magnet is a nice way to say thanks for their consideration. I know that there are “save-the-date” magnets on my refrigerator from a few years ago that are currently holding up my favorite take-out spot menus! Don’t forget, you can also use these photos for your newspaper’s wedding announcement, too.
Use your Engagement Photos for Websites!
If you’re planning on creating your own website so that you have one central location for all of your wedding information. Using your engagement photos on the website is a nice touch. Having all of your wedding information in a central location makes it easier for your guests to keep abreast of the current developments, the block of rooms you have set out in a hotel, and any other information that they all might need like directions or event times. Having some professional photos on this website can set the mood for your “Big Day” and will definitely add to the enjoyment of your website.
The last and probably most important aspect of engagement photos is the dry run that you get to have with a wedding photographer. You should definitely be looking at having an engagement session done with the wedding photographer that you might want for your wedding. Even if your wedding is out-of-state or even out of the country, most wedding photographers are willing to travel with your party. And having a photographer that you’re comfortable in front of, and having a photographer who you already know is going to make you look great can certainly be worth the extra expense. If you’re a little camera shy or don’t feel like you’re so natural in front of the camera, an engagement photo shoot can also be a great way to shed some of those jitters and realize that it’s not such a big deal. This can be very helpful when your wedding day comes around. You won’t be nearly as concerned about being in front of the camera for an entire day. It will also give your groom to be a chance for a little experience being photographed, as they tend to be the ones who are the least sure about being photographed all day long. Just the other day, I had to convince one the guys in my engagement photos that it was okay to take his sunglasses off for the shoot!
So Many Uses and Options
There are plenty of creative ways that you can use your engagement photos: use them on the table reservation cards, on your “save-the-date” refrigerator magnets, and on your wedding announcement website. This is also a great opportunity for you to have some more experience in a professional photography setting. So don’t let these opportunities pass you by, the small amount that you pay for your engagement photos will pay off in big dividends in the long run.
