Business Objects like any other tool supports data exporting
which increases its robustness. One can easily create a report
and export it to XML or txt or any other format to use it later.
These exporting requires no brainer and i would prefer this
exporting when ever there is a need to. Needs in here i mean
scenarios such as
- You are asked to create an XML format which can be feeded
to some other tool.
- You are asked to migrate to a newer Business Objects
version.

A break does what its name implies. It breaks
up the data in a table or crosstab by grouping the data
according to a selected value. This allows you to display all
the data for each value of a dimension variable together, and
more importantly, it allows you to display subtotals.

How to use Rank data in Business Objects(BO) :
Ranking enables to look at the largest and smallest numbers in a
report. Like filtering, it hides the data you do not want to
display. Desktop ntelligence does not delete the data from the
report; you can view it again whenever you like by removing the
ranking.
Rank can be applied to data in tables, crosstabs or master cells
in master/detail reports.
Example: Display the three top‐selling product lines
only:
In this example, the table shows sales revenue for the
product lines in the efashion retail chain. The table on the left
shows revenue for all product lines. In the table on the right,
the product lines column shows only the top three selling
lines.

So, I guess You all had enough of theory knowledge by going
through the previous tutorials and now eager to start the
reporting. So lets start attacking the Business Objects.
First lets create a table the basic block of any reporting or
business tool.
To those of you who missed the previous post, Table is simply
like an excel spreadsheet which has rows and columns. Each

Business Objects like Cognos, has different report types.
These Block types in Business Objects serves all most all
Financial and Business Analysis needs.
BusinessObjects permits 4 block types: table, crosstab,
financial and chart. However Financial is not many times
considered as a block type. In BusinessObjects it's regarded as
a means of formatting a table block. Frankly, this distinction
is really a small one and it only comes when you are attempting
to format a block. A report can include numerous block types.
Figure, for instance, has each a chart block along with a table
block inside 1 report. The subsequent table summarizes the
various block types and when to make use of them. You are able
to select to include, modify, and delete blocks and reviews
both via the Report window or Report Manager.
