(More customer reviews)The good: save
water and electricity
The bad: serious design defect
We bought this LG washer recently to replace our over-10-year-old
washer. We were excited to get this since it looks nice and is
energy efficient. It does what it says: use significantly less water
and wash clothes clean. However, we found a big problem with the
washer. Every time we start the washer, our house water pipes will
shake violently for about one minute. The strong vibration occurs
on pipes some distance from the water tap and is caused by rapid
engaging of the on/off valve of the LG washer as it starts. As we
never saw this kind of vibration with our old washer, we contacted
LG and a technician came over. It appears that this situation is
not unique to us, as the technician had responded to other similar
complaints in the area.Furthermore, we were told older houses
(>10 year) are more likely to have this kind of air hammering
effect. We are concerned that the strong vibration may cause
problems in our house water pipes. Not surprisingly, a google search
of the problem found that other LG users had complained unknown,
repeated leaks in their water pipes, sometimes from behind the
wall. Fearful of the leaks in our water pipes, we installed two air
hammer arrester and that seems to alleviate the problem.I wish that
LG had warned customers of this potentially serious problem.

worked for about 2 minutes, since then I have not been able to get
any ice or water from the door.Whirlpool sent some parts and
admitted it is a common problem because the waterlines freezes, but
it still doesn't work. I attempted to defrost it with a hair dryer
for 2 hours but that didn't work either. It freezes produce closing
the humidifier slots helps some. The touch panel is fussy it doesn't
always register your preference.2 repair calls and it is still not
fixed this is a high end disaster. This is a new design and
Whirlpool has some serious design work to do on this model.

(More customer reviews)You can't get more
for your money than one of these pools, period. If it lasts 2 or 3
seasons so what. I replaced an Aqua Leasure after 2 or 3 with an
Intex 15X42. Both worked very well. The sides of the Intex are a
little more upright so you have more usable area inside the pool
which I like. This makes the sides a little less stable but even
with 9 year olds jumping over the sides you don't lose any or
hardly any water unless they a couple of them lay on the upper air
ring and try to push it down. The Intex and Aqua are both very
sensitive to level ground. Mine is on the patio concrete which
slopes away from the house for rain run off purposes. Even this
causes considerable uneveness in the water level. I added some
carpet pieces to the "low side" just under the outside edge. Helped
a little I think. Again, so what. Water is full on one side a few
inches low on the other. No one but me even notice. But don't try
to set up on more slope than I'm discribing. Filter works fine.
Skimmer pole is very sturdy. Ladder works fine and does not rust
for some reason like the Aqua Leisure did. I use clorine strips to
test water. Just dip and read. Very easy. Be sure to keep clorine
level up. I added clorine after tester showed white or none. Wrong,
add before clorine goes to zero level or you will get dark emerald
green swamp water as a surprise one day. Triple clorine or so
solved problem. Leslie pools were very helpful and refused to sell
me more expensive fix I was demanding."Just try the extra clorine
first, sir". Intex comes with nice cover too. Helps keep pool
clean, but if dirty you can do two things. Put garden hose in pool
with a weight on the end and run water to fill the hose. Turn off
and remove from hose bib and take quickly to lower ground setting
up a siphon. Get in pool and "vacume" up the dirt with slow even
strokes. On a hot day, if you like to keep a clean pool, very
pleasurable job. Oh, before the vacume get in and run around the
pool creating a spinning vortex or what ever you call it. In 30
minutes or more the dirt will consentrate on ridges in the bottom.
(hard not to have some)
Setup is of course much longer than the 15 minutes or so
advertized. The reason is because it is a little hard to spread the
pool out evenly. The warmer the weather the better to soften the
plastic. And once you get a inch of wate in the pool it becomes
VERY heavy and hard to change. Use the plastic tarp for sure so you
don't slide the pool on concrete or something abrasive. Infact try
not to slide the pool at all. Lift and fold instead. I had to move
the pool once this year (Wifes idea)folded and placed on piano
mover (lowboy with casters). Left in the sun and when I went to
move it, sides had fallen down and were scraping on concrete for
about 10 ft of travel. Yup, three holes.(Wifes fault) Used the hole
patch stuff from the inside and no leaks. Here in southern Cal I
keep it up for maybe 4 month per year. After that kids don't seem
to use it and water is not near as warm. My child loves it,
neighbors love it. Neighbor put in pool so it got lots less use
this season but they still come over to both houses. I paid $210 at
Leslies Pools in Fontana CA location (big selection)Have seen them
less and 50% higher other places. These are real pools by the way.
You'll want to spend a little time with them cleaning and checking
clorine, using filter etc. But after 4 months my pool is in the
garage waiting for next year and there "real" pool is in need of a
pool boy all year with all the other costs. Ok, their pool looks
nicer with all that concrete and faux rock and plants and lighting.
But for $200 bucks this pool is a deal. If I have the time I'll try
to upload some video later.

(More customer reviews)This pool is
great!Setup was relatively easy but you do need a helping hand (my
13 y.o. helped me) and there are some things you should be aware of
before you purchase it.
1. If you purchase the 18' X 9' X 52" pool with saltwater filter,
you'll need 115 pounds of salt which cost me $30.00 at a local pool
supply store.I bought 4 bags (each bag weighed 40 pounds) and used
slightly less than 3 to start the system. You'll need to add more
salt occasionally (30 pounds or so) when the code on the filter
tells you to do so.
2.5-6 feet of free space is required around the perimeter of the
pool.(I didn't have this space available and had to change my
desired location for the pool.)This is because the U-shaped metal
supports, attached to the top rail, lay flat on the ground
outwardly during setup. Then you pick the top rail off the ground
which makes the U-shaped supports slide into place. This starts
holding the pool up and in place.Your helper then attaches the pool
liner to the bottom of each support.I hope this makes sense. You
definitely need that extra space around the pool!
3.Your area should be very level.Take the time to clear rocks that
could puncture the liner and to prep the area well.I think the best
place for the pool would be on level cement.

(More customer reviews)Got this thing
delivered, but stalled a week on setting it up because I had read
the reviews that say you have to put it on a "completely level
surface".Kids and wife got tired of waiting so I just set it up.We
don't live on a slope or anything, but the ground isn't completely
level, and the pool is fine.I don't know if it will last until next
summer, but so far it's been wonderful! The cover, which I also
hesitated to use after reading complaints is just fine also.I love
this thing!!Only caveat I can offer is that the width is 15 feet at
the bottom, about 12 feet at the top, and at max depth the water
only goes to 41 inches, not 48.These two things have effected my
enjoyment absolutely NONE.

(More customer reviews)This is my first
self-propelled mower. I'm coming from a basic, no-frills machine
that I bought some years ago when I just wanted something cheap
that would do the job.
I bought this mower at the local Depot, cheaper than the advertised
price here even after tax was added. I brought it home and unpacked
it.Setup was done in just a couple of minutes -- unlike my previous
mower, this one is almost entirely assembled in the box. All you
need to do is put the handle on and attach the blade clutch lever
to it.No tools required.
Next, add the fluids. The mower comes with the right amount of
30-weight oil. Then fill up the gas tank, and you're off.
The mower has an engine kill switch like you'd find on a
motorcycle. Switch to "I" (Ignition). Pull the starter cord.Mine
fired up on the first pull! The engine runs smoothly (and much
quieter than my old mower). You don't need to have the safety bar
pulled in at this point -- the engine will run, but the blades will
not spin.
Pull the safety bar in and the blades start spinning. Release it
and they stop, but the engine keeps running. Kill the engine by
flipping the ignition switch to OFF.
That's cool. With my old mower, every time I let go of the safety
bar it killed the engine and I would have to pull the starter cord
again to get it going.
The propulsion is really nice. The upper section of the grip is
spring-loaded and slides up and down the vertical handlebar rods
slightly. The more pressure you apply to the handlebar, the faster
the mower will want to move.Release the bar, and the mower stops
moving. There is another, secondary handlebar underneath that can
be used to circumvent the propulsion entirely, if desired.
There is also a large lever that allows you to change between
mulching and bagging. This can be done at any time. With the bag
attached, pulling the lever to the rear will start bagging, while
pushing the lever forwardwill close off the opening to the bag and
start mulching instead. The mower also comes with the side discharge
attachment, which installs easily and is very effective.
When you're done mowing, there is a port on the side that accepts a
standard garden hose. Attach a hose to the mower and turn it
on.Then start the mower and start the blades spinning. It does a
really good job of cleaning out the mower for you. When the water
coming out starts to run clear, just shut off the hose and let the
blades keep spinning for another few seconds until the mower is
dry.You will still need to clean out some of it, though, like the
bag port, which the hose doesn't reach.
The Briggs & Stratton engine seems strong, easily handling
whatever horrible things I threw at it (with a caveat, explained
below). Propulsion was also strong, and even going up a steep
incline behind my house required only about 5% of the effort
required with my previous mower. The overall build quality is
excellent, and it's a real looker to boot.
There are a couple of minor quibbles, but nothing significant
enough to merit the loss of a star. I'm not a huge fan of the white
wheels, which were already turning green after the first mow. And
the wheels themselves don't turn as freely as those on my old
mower. Presumably this is because of the propulsion mechanism, so I
guess that could be the case with any self-propelled mower. And
finally, when in mulching mode, the mower seems to stall more
frequently than my old mower when it hits the hard stuff. I live in
Florida, and it rains a lot in the summer.Sun + lots of water =
grass that's sometimes a foot high in a week. So if the grass gets
too long in between mows, this mower will sometimes stall because
there's way too much material to mash around. However, switching to
side discharge or bagging solves the problem immediately, and the
mower will cut ANYTHING.

(More customer reviews)We purchased a new
home several months ago and upgraded to a Whirlpool stainless steel
appliance package and this Refrigerator came in the set. I love the
stainless steel and I think it really adds a lot to the appearance
of our home. Not to mention that it's a lot easier to clean but you
do have to clean it more often because every little fingerprint
shows. You can clean it with any type of cleaner that's
non-abrasive but stainless steel cleaner really works the best in
my opinion. I think the size of it is about average. For our family
of four it wasn't enough freezer space and we ended up getting a
large chest freezer for extra space. There is plenty enough room in
the refrigerator. I like that it has a built in PUR water filter
that is built in to the grill of the unit and it is so very simple
to change. It also has a meter inside the door that tells you when
to change the filter. It will light up yellow to warn you that the
filter will need changed soon and then it will turn red when it's
time to replace the filter. The filter seems to last a pretty long
time because ours is still green and we have been using it for over
5 months. One other thing you might want to know, the front is
stainless steel but the sides are black.

(More customer reviews)This refrigerator
replaced one of those double door refrigerators that had 5 freezer
shelves which were too narrow to accomodate frozen pizzas or a 22
lb turkey. I hated the old fridge. It looked nice, but was pretty
useless and impractical.
My new Kitchenaid refrigerator/freezer is great. Food items are
clearly visible and there is plenty of storage space on both doors
that allow for varied heigths depending on your needs. Electronic
controls allows for consistent temp. Vegetable and fruit storage is
accomodated with large bins and coldcuts and cheeses have their own
storage drawers. There is an alarm that alerts you if the doors are
not properly closed and a constant readout indicating temperature.
A water dispenser is mounted on an exterior door which I don't use
much.
The lower mounted freezer has two deep baskets that hold pretty
much everything with an adjustable slide for more efficient
storage.
The stainless steel exterior glistens and offers a lot of
flexibility re: home decor. The exterior does require a weekly
cleaning with stainless cleaner.
I like the quality, performance, and appearance and bought as
second similar unit without the water dispenser.

(More customer reviews)I've had the
refrigerator for a month now and it's been nothing but
fantastic. There's so many fine touches to this refrigerator you
really feel that samsung put a lot into their engineering/design of
this fridge.First of all the fridge is huge.I really didn't pay
much attention to the bottom freezer design until my girlfriend
pointed out the convenience of having the refrigerator section on
top.I can't go back to have a top freezer fridge.
The bottom freezer handle has tilt and pull design which I haven't
seen in any of the other manufacturers. This means as you pull the
handle towards you it tilts and actually pushes away from the frame
of the refrigerator. You can see this when you play with the
handle. The freezer compartment is intelligently designed to be able
to hold whatever you throw at it.It passed the frozen pizza test
with an actual slot for sliding them in.
The ice cube maker is inside the refrigerator rather than the door
which is preferable in my opinion. This keeps the doors light while
being able to hold more ice. You'll also notice that there aren't
any rubber seals that rub against each other when you close the
french doors.Rather they designed a unique mechanism which is a bit
hard to describe.Other refrigerators we've seen had rubber seals
that rubbed against each other which is bound for tearing in the
future.
The interior layout, deli pantry, and shelves all work well. What's
awesome about the refrigerator is the twin cool. Now, I was told by
the sales guy this helps with freezer burns.I haven't had anything
in the fridge long enough to tell, but for certain it's nice to
have that funky smell you get in the freezer when you have one
cooler driving air to both compartments. My girlfriend notice her
vegetables kept fresh. She commented how you normally have to chop
up green onions to keep them fresh but they stayed fresh for two
weeks without chopping them.
Cons.Well, there are a few of them but I wouldn't consider them
cons but you'll notice them and quickly forgive. The ice maker is a
bit loud when it drops the cube.Other than that the fridge is
extremely quiet.Did I mention you can set temperature from the lcd
panel and things stay extremely cool.Don't open the fridge
naked.

(More customer reviews)Let's put it this
way, I had a Whirlpool double wide before and bought in to this
French door stuff and will never buy one again. Please make sure you
consider how you will access you frozen foods. Also consider how
much space will be taken in order to get ice and water out the
front door. Also note that you have to open both doors most of the
time to access most of your foods. Here are the issues with this
model:
1) Although the manual shows a onetime leveling mechanism through
the wheels, in actuality you have to level it through leveling
feet. Thus once you have it level you will have to unlevel it to
move the refrigerator to clean. That is a pain and sucks they didn't
correct their manual to show it.
2) The website graphics show a dairy bin, but in actuality you
don't get one and you can't purchase one.Now we drop our butter in
their soda holder which is useless anyways.
3) They give you this soda metal slide out rack that is at an angle
for the sodas to roll out.The problem is that we don't have a need
for two soda holders. You can't use the rack for anything else
except sodas based on it design. We use it now to sloppily hold
yogurts.
4) Although this is Energy Star, they have to put a dehumidify
heater between the two French doors in order for moisture not to
form on the outside of the refrigerator. This is a feature you turn
on if needed and it only took a day to realize I have to keep this
heater on all the time, so much for energy savings.
5) They use the Ice maker as a way to distribute the cooling into
the refrigerator.Unfortunately things are so ergonomically tight
that all the milk and water products freeze. The solution has been
to raise the freezer temperature up from 0 to 4 degrees and seems
to solve the problem. However, it is really just a poor design
issue.
I am really disappointed in the poor design of the Whirlpool
product and also in the fundamentals of French doors.I am

damaged but UPS checked it out to make sure that the unit was not
damaged before delivering.
I like the ease of moving it from one room to another. The casters
roll smoothly. It cools a single room very quickly but is
noisy.
The window insert could use some rework. It needs to be beefed up
and perhaps some ribs to line it up with the window. It tends to
pop out from under the window because the duct is so much heavier
than the insert.

DeLonghi PAC T110P 11,000-BTU Portable Air
Conditioner with Integrated Dehumidifier
Product Description:
In addition to its 11,000-BTU cooling capacity, this sleek-looking
portable air conditioner also functions as a 60-pint dehumidifier
to help keep indoor air cool and comfortably dry. The independent
dehumidifier contains a built-in pump system that directs condensed
water up and out a window through an enclosed hose, so there's no
cumbersome bucket to empty. Even more, the air conditioner helps
purify the air thanks to its 3M Filtrete air filter, which contains
specially charged fibers that attract and capture tiny
microparticles of pollen and dust. The all-in-one air-treatment
center ensures ease of use and efficiency thanks to several
thoughtful design details. Its electronic control panel, with
soft-touch keys and an LED display, makes it simple to select the
room temperature and control all the functions, while the included
LCD remote control allows for programming the unit without having
to get up and walk across the room. The unit offers Boost, Sleep,
and Smart fan modes, and its 24-hour programmable timer can be set
to turn the unit on at a specific time--great for coming home to a
cool room at the end of the day. Other highlights include an
adjustable thermostat, motorized air-distribution louvers, an
adjustable humidistat, quiet operation due to the high-efficiency
compressor and components, and durable caster wheels and side
handles for portability. Accessories include an extra-large
professional caster kit and a window bracket and double exhaust
hose for energy-saving operation. Designed and engineered in Italy,
the 1500-watt air conditioner measures 16-1/7 by 19-1/2 by 37
inches.
From the Manufacturer
The Pinguino is easily portable thanks to its durable indoor and
outdoor castor wheels and side-carry handles.The built-in 60-pint
dehumidifier helps to keep indoor air cool and comfortably dry,
while the independent dehumidifier contains a De'Longhi patented
built-in pump system that directs condensed water up and out a
window through an enclosed hose, so there is never a bucket to
empty. The Pinguino features electrostatic air filtration from 3M.
The Filtrete filter contains specially charged fibers that attract
and capture tiny microparticles of pollen and dust that other
screen or foam filters miss. This allows you to not only cool the
air, but also purify it too. The unit also features unique no drip
technology. With this exclusive process, Pinguino uses condensation
and collected moisture to help cool the air.Excess vapor is then
discharged through the exhaust hose. And with an optional second
hose, the condenser's cooling air is taken from the outside,
increasing the efficiency of the unit. The unit includes the
following accessories: an extra-large professional caster kit and a
window bracket and double exhaust hose.

(More customer reviews)I have two of the
Haier 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioners, each with a heater and
three speeds. Have been using them for three seasons and really
like them. It takes less than 15 minutes to snap hoses on
connectors, place in window, add foam strip to prevent air &
bugs from coming in. No heavy lifting!I suggest putting some no
odor silicone spray [food grade from Amazon or Grainger Industrial
Supply] or Armor All which has some silicone in it, on the parts
that snap together. It makes it easier next season to put on and
remove the hoses too. Also, run a bead of silicone sealant around
the tiny space between the hose connector that fits into window
adapter. No air or bugs can get in that way. I'm writing almost
everything that isn't in the owner's manual.
Fortunately there are two collapsible 5 ft (1.5 M) tubes/hoses--one
for air intake and one for heat & humidity exhaust.Note: one
tube portable ac units are much less efficient than this Haier and
draw hot, outside air in thru cracks or openings somewhere in your
home or apartment. They also take longer to cool than this two hose
ac. Haier did it right with this product. One improvement needed is
a 24 hour timer instead of the 12 hr one at present.
If it is very humid often (59% INside!) this Haier unit may
occasionally require draining from a plug in the back near the
bottom into a flat pan. I usually wheel the unit on its easily
movable casters to the top of stairs; then, put a pan on the next
step down; untwist the drain plug and let the water fill the pan.
Otherwise, you need to use a flat, two inch high pan to collect the
water. Although we have 88%+ humidity here in the Northeast, my
draining of the water has been usually limited to at the end of the
season. Some humidity does blow out the exhaust hose. One thing:
the window adapter fits windows up to 36 inches. One of my windows
is 38" which means I have to fill in the extra space with cardboard
or foam. The D.I.Y.'er might get some longer plastic, heat-bend it
and make it fit better. We have double-hung windows (lift up
&/or pull top one down) with screens & storm windows
(insulates somewhat in winter). I set the window adapter with
snap-on/off hoses to blow through the screen. It adds some security
as the storm window is locked in place above the screen opening.
You should put a bolt locking device (see locksmith or hardware
store) above or beside the opening to prevent a thief from opening
your window from the outside. It should be instantly openable in
case of fire and need to escape.
Don't expect a portable AC to do as well as an in the window or
wall unit. 12,000 btu portable AC = about 8,000 btu in a
window/wall Air Conditioner (by experience). And, it will not get
as cold. Although Imeasured the temperature (digitally) coming out
of the unit at 61 degrees F (16 degrees C) it will not make the air
in the room as cold as a regular air conditioner. The heater
setting for the cooler or cold winter isn't worth the money. Better
is a $20.00 ceramic heater with fan from one of the stores or
Amazon. I don't use the built-in heater as it doesn't produce much
heat and is noisier than the ceramic one. The unit has a setting to
use alone as a dehumidifier,However, a separate 40+ pint (19+
liter) a day dehumidifier is a better choice. I use one of those in
our basement with a 15 foot garden hose attached to the drain plug.
Without a dehumidifier things get mildew, smelly and moldy with 70%
humidity.A word to the wise!
If you live in some dry areas of the country, a "Swamp Cooler"
(love that name) is the item for you. It cools by evaporation of
water and adds the humidity to the air. Others may prefer a central
air conditioner with the addition of an in-room humidifier for
those desert areas of the country. Remember that a humidifier in
the winter (used October thru May, in Northeast USA) prevents dry
& cracked skin, cracked wooden furniture, needless coughing.
And, if you get a cold/flu or pneumonia,it makes it much easier on
your lungs, pain, energy [coughing lowers energy], let alone skin.
A humidifier even helps keep a piano in tune longer. Add a air
purifier with fan & filter for best results. Those ozone units
are bad for your health; but, that is another review to write! The
Haier remote works fine, although its buttons aren't clearly
labeled as to what each does. Save your owner's manual in a zip
bag. At the end of the season remove the hoses and cover your Haier
with a large plastic bag to keep the dust off/out. Hope that helps
you.

(More customer reviews)Bought this hottub
to put in my apartment (new complex). I have a pretty bad back and
this makes it feel great. I've had it for about a month now and
love it. Like one other reviewer said, it's not a toy, it's a real
hottub. My friends are amazed that I have this huge thing in my
apartment.
It fits comfortably 2 people. Sure you can fit 4 in, but unlike
most hottubs, your legs just lay out, so with two people you can
move your legs in opposite directions, 4 people is a little tricky.
Usually with 4 people in it everyone knees and it's fine. Still
very comfortable.
Water height, perfect! I can sit down on my butt and the water is
basically past my chin. Sit on the knees and it's still at a fine
height. No need to worry about going into a kiddy pool. You'd have
to fill this half-way to even get a toddler to stand up in this
without drowning.
You can definitely feel the jets and they go 95% around the hottub
(they stop where the filter is). They're not your typical hottub
jets, it's another inflatable-like compartment with holes in it and
the air blows through it, but it still feels nice and gets the
water moving good.
I paid about [...] + tax + shipping, all in all about [...] and
well worth it. I use it almost every day and I'll be in it for
hours.
The only problems I have really had with it are I've broken several
of the straps that hold the cover on it (inflatable cover with
material cover to hold it down), but it's not that big of a deal. I
guess I just had the cover inflated too much.
Second Problem is the heater will show 102degrees, and I turn the
filter on and it will jump right up to 104 and not heat, any lower
than 102 degrees and it heats up fine. I have a thermometer in the
water than averages 102degrees.
To fill it up I bought a Fill Adapter that connects from my sink to
a garden hose and just run that over and into the tub. Works
beautifully. (Water coming from the sink = hot water and no wait
for it to heat up) Be careful though because when I first filled it
I had the water too hott and it was 112degrees (WAY TOO HOTT, I
couldn't get my foot in)
(Note: Ebay Fill Adapter is a cheap product, I replaced the cheap
plastic adapter with a metal one from Lowes, 15/16" Female to 3/4"
garden hose, and then the 15/16" male adapter to add on, ran me
about $[...])
All in all it's a great tub for the money. I highly suggest it and
the fun I have outweighs the two little problems!
Had trouble finding filters, but the PBW5 from spa-daddy.com works
fine!
